The Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian has 43 acupoints. Head acupoints are divided into three sections. Starting from Tongziliao to Fengchi, they are described in cumulative order. Tongziliao is five fen away from Tinghui. Tinghui is located in the depression anterior to the ear. Kerenren, also known as Shangguan, is in the gap anterior to the ear where the bone protrudes and the mouth opens. Hanyan and Xuanlu are two acupoints located above Naokong and below the curved angle. (Note: Naokong is in the temporal region; Xuanlu and Hanyan are below the curved cheek and above Naokong.) Xuanli differs in position, located below Naokong and above the curved angle. Qubin is at the corner of the hairline on the upper ear. (Note: In the depression at the curved corner of the upper hairline.) Lvgu is one and a half cun above the ear. Tianchong is two cun behind the ear entering the hairline. (Note: Two cun behind the ear entering the hairline.) Fubai is between one cun entering the hairline. Qiaoyin is the acupoint just below the occipital bone. Above Wanggu, there is a connection with an empty space. (Note: Between Wanggu and the occipital bone, moving creates a hollow sensation.) Wanggu is four fen behind the ear entering the hairline; this measurement must be remembered. Benshen is two cun lateral to Shenting, one cun entering the hairline, on the line above the ear. Yangbai is one cun above the eyebrow; Zulinqi is five fen above the hairline. (Note: In the depression five fen straight up from the eye entering the hairline.) One cun above the hairline is Yangbai; one and a half cun above is Mucuang. Zhengying is two and a half cun above the hairline. Chengling is four cun above. Naokong is five and a half cun above. Fengchi is in the depression of the hairline behind the ear. (Note: In the depression behind the ear, posterior to the temporalis muscle, below Naokong, at the hairline. This totals twenty acupoints, divided into three folds, proceeding outward. The first fold starts from Tongziliao to Wanggu; the second fold turns outward from Wanggu up to Yangbai, meeting Jingming; the third fold goes up from Jingming following Zulinqi and Fengchi. Due to the complexity of these points, they are listed in order by song. Song: One Tongziliao, two Tinghui, three Kerenren and Hanyan four, five Xuanlu and six Xuanli, seven Qubin follows, eight Lvgu and nine Tianchong, ten Fubai and its point follows, eleven Qiaoyin continues, twelve Wanggu ends the first fold; thirteen Benshen begins again, fourteen Yangbai follows the second fold, fifteen Zulinqi below the eye, sixteen Mucuang is suitable, seventeen Zhengying and eighteen Chengling, nineteen Naohu and twenty Fengchi, measure carefully according to this sequence, I know the head acupoints of the Gallbladder Meridian.) Jianjing is sought in the depression on the shoulder. One and a half cun anterior to the prominent bone. (Note: In the depression on the shoulder, one and a half cun anterior to the prominent bone above the Clavicular fossa, press with three fingers, the depression aligns with the middle finger.) Yuanye is three cun anterior to the axilla. Zhejin is determined five fen below Qimen. Qimen is actually an acupoint of the Liver Meridian. It is four and a half cun away from Juque. Riyue is five fen below Qimen. Jingmen is at the waist binding below the monitoring bone (costal margin). (Note: Below the costal margin, at the root of the hypochondrium, flanking the spine, the Mu point of the Kidney.) Daimai is eight fen below Zhangmen. Wushu penetrates eight fen below Zhangmen. (Note: Wushu is three cun from Daimai, four cun and eight fen below the costal margin.) Weidao is five cun and three fen below Zhangmen. Juliao is eight cun and three fen below Zhangmen. Zhangmen is an acupoint of the Liver Meridian, encompassed nine cun lateral to Xiawan. Huantiao is in the hollow of the hip joint. (Note: Lie on side, flex upper leg and extend lower leg, touch the point with right hand and shake left to locate.) Flexing upper and extending lower legs yields the same location. Fengshi is where the middle finger reaches when hanging down. Zhongdu meets five cun above the knee. Yangguan is three cun above Yanglingquan. Yanglingquan is one cun below the knee. Yangjiao is seven cun above the lateral malleolus. Waixiu accommodates six cun above the ankle. Guangming is five cun above the ankle. Yangfu connects four cun above the ankle. Xuanzhong is at three cun above the ankle. Qiuxu is in the depression anterior to the ankle. This point is four cun and five fen from Xiaxi, functioning as the Yuan-Source point of the Gallbladder Meridian. Zulinqi is one and a half cun posterior to Xiaxi. Diwuhui ends one cun from Xiaxi. Xiaxi is within the interdigital web. Qiaoyin is between the fourth and fifth toes. (Approximately 43 acupoints, totaling 86 bilateral points.)

The Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian originates at the tuft of hair on the big toe. It ascends along the medial border of the dorsum of the foot. One cun from the medial malleolus. Ascending the ankle eight cun. It crosses posterior to the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian. It ascends the medial aspect of the thigh. Entering the pubic region through the yin hair. Passing the genitalia. Reaching the lower abdomen. It surrounds the stomach, belongs to the Liver, and connects with the Gallbladder. Ascending through the diaphragm. Spreading over the hypochondrium. Following the posterior aspect of the throat. Ascending into the pharynx (Hangsang). Connecting to the optic nerve system. Emerging above the forehead. Meeting the Du Meridian at the vertex. Its branch descends from the optic nerve system to the inner cheek. Circling the inside of the lips. Another branch diverges from the Liver, pierces the diaphragm, and ascends to inject into the Lung. Movement in this meridian causes low back pain preventing bending and stretching. Men suffer from hernia. Women suffer from swelling of the lower abdomen. Severe cases involve dryness of the throat, dusty complexion, and loss of luster. These are diseases generated by the Liver. Chest fullness. Vomiting and regurgitation. Undigested diarrhea. Fox hernia. Enuresis. Dysuria. For these conditions, excess is drained. Deficiency is tonified. Heat is treated with rapid needling. Cold is treated with retained needling. Sunken conditions are treated with moxibustion. Neither excess nor deficiency is treated by taking from the meridian itself. Excess presents with the Cun Kou pulse being twice as large as the Ren Ying pulse. Deficiency presents with it being smaller than the Ren Ying pulse.

"San Mao" refers to the transverse crease after the hair tuft. "Bi Nei" refers to the thigh. "Qi Xia" refers to the lower abdomen. "Mu Nei Shen Chu" refers to the system (connection). "Hangsang" is the upper orifice. The Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian originates at Dazhun (LR1) in the hair tuft of the big toe. Ascending along the medial border of the foot. Passing Jianxing (LR2) and Taichong (LR3). Reaching Zhongfeng (LR4) one cun anterior to the medial malleolus. Ascending from Zhongfeng past Sanyinjiao (SP6). Passing Ligou (LR5) and Zhongdu (LR8). Ascending one more cun. Crossing posterior to the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian. Ascending the medial aspect of the thigh. Reaching Xiguan (LR7) and Ququan (LR8). Following Yinbao (LR9), Wuli (LR10), and Yinlian (LR11) on the inner thigh. Arriving at the boundary of Chongmen (SP12) and Fushé (SP13). Entering the pubic hair region. Intersecting left and right. Circling the genitalia. Reaching the lower abdomen and ascending. Meeting Qugu (CV2), Zhongji (CV3), and Guanyuan (CV4). Then following Zhangmen (LR13) to Qimen (LR14). Surrounding the stomach, belonging to the Liver. Descending to the division of Riyue (GB24). Connecting to the Gallbladder. From Qimen, it ascends through the diaphragm. Running outside Shidou (ST23). Inside Dabao (SP21). Spreading over the hypochondrium. Ascending between Yunmen (LU2) and Yuanye (GB22). Outside Renying (ST9). Following the posterior throat. Emerging into Hangsang. Running outside Daying (ST5), Dicang (ST4), Sibai (ST2), and Yangbai (GB14). Connecting to the optic nerve system. Emerging above the forehead. Running inside Zulinqi (GB15). Meeting the Du Meridian at Baihui (GV20) on the vertex. Its branch descends outside the Ren Meridian. Inside the main meridian. Descending to the inner cheek, intersecting and circling inside the lips. Another branch diverges from Qimen where it belongs to the Liver, pierces the diaphragm. Running outside Shidou. Inside the main meridian. Ascending to inject into the Lung. Descending to the Middle Jiao. Flanking Zhongwan (CV12). To connect with the Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian. When the Jueyin dynamic qi moves, disease manifests as low back pain preventing bending and stretching. Severe cases involve dry throat and dusty complexion. This is because Jueyin transforms from the intermediate qi of Shaoyang; this is a disease of Jueyin's transforming qi. Men's hernia and women's lower abdominal swelling are diseases of Jueyin's root qi. Diseases generated by the Liver include chest fullness and vomiting/regurgitation. Food qi enters the Stomach, disperses essence to the Liver, and circulates qi in the meridians. Liver diseases cause Liver qi to rebel. Unable to disperse grain essence, thus chest fullness and vomiting occur. The Liver governs free flow. Liver qi deficiency leads to undigested diarrhea and enuresis. Excess leads to dysuria. Fox hernia is a hernia that enters and exits with the meridians day and night. For these movement and generation diseases: Excess is drained. The above discusses how Ying Qi is born in the Middle Jiao. Circulating from the Lung Meridian through the Twelve Meridians. Intersecting externally, internally, above, and below. Starting from the Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian. Ending at the Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian. Cycling repeatedly. Turning without beginning or end.
