Another prescription: For adults, use Yanghe Decoction (Warming and Harmonizing Decoction); for children, use Xiaojin Tang (Little Gold Decoction); for severe cases, use Xihuang Wan (Rhinoceros Horn Pill) (all mentioned in the section on various prescriptions for carbuncles and sores). If the affected area is red, follow the aforementioned method.

Another prescription: Chew licorice root until it melts into a paste, apply it thickly to the affected area, replace it whenever it dries, day and night without interruption, and it will surely heal within a few days with miraculous efficacy.
Also known as ingrown nail. Whenever a piece of reddish flesh protrudes from the edge of the nail and frequently flares up, it is called Onychia (Nail Abscess). Use one tael of Radix Stellerae Chamaejasme (Wild Wolf Poison), two taels of Radix Scutellariae (Scutellaria), soak them in vinegar overnight, add five taels of Pig Fat, simmer gently over a low fire until two taels of liquid remain, filter out the dregs, let it cool down to remove the "fire qi," and apply it to the lesion. Change three times a day with miraculous efficacy. This is a prescription by Linwu Shanren.
Another prescription: Grind Frankincense (Resina Olibanum) and Chalcanthite (Vitriolum Caeruleum) into fine powder and apply it frequently to the affected area. This disease requires the removal of the nail; even without medication, it will heal. If an ulcer has already formed and fails to heal for a long time, this prescription is very effective.
Another prescription: Take five qian of Alum (Ferric Ammonium Sulfate), calcine it until properly heated, then grind into powder after cooling. First wash the wound with salt water and dry it, then apply the alum powder, wrap securely with old silk cloth, and change once a day with miraculous efficacy. Calcined Alum can also be used, though it may cause slight pain upon application.
Another prescription: Decoct dried tangerine peel (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae) in concentrated soup, soak for a long time until the nail separates naturally from the flesh, then gently clip away the nail embedded in the flesh. Externally, apply ash from burned Snake Slough (Ophichus Skin) mixed with one qian of Realgar (Arsenic Sulfide) powder, either sprinkled dry or mixed with sesame oil for application.
Another prescription: Mix one qian each of Calomel (Mercurous Chloride), Frankincense (Resina Olibanum), and Myrrh (Resina Myrrhae), two qian of Minium (Lead Tetroxide), five qian of Red Kaolin (Halloysitum Rubrum), and three qian of Halloysitum (Calcined). Grind all into powder. If the area is moist, sprinkle the powder dry; if dry, mix with oil for application. This is most excellent.
Another prescription: Chew licorice root until it melts into a thick paste and apply it; replace whenever it dries. It will completely heal within a few days with miraculous efficacy.
Another prescription: Refer to the prescription for sores occurring on the head, horns, or Taiyang acupoint.
Use a porcelain blade to shave off a layer from the nail surface, and apply calcined alum powder on top; its effect is miraculous.
Daily, take Balsam Flower (Impatiens balsamina, also known as Nail Flower) including roots, stems, and leaves, crush them, and apply the paste to the nail. Wrap with cloth and change once a day. It takes more than a month to heal.
