Formula for Tonifying Qi Equally
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix), Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma) (each 3 fen), Wu Wei Zi (Schisandrae Fructus) (3 fen), Gan Cao (Licorice Radix et Rhizoma) (1 fen).
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Take 2 qian per dose, at any time, mixed with plain boiled water.

For treating emaciation, cough with rebellious Qi ascending, throat pathology, epigastric irritability, and difficulty swallowing, this formula is suitable.
Xing Ren (Prunus Armeniaca Seed), Zi Wan (Asteris Radix), Kuan Dong Hua (Farfarae Flos), Fu Ling (Poria) (each 0.5 liang).
Grind Xing Ren into a paste. Mix uniformly with the powders of the other herbs. Blend with refined honey to form pills the size of Sophora japonica seeds. Take 5–7 pills per dose after meals, washed down with rice drink.

For treating cough
Ma Huang (Ephedrae Herba), Xing Ren (Prunus Armeniaca Seed), Gan Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma) (each 0.5 liang), Gan Cao (Licorice Radix et Rhizoma) (2.5 qian).
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Add salt, decoct, remove the dregs, and take the liquid. At any time, take one da qian of the powder, add one zhan of water, decoct until reduced to 6/10 parts, and take when slightly warm.

To regulate and benefit the Lung and Stomach, and to consolidate Ying and Wei
Nuo Mi (Sticky Rice, stir-fried until yellow), E Jiao (Donkey-hide Gelatin), Huang Qi (Astragali Radix) (each 1 liang).
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Take 2 qian per dose, mixed with Deer Antler Gelatin soup, at any time.

For treating phlegm-saliva cough due to Lung and Stomach exhaustion/injury
Zi Wan (Asteris Radix) (1 liang), Ban Xia Qu (Pinelliae Fermentum), E Jiao (Donkey-hide Gelatin) (each 0.5 liang).
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Use cooked flour paste as a binder to form pills the size of Sophora japonica seeds. Take 20 pills per dose before retiring, washed down with rice drink.

For treating obstructive cough, also known as La Jian San (Wax Decoction Powder); no need to form pills.
Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Sang Bai Pi (Mori Cortex), Gan Cao (Licorice Radix et Rhizoma) (equal parts, soaked in rice washing water for one day).
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Take one piece of wax and decoct together with 2 qian of the powder and one zhan of water until reduced to 7/10 parts. Remove dregs and take warm after meals.

For treating Lung deficiency cough
E Jiao (Donkey-hide Gelatin), Xing Ren (Prunus Armeniaca Seed) (each 1 liang), Nuo Mi (Sticky Rice) (5 he).
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Take 1 qian per dose, mixed with plain boiled water, at any time.

For treating diseases caused by pathogenic invasion of the Lung meridian, such as wind sores on the face, dyspnea with rapid breathing, and cough.
Gua Lou (Trichosanthis Fructus) (2 fruits), Xing Ren (Prunus Armeniaca Seed) (1 liang 2 qian), Ban Xia (Pinelliae Rhizoma) (1 liang).
Process all the above medicines according to standard methods. First, crush Gua Lou and decoct it into a paste in a silver or earthenware vessel. Then add Xing Ren and continue decocting. After cooling, add the powders of Ban Xia and Gua Lou Pi (Trichosanthis Pericarpium) to form pills.
