Ge (Left): The head is the convergence point of all Yang meridians, and only Wind pathogenic factors can reach it. When Wind pathogens lodge in Yang positions and invade the Taiyang meridian (Taiyang Meridian Disease), it causes distending pain in the head's vessels, radiating to the back of the brain and extending to the neck and back. Symptoms include aversion to wind, runny clear nasal discharge, chest fullness, poor appetite, a floating pulse, and a white tongue coating. Treatment employs acrid-warm dispersing methods.

He (Right): Headache with distension, pain radiating to the forehead, aversion to wind, nasal congestion, yellow tongue coating, and floating pulse indicate Wind pathogens lodging in the Yangming meridian (Yangming Meridian Disease). Wind is a Yang pathogen. It should be dispersed with acrid substances and cleared with cool substances.

Ren (Left): Twitching pain in the forehead radiating to the left ear, worse at midnight, floating and rapid pulse, yellow tongue coating. This indicates deficiency in Yin levels, where Wind pathogens transform into heat, stirring up Liver and Gallbladder Fire that attacks the empty orifices above. Tentatively prescribe acrid-cool dispersing methods to clear and drain Jueyin and Shaoyang.

Ju (Left): Severe headache like splitting, twitching tendons and vessels, pain connecting to the eyeballs, crimson red tongue, wiry and rapid pulse. This is Liver Yang transforming into Fire, disturbing the clear spaces above. One should nourish Water to soften the Liver and extinguish Wind-Fire.
Avoid excessive use of Wind-dispersing herbs, as Wind aids Fire; too many Wind herbs will exacerbate the Fire.

Water deficiency fails to nourish Wood, causing Liver Yang to disturb the clear spaces above, resulting in headache, vertigo, palpitations, insomnia, and muscle twitching. The disease has been long-standing with deep roots, not easily cured quickly. One should nourish Kidney Water to soften Liver Wood, subdue floating Yang, and calm the Heart Spirit.

Zheng (Right): All Wind disorders involving tremors and vertigo belong to the Liver. Liver Yin insufficiency leads to Liver Yang usurping upwards, causing dizziness, blurred vision, nausea/vomiting, reduced appetite, thin greasy tongue coating, and wiry slippery pulse. Damp-Phlegm obstructs internally, and Stomach Qi fails to descend harmoniously. Danxi stated: "No Phlegm, no Vertigo." One should soften the Liver, subdue Yang, harmonize the Stomach, and resolve Phlegm.
