This condition is common in children. Take three or four live clams (Corbicula), pry them open to extract the meat, first calcine the shells until charred, then pound the shells and clam meat together into a paste and apply it to the affected area; this is very effective.
Simply take a pinch of dust from under the sleeping mat, place it in the mouth, without letting the patient know. This will lead to immediate recovery.
For those who have consumed too much sour food, eating walnut kernels (Juglandis Semen) will cure it immediately.
Teeth should not be extracted casually; extraction causes all teeth in the mouth to become loose. Extraction is only permissible when the pain is extreme and interferes with eating; otherwise, it is best not to extract. Use one large crucian carp (Cyprinus carpio var. orientalis) (weighing about 10 liang), insert one qian of white arsenic (Realgar and Orpiment mixture, specifically Realgar/Orpiment refined as Baixinshi) into its abdomen, sew the wound shut, and hang it in a ventilated but shaded place where cats and mice cannot reach. Dry it in the shade for seven days until the scales rise; this preparation has an analgesic effect.
Another prescription: Pound one garlic bulb (Allii Sativi Bulbus) into a paste, mix with one to two fen of powdered dragon bone (Fossilia Ossis Mastodi), apply evenly to the painful area, and the tooth will fall out within half an hour.
Equal parts of calamine (Calamina) (finely ground) and gypsum (Gypsum Fibrosum) are used to rub the teeth daily. Do not brush vigorously; over time, the teeth will naturally become tight.
Rubbing salted plum (Prunus mume fructus salificatus) on the teeth induces salivation, which opens the jaw; this method is excellent. Alternatively, use a porcelain spoon to pry it open. Do not use copper or iron tools to pry, as this may damage the teeth. If the mouth cannot be opened, breaking one tooth with an object may allow for medication administration.
Teeth falling out and regrowing (see the subsequent formula Gu Chi Shu Gu San for fixing teeth).
The previously mentioned formula containing Duan Gu Bu (Drynariae Rhizoma) is very effective. There are many prescriptions for toothache, but few provide immediate relief. Even if there is slight efficacy, recurrence of pain is inevitable. Since the age of ten, I have suffered from this condition repeatedly. Each episode lasted several days, with severe pain preventing eating, and even alternating chills and fever, rendering medical treatments ineffective. Later, I discovered a method: tightly clenched the teeth during urination. Following this practice, the problem never recurred. Adhering to this method for one year resulted in only occasional minor episodes, and eventually, no further recurrences occurred; its efficacy is profound. Additionally, rinsing the mouth after meals and washing the teeth at night are also good methods.
Another prescription: For people in middle age or approaching old age, teeth often fall out or become loose without falling out immediately, causing inconvenience. Remember when a tooth is about to fall out: place the impending tooth on a tile and bake it dry over fire until charred, then grind it into fine powder. Apply this powder to all the teeth. After half a day, the loose teeth will fall out. Swallow the powder to ensure the remaining teeth never fall out.
Another prescription: Rhubarb (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) 5 qian, Sweet Scilla (Gansong), Cyperus rotundus rhizome (Xiangfu) (cleaned of hairs, processed with wine), Angelica dahurica root (Baizhi), and raw Gypsum (Gypsum Fibrosum) each 5 qian, true Sichuan pepper (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium) (for those with stomach cold... rub
