Ji Jing Feng (Acute Convulsive Disorder) presents with locked jaw, high fever with profuse phlegm, upward gaze or strabismus, opisthotonos, convulsions and tremors, traction of the muscles around the mouth, lips, eyebrows, and eyes, hot breath from the mouth, red cheeks and lips, constipation and urinary retention, and a floating, surging, rapid, and tight pulse. This indicates excess heat inside the body combined with external wind pathogen; treatment should focus on extinguishing wind and stopping spasms. If phlegm-heat symptoms persist, mild purgation may still be employed; once phlegm-heat is evacuated, immediate attention should be paid to nourishing stomach qi. If spasms cease and phlegm-heat subsides slightly, spleen qi should be tonified. This is the general principle.
Ji Jing belongs to the Liver channel and is a condition characterized by excess wind pathogen and phlegm-heat. Ji Jing is a Yang syndrome; treatment should prioritize releasing the exterior, primarily using Bai Du San (Decoction for Overcoming Toxins). If Ji Jing is accompanied by abdominal distension and pain, formulas such as Ling Sha Wan (Spirit Sand Pill) or Wan Yi Wan (Ten Thousand Billion Pill) may be used.
Bai Du San: Treats early-stage Ji Jing with fever, hand and foot convulsions, upward eye deviation (Tian Diao), opisthotonos, as well as all cases of cold-wind invasion causing headache, fever, cough, wheezing, nasal congestion, and heavy voice. It is also suitable for convulsions occurring during the eruption stage of sores and rashes.
Ingredients: Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Qiang Huo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Du Huo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix), Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix), Qian Hu (Peucedani Radix), Fu Ling (Poria), Jie Geng (Platycodonis Radix - remove rhizome), Chuan Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Zhi Ke (Aurantii Fructus - remove albedo and stir-fry), Tian Ma (Gastrodiae Rhizoma), Quan Xie (Scorpio - remove toxicity), Jiang Can (Bombyx Batryticatus - stir-fried), Bai Fu Zi (Typhonii Rhizoma - baked), Di Gu Pi (Lycii Cortex - equal parts each), Gan Cao (Licorice Root - half dose). Prepare one dose by coarsely crushing the herbs, adding three slices of fresh ginger, and decocting in water.
Ling Sha Wan: Treats critical conditions in children caused by wind-phlegm, fright, and accumulation, with miraculous effects.
Ingredients: Nan Xing (Arisaematis Cum Bile), Ban Xia (Pinelliae Rhizoma - both soaked), Ba Dou (Crotonis Fructus - shelled, boiled in wine and dried twice, 5 qian each), Quan Xie (Scorpio), Zhu Sha (Cinnabar - half for medicine, half for coating, 3 qian each), Jiang Can (Bombyx Batryticatus - stir-fried, 7 fen), Qing Fen (Calomelas - small amount). Grind into powder, mix with water to form pills the size of millet seeds. Take three pills per dose. For convulsions, take with Yin Jin Tang (Gold and Silver Decoction); for other conditions, take with Ginger Decoction.
Long Nao An Shen Wan: Specifically treats adult and pediatric convulsions, epilepsy, bone-steaming consumptive fever with cough, slurred speech and stiff tongue persisting for a long time, as well as unresolved high fever from Shang Han (Cold Damage) with prolonged absence of sweating. Adults take one pill, taken down with well water mixed with Xiong Huang (Realgar, 4-5 fen), or chewed finely, or ground and swallowed. Infants under one year take one-quarter pill; those aged two to three take one-third pill; those aged four to five take one-half pill. Extremely effective.
Ingredients: Niu Huang (Calculus Bovis, 5 fen), Pian Nao (Borneolum Syntheticum, 3 fen), Wu Xi Jiao (Rhinocerotis Cornu, 2 qian), Zhu Sha (Cinnabar, water-ground, 2 qian), Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, remove rhizome, 2 qian), Bai Fu Shen (Poria cum Radix Pini, remove skin, 3 qian), Di Gu Pi (Lycii Cortex, 2 qian), Mai Men Dong (Ophiopogonis Tuber, remove heart, 2 qian), Sang Bai Pi (Mori Cortex, 2 qian), She Xiang (Moschus, 3 fen), Ma Ya Xiao (Natrii Sulfas, 3 fen), Gan Cao (Licorice Root, 2 qian). Grind each ingredient into powder, weigh accurately, mix together, and form pills with refined honey. Each liang of powder makes ten pills. Coat with four large sheets of gold foil. Dry in shade, store in porcelain jars sealed with yellow wax to prevent volatilization of borneol and musk. This formula is infallible; its merits cannot be fully described.
Qian Jin San: Treats all types of phlegm-wheezing in children, acute and chronic convulsions. Even if death has occurred, if the mouth can be opened for administration, recovery is certain.

Case 1: A child presented with tidal fever and convulsions, phlegm-saliva obstructing upwards, and cold fingers/toes. The left cheek appeared cyanotic with hidden white color during Shen and You hours (3 PM - 7 PM). Treatment involved Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) to tonify Spleen and Lung, followed by Liu Wei Wan (Six-Ingredient Pill with Rehmannia) to nourish Kidney and Liver, resulting in recovery. (Both formulas are found in the Tonification section.)
Case 2: A three-year-old child presented with convulsions due to fright, fever, and profuse phlegm. Long-term use of Bao Long Wan (Embrace Dragon Pill) resulted in alternating red and cyan facial complexion. This indicated blood deficiency in Heart and Liver channels with wind-heat generating phlegm. Treatment involved Liu Wei Wan (Six-Ingredient Pill with Rehmannia) to nourish Kidney and generate blood, combined with Liu Jun Zi Tang (Six-Gentlemen Decoction), Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix), and Sheng Ma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) to tonify and regulate Spleen and Stomach, leading to stabilization. (These three formulas are found in the Tonification section.)
