耳后红筋痘必轻，紫筋起处重沉沉。
兼青带黑尤难治，用药精详也得生。
凡犯房事、经水、生产秽气，以大枣烧烟解之。若防发痒者，以桦皮和大枣烧烟解之。
被酒气犯者，以葛根、茵陈蒿烧烟解之。犯五辛气者，以生姜烧烟解之。被死尸气及疠气所
犯者，以大黄、苍术烧烟解之。被狐臭犬羊气犯者，则烧枫树叶解之。若遇风雨时者，则烧
苍术、枫树叶解之。若血少而浆难之痘，则忌烧苍术，盖恐愈燥而浆愈难耳。若遇诸恶气，
则以乳香烧烟熏之，以胡荽酒喷之。俗有煮醋熏痘者，以醋能活血，殊不知醋收敛，大非所
宜也。
房中多置炭火以除寒，使血气和畅为妙。
一、肾经发痘初热腰痛，身如打伤，背不能伸，或连尾脊骨痛，雄鸡一只，剖开鸡腹，
取出肝肠，立将烧酒一杯喷鸡腹内，安放腰上用带紧缚，限一炷香久为度，其鸡即青臭不可
闻。连用二三只，其痛自止痘亦出。凡用此方，必戒杀放生，以为小儿种福。
二、心经发痘忽然抽掣。此症与急惊相同，用桃树皮、葱子、灯心，共捣烂，敷囟门、
肚脐及手心足心，限一炷香为度，则惊自醒而痘自出。又于手足合骨处、用灯火各烧一下，
以散风痰。
三、小儿体性怯弱，或因吐泻之后元气愈亏不能胜毒，汗出如珠，四肢厥冷，似睡非睡
，眼中露白，此症与慢惊相似乃危症也。急用大附子四钱，干姜四钱，丁香三钱，陈淡豆豉
三钱，小雄鸡一只，共捣烂，再用烧酒略炒温，敷脐上及两足心，急换一二次，其痘自出。
若有泄泻，加灶心土三钱。
四、后生辈或失阳之症方发痘，欲出不出，狂言乱语。此痘毒不出，郁火攻心。既不敢
用清凉之药以解毒，又恐骤用补剂以助火，此最难措手之症。急用雄鸡一只，生剖开腹去肠
杂，以烧酒喷之，敷于脐上，其痘自出，其语亦止。凡欲补而不敢补，其痘不能出者，俱用
此方，此从外托内，神妙无比，切勿视为寻常。或遍身疼痛，乃毒出肾经，用黑豆一升，煮
熟擂敷腰上即止。盖黑豆能解肾经痘毒也。
五、少年出痘，或当色后误为发散传为阴症，新生鸡蛋三个，取蛋白调乳服，再用艾火
灸肚脐四围，及脐下寸余；又扯起阳物，离粪门各一半灸七焦，其阳自回。
六、女人天癸已至，当出痘之际经水忽行，一则惧其秽气相冲，二则惧其血衰不能化毒
。此最危险之症，急取桃树上寄生，擂烂敷足心，三炷香久为度，经水自回，痘亦万全。
又方∶月月红花（又名月季花），取花与枝叶煎酒服，并煎浓汤周身洗浴，神效。
又方∶老杉树皮、旧棕、胎发、共烧灰、调酒服，立止。
七、孕妇出痘激动其胎又不得下，或胎死腹中而不能出。此至危之候，宜取路上推车虫
（又名推屎虫，即蜣螂也）及所推泥丸，一并焙干，研为细末，加威灵仙同研，用酒调为丸，
纳脐中，将膏药贴住（不论何项膏药），三炷香久为度，其胎即下。如经不能，亦可以通。
八、孕妇出痘腹中作痛，乃胎动也。若不顶住，一经临产则气血两败痘必不全。急宜内
服安胎散（照妇科内安胎方服之），外用莲蓬壳、益母草各三钱（烧存性），艾叶三钱，共为
末
九、少年出痘吐血或鼻血不止，此虚火上炎血不归经。宜取白果擂水服，后将柏树上寄
生二两，山栀根（去梗）二两，共擂烂敷脐中，连换三次，其血即止。未止，即照卷一鼻部
鼻
十、痘当起胀之时忽然便血，血即下漏，安能起胀，最危急也。用地榆、生大黄、红花
根，共为末，烧酒调匀，敷尾脊骨，三炷香久为度。连换三次，其血自止。如痘内夹有斑症
，或夹丹症（形如斑点者是），用土朱、紫草，为末敷之，即退。
十一、肝经出痘，大便下血，眼红气粗，丹痧满面，紫黑不起，白颈蚯蚓七条（焙干），
栝蒌仁三十粒（去油），杏仁十五粒（去皮尖），共研末，陈茶调匀，作饼贴脐，一炷香久为
度
十二、肺经出痘，滑精梦遗，咳嗽失音，不省人事，取新生鸡蛋一个，略开一孔去黄白
，只用蛋壳，将元参一两取汁灌于蛋壳之中，用纸封固，再将熟黑豆捣烂包裹蛋壳，置火中
煨一炷香久为度，取出冷透火气，将元参汁与服，其音自清，而嗽亦止。
十三、小肠经出痘，遍身发斑，片红片紫如云如霞，无痘出现，不省人事。急将悉尼与
食，又将芙蓉花、川椒、胡椒共为末，纸卷为条，蘸麻油用灯盏盛之照于被内，覆盖一时，
其斑自退，而痘自出矣。
十四、胃经出痘，咽喉闭塞，或致失声，不思饮食，上吐蛔虫，下泻恶血，急将绿豆为
末，以鸡蛋白调之，喉闭则敷于颈，吐蛔则敷于脐上，泻血则敷脐下。
十五、命门出痘，锁眉刺心，烦闷不安，大热不退，生艾叶一两，黑豆一撮，白芥子三
钱，醋煮一滚为度，共擂烂作饼敷心前，连换数次，热退心安。
十六、肾经出痘，尾脊骨疼痛，日夜不安，芙蓉根、马鞭草，共擂烂，炒温敷尾脊骨上
，其痛立止。
十七、时值疟疾而复出痘，口吐白涎，咳嗽失声，生姜切片，包大附子煨，再取姜汁和
当归、生地、白芍，共捣烂敷脐中，二炷香久为度，白涎自止。
十八、痘见脾经，甚为美也。然防禁不周，秽污相冲，痘不起发，狂言乱语，遍身痒塌
，抓破出血，声哑气急，急用石膏、寒水石、麝香、郁金、甘草共煮透，去甘草，滓又煮干
为末，用蜜调敷胸前，谵语自止，而痘亦起发矣。
十九、痘出太阳，舌心黑，口气臭，大小便不利，痘色红紫，青黛，防风、全蝎、石膏
、熟大黄合匀为末，作饼敷脐中，痘色自活，诸症自退。
二十、痘出太阳，夹斑夹疹，胡言乱语或失声不语，悉尼水磨真象牙与服，则安静声清
，斑疹亦退，其痘自出矣。又夹斑而出者，有红赤点，随出随收。又夹丹而出者，红赤成片
，俱用玄参、升麻各二分，甘草八分，防风、荆芥、牛蒡子各六分，煎服。如夹麻疹而出者
，照上方加桔梗、黄芩（酒炒）各六分，煎服，均极效验。后尚有外治一方。
二十一、痘出胸腰，疼痛叫唤不安，豆豉三两，胡椒一钱，共擂烂，又将生姜四两捣汁
调匀炒温，敷于胸腰二处，其痛立止。
二十二、痘出肾经，腰腹绞痛，吐泻交作，手足冰冷，大汗如注，此阴盛阳衰。此最危
险，急用乳香、没药、人参各一钱，为末作丸纳脐中，又将艾叶炒热敷于丸上，其症自平。
二十三、痘出不快，烦渴闷乱，卧睡不安，咳嗽失声，艾叶一碗，胡椒三十粒，擂烂调
水取汁，熬膏作饼敷脐中，诸症自退。
二十四、痘如麻子一片成毡痒甚，此为风毒，非真痘也。因风寒闭塞皮肤，以致真痘不
出。菱云子煮水洗浴，再用猫爪、荔枝烧烟熏之，则真痘出而痒自止矣。
When a child has a fever, if the tips of the five fingers and the middle finger are cold, it indicates smallpox/rubella (dòuzhěn); if the middle finger is hot, it is due to wind-cold.
Red veins behind the ears indicate that the rash will be mild; where purple veins appear and feel heavy, the condition is severe.
If accompanied by cyanotic and blackish discoloration, it is particularly difficult to treat, but with precise and detailed medication, there is still hope for survival.
For cases contaminated by sexual activity, menstrual blood, or postpartum filth, smoke from roasted dates can resolve it. To prevent itching, smoke from birch bark and dates can be used.
For contamination by alcohol fumes, smoke from Puerariae Radix (Gegen) and Yinchen Hao should be used. For contamination by the Five Pungent Spices (Wuxin), smoke from fresh ginger should be used. For contamination by corpse gas or epidemic pathogenic factors, smoke from Rhubarb (Dahuang) and Atractylodis Rhizoma (Cangzhu) should be used. For contamination by fox odor or dog/sheep smells, smoke from maple leaves should be used. In windy or rainy weather, smoke from Cangzhu and maple leaves should be used. If blood is deficient and pus formation in the rash is difficult, burning Cangzhu is contraindicated, as its dryness may further hinder pus formation. For various foul odors, smoke from Frankincense (Ruxiang) should be used for fumigation, and Coriandri Fructus (Huisu) wine should be sprayed. Folk methods using vinegar fumigation are unsuitable because although vinegar promotes blood circulation, it also has an astringent property, which is highly inappropriate.
Place plenty of cool water in the room to absorb heat, keeping the mind naturally cool.
Place plenty of charcoal fire in the room to dispel cold, ensuring harmonious and smooth Qi and blood flow is ideal.
This is most critical. Once disturbed, it easily leads to fright-internal collapse before or after the rash, and may also cause stagnation of pus formation.
1. Smallpox originating from the Kidney Meridian: Initial fever with lower back pain, body feeling bruised, inability to extend the back, or pain extending to the coccyx. Take one male chicken, cut open the abdomen, remove liver and intestines, immediately spray one cup of liquor into the abdominal cavity, place on the lower back, and bind tightly with a belt for the duration of one incense stick. The chicken will become green and foul-smelling. Use two or three chickens consecutively; the pain will stop and the rash will emerge. When using this formula, one must abstain from killing and release living beings to accumulate merit for the child.
2. Smallpox originating from the Heart Meridian: Sudden convulsions. This symptom is identical to acute fright-wind. Crush Peach Tree Bark (Taopipi), Scallion Seeds (Congzi), and Juncus Effusus (Dengxin) together, and apply to the fontanelle, umbilicus, palms, and soles for the duration of one incense stick. The fright will subside, and the rash will emerge. Additionally, burn each joint of the hands and feet with a moxa cone to disperse wind-phlegm.
3. Children with weak constitution, or whose Yuan Qi is further depleted after vomiting and diarrhea, unable to tolerate toxicity, sweating like pearls, cold limbs, drowsy yet not fully asleep, eyes showing white sclera. This resembles slow fright-wind and is a critical condition. Urgently use 4 qian of large Fuzi, 4 qian of Ganjiang, 3 qian of Dingxiang, 3 qian of Chen Dan Douchi, and one small male chicken. Crush together, stir-fry briefly with liquor until warm, and apply to the umbilicus and both soles. Change once or twice urgently; the rash will emerge. If diarrhea occurs, add 3 qian of Zaoshentu.
4. Young people or those with Yang deficiency developing smallpox: Rash wants to emerge but cannot, delirious speech. This is toxin retention with stagnant fire attacking the heart. One dares not use cooling herbs to detoxify, nor sudden tonics to aid fire. This is the most difficult case. Urgently take one male chicken, cut open raw, remove entrails, spray with liquor, and apply to the umbilicus. The rash will emerge, and speech will cease. For cases where tonification is desired but feared, preventing emergence, use this method. It lifts internally from externally, extremely miraculous, do not treat lightly. If whole-body pain occurs, indicating toxin exiting via the Kidney Meridian, boil one sheng of Black Beans, crush, and apply to the waist to stop pain. Black beans can resolve Kidney Meridian smallpox toxins.
5. Adolescents developing smallpox, or mistakenly treated with dispersing agents after sexual activity leading to Yin syndrome: Take three fresh eggs, use the egg white mixed with milk for ingestion. Moxibustion on the perimeter of the umbilicus and one cun below the umbilicus. Lift the penis and moxa the area halfway between the penis and anus at the Seven Burners points; Yang Qi will return.
6. Women with established Tian Gui (menstruation) developing smallpox when menstruation suddenly starts: Fear of filth clash and fear of blood deficiency failing to transform toxins. This is extremely dangerous. Urgently take parasitic plants from peach trees, crush, and apply to the soles for three incense sticks. Menstruation will stop, and the rash will be safe.
Another prescription: Yueyue Honghua (Rosa chinensis), take flowers, stems, and leaves, decoct in wine for ingestion, and decoct strong soup for full-body bathing. Extremely effective.
Another prescription: Old fir tree bark, old palm fiber, fetal hair, burn to ash, mix with wine for ingestion. Stops immediately.
7. Pregnant women developing smallpox disturbing the fetus without delivery, or dead fetus retained. This is extremely critical. Take dung beetles (Tui Che Chong) and their rolled soil pellets, bake dry, grind to fine powder, add Clematidis Radix et Rhizoma (Weilingxian), grind together, mix with wine to make pills, insert into the umbilicus, cover with plaster (any type) for three incense sticks. The fetus will be expelled. If meridian blockage persists, it can also be unblocked.
8. Pregnant women developing smallpox with abdominal pain, indicating fetal movement. If not stabilized, upon labor, Qi and blood will fail, and the rash will be incomplete. Urgently take An Tai San internally (refer to Gynecology An Tai formula). Externally, use 3 qian of Lotus Pod Shell (Lianpeng Ke) and Motherwort (Yimucao) (burned to retain character), 3 qian of Mugwort Leaf (Aiye), grind to powder.
9. Adolescents developing smallpox with continuous hematemesis or epistaxis: Deficient fire flaming upward, blood not returning to vessels. Take White Fruit (Baiguo), crush with water for ingestion. Then take 2 liang of Yew Parasite (Baisangshengsheng) and 2 liang of Gardenia Root (Shanzhigen, remove stalks), crush together, apply to umbilicus. Change three times; bleeding stops. If not stopped, refer to Volume 1 Epistaxis section.
10. During the swelling stage of smallpox, sudden hematochezia with leakage. How can swelling occur? Most critical. Use Sanguisorbae Radix (Diyu), Raw Rhubarb (Sheng Dahuang), and Carthami Red Flower Root (Honghuagen), grind to powder, mix with liquor, apply to the coccyx for three incense sticks. Change three times; bleeding stops. If complicated by macules or erysipelas-like spots, use Earth Vermilion (Tuzhu) and Lithospermi Radix (Zicao), grind to powder, apply to resolve.
11. Smallpox from Liver Meridian: Hematochezia, red eyes, coarse breathing, facial erysipelas rash, purple-black non-rising lesions. Take seven dried earthworms (Baijing Qiuyin), 30 seeds of Trichosanthis Semen (Gualouren, remove oil), 15 Almond seeds (Xingren, remove skin and tip), grind to powder, mix with aged tea, form cakes, apply to umbilicus for one incense stick.
12. Smallpox from Lung Meridian: Seminal emission, nocturnal dreams, cough, loss of voice, unconsciousness. Take one fresh egg, make a small hole, remove yolk and white, keep only the shell. Extract juice from 1 liang of Scrophulariae Radix (Yuanshen), pour into shell, seal with paper. Wrap shell in crushed cooked black beans, roast over fire for one incense stick. Remove, cool completely, administer Yuanshen juice. Voice clears, cough stops.
13. Smallpox from Small Intestine Meridian: Whole-body macules, red and purple patches like clouds, no distinct pustules, unconsciousness. Urgently feed Sydney [Note: Likely a transcription error in original text, possibly referring to a specific local remedy or ingredient missing context], and grind Hibiscus Flower (Furonghua), Sichuan Pepper (Chuanjiao), and Black Pepper (Hujiao) to powder. Roll in paper strips, dip in sesame oil, hold lamp under blanket for coverage. Macules recede, rash emerges.
14. Smallpox from Stomach Meridian: Throat obstruction, loss of voice, anorexia, vomiting roundworms, passing foul blood. Grind Mung Bean (Lvdou) to powder, mix with egg white. Apply to neck for throat obstruction, umbilicus for vomiting worms, below umbilicus for bloody diarrhea.
15. Mingmen Smallpox: Knitted brows, stabbing heart pain, restlessness, persistent high fever. Take 1 liang fresh Mugwort, a handful of Black Beans, 3 qian White Mustard Seed (Baijiezi), boil in vinegar until boiling, crush together, form cakes, apply to chest. Change several times; fever subsides, mind calms.
16. Kidney Meridian Smallpox: Coccyx pain, day and night restlessness. Crush Hibiscus Root (Furonggen) and Verbena Officinalis (Mabiancao), stir-fry warm, apply to coccyx. Pain stops immediately.
17. Malaria concurrent with smallpox: Saliva foam, cough, loss of voice. Slice ginger, wrap large Fuzi, roast. Mix ginger juice with Angelica Sinensis (Danggui), Rehmannia Root (Shengdi), White Peony Root (Baishao), crush together, apply to umbilicus for two incense sticks. Saliva foam stops.
18. Smallpox involving Spleen Meridian: Generally auspicious. However, poor prevention against filth clash causes non-emergence, delirium, whole-body itching/collapse, scratching to bleeding, hoarse voice, rapid breathing. Urgently decoct Gypsum (Shigao), Halloysitum Rubrum (Han Shuishi), Moschus (Shexiang), Curcuma Aromatica (Yujin), Licorice (Gancao). Remove licorice, boil residue dry, grind to powder, mix with honey, apply to chest. Delirium stops, rash emerges.
19. Smallpox emerging via Taiyang Meridian: Black tongue center, foul breath, difficult urination/defecation, red-purple rash color. Grind Indigo Naturalis (Qingdai), Saposhnikovia Root (Fangfeng), Full Scorpion (Quanxie), Gypsum, Cooked Rhubarb (Shu Dahuang) evenly to powder, form cakes, apply to umbilicus. Rash color revitalizes, symptoms recede.
20. Smallpox emerging via Taiyang Meridian, complicated by macules/rash, delirium or muteness. Administer Ivory (Xiangya) ground in water. Calmness returns, voice clears, macules/rash recede, rash emerges. For macule-complex with red spots appearing and disappearing: For erysipelas-complex with red patches: Decoct Xuan Shen, Sheng Ma (2 fen each), Gan Cao (8 fen), Fang Feng, Jing Jie, Niu Bang Zi (6 fen each). For measles-complex: Add Jie Geng, Huang Qin (wine-fried) (6 fen each). All very effective. External treatment follows.
21. Smallpox on chest/waist, painful crying/restlessness. Crush 3 liang Dan Dou Chi, 1 qian Hujiao. Stir-fry 4 liang Ginger juice until warm, apply to chest and waist. Pain stops immediately.
22. Kidney Meridian Smallpox: Waist/abdominal colic, alternating vomiting/diarrhea, cold limbs, profuse sweating. Yin excess, Yang deficiency. Most critical. Urgently use 1 qian each of Ruxiang, Moyao, Renshen, grind to powder, make pills, insert into umbilicus. Cover with warm fried Mugwort. Symptoms stabilize.
23. Slow smallpox emergence, irritability/thirst/confusion, restless sleep, cough/loss of voice. Crush 1 bowl Mugwort, 30 Hujiao grains, mix with water to extract juice, boil to paste, form cake, apply to umbilicus. Symptoms recede.
24. Rash like millet seeds forming a mat, severe itching: Wind-toxin, not true smallpox. Wind-cold blocking skin prevents true eruption. Wash with boiled Water Chestnut (Lingyunzi). Fumigate with Cat's Claw (Maozhua) and Lychee smoke. True rash emerges, itching stops.
