For treating malignant zhu (infectious disease transmitted by spirit/ghost) invading the heart, causing severe distress and a desire to die, this formula is suitable.
Anshixiang (Benzoin, 0.5 liang)
Grind the above material into powder, divide into two doses, take with hot wine mixed in, at any time.
Mainly treats all types of shi zhu (corpse transmission disease) and evil qi. If a person has been close to corpses and inhaled evil qi into the abdomen, it may remain incurable for life, eventually leading to death; this is a condition difficult for physicians to treat. This formula also effectively treats all types of zhu diseases.
Awei (Asafoetida, 3 liang, ground to the size of hemp seeds)
Take the above single ingredient, wrap half a liang in wonton dough, boil until cooked, and swallow. Take three times a day. After completing twenty-one days, if not cured, avoid five pungent spices, oils, wheat products, raw/cold foods, and sour/slippery foods; taking with wine will lead to recovery.
Treats bone-steaming chuan shi (transmitting corpse) and ghost qi.
Take Gaojia (Gleditsia sinensis fruit), the white bark of trees, and thorns, each five pieces. Burn them to ash, leach with water to obtain juice. Repeat leaching on the ash three to five times. Then decoct to concentrate into a frost-like substance, take two liang for administration.
Treats chuan shi bone-steaming, ghost qi causing cough, shortness of breath, inability to eat, and pi accumulation (masses) gradually leading to yellowing and emaciation.
Taoren (Peach Kernel, 2 liang)
Take two and a half cups of water, grind Taoren in the water to extract juice, add two he of rice, cook into porridge, and eat on an empty stomach.
Treats all types of lao (consumptive disease) and emaciation.
Qinghao (Artemisia annua L., finely cut tender parts, 1 sheng)
Take three sheng of water and five sheng of urine from a young boy, decoct together until concentrated into an ointment, form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Take ten pills per dose with warm wine, at any time.
Ghost zhu and dun shi (hidden corpse) causing abdominal distension, shortness of breath rushing to the heart, or formation of palpable masses, or pulling pain in the waist and spine. Use stir-fried salt wrapped in a green cloth to apply hot compresses.
Treats individuals who inherently have a root of lao damage, which upon onset causes pain in all joints and skin, or extreme heat leading to tendon stiffness.
Take one chi of the southeast root of Baizhe (Toona sinensis or similar Ziziphus species), peel off the outer bark, take the inner bark, roast until cooked, cut finely into powder. Take three qian per dose, mix with warm wine to ingest.
Treats lao emaciation.
Shengdihuang (Rehmanniae Radix) and flour (each 1 jin)
Pound until broken down, stir-fry and bake until dry, grind into powder. Take two qian per dose, mix with rice drink or wine to ingest, at any time.
Treats accumulated heat causing lao emaciation, postpartum blood deficiency causing tidal fever in women, yu lao (postpartum consumptive disease), and heat in the five centers (palms, soles, chest). All are treatable, with repeated successful results.
Fushen (Poria with Hostwood), Mudanpi (Moutan Cortex), Digupi (Cortex Lycii), Guangui (Cinnamomi Ramulus), Shanyinchens (Artemisia capillaris), Renshen (Ginseng), Baishaoyao (White Peony Root), Gancao (Licorice Root), Danshen (Salvia Miltiorrhiza), Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix), Huhuanglian (Picrorhizae Rhizoma), Shihu (Dendrobii Caulis)
Grind the above materials into fine powder. Take two qian per dose, add one cup of water and three slices of fresh ginger, decoct until boiling five to seven times. Take warm, including the dregs, after meals.
