The above are ground into fine powder. Use the pig stomach to pound and mix the powder thousands of times, form pills the size of Sophora japonica seeds. Take 50 pills per dose, swallowed with rice water, at any time.
[Weidan (Stomach Elixir)] Zhusha (Cinnabar) inherits the essence of Taiyin (Yin). It is not processed by fire but is refined into an elixir using Yin-firing methods combined with Pi-yao (Spleen-tonifying drugs) such as Dingxiang (Caryophylli Flos) and Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata). It tonifies gently without being excessive or harsh. It effectively treats deficiency of True Yang, weakness of Mingmen Fire (Gate of Life Fire), which fails to nourish Spleen Earth, leading to a loss of harmonious distribution of Qi, deficiency-cold in the Middle Jiao, inability to eat, chest and diaphragm stuffiness, bloating even without eating, indigestion after eating, nausea due to phlegm reversal, vomiting of undigested food, deficiency-cold of Zang organs, failure to digest grains, severe colic pain in the heart and abdomen, continuous diarrhea, and all kinds of Spleen and Stomach diseases. It can be taken by both men and women.
Zhusha (Cinnabar) (large pieces free of stone impurities, 50 liang), Xinluo Renshen (Korean Ginseng), Suosharen (Amomi Fructus Rotundus), Roudoukeren (Nutmeg Kernel), Hongdou (Adzuki Bean), Gaoliangjiang (Galangal Rhizome) (chopped, stir-fried), Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Root, peeled and de-navelled), Baizhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma), Houpo (Magnolia Bark) (processed with ginger juice, not roasted), Huoxiangye (Agastaches Herba), Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma) (prepared, cleaned of soil), Hujiao (Piperis Longi Fructus), Yizhiren (Alpiniae Oxyphyllae Fructus), Maimendong (Ophiopogonis Radix) (de-heart), Caoguoren (Tsaoko Cardamomi Fructus), Juhong (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Rubrum) (each 4 liang).
Take the twenty ingredients including Renshen, process them according to standard methods, chop them to the size of beans. Use one silver pot, add 50 jin of Baisha Mi (White Sand Honey). Cook half of the herbs with the honey. [Text fragmentary] ...add the remaining herbs... boil until it can stretch into threads, and form pills. If there is vomiting...
[Buzhen Wan (True-Supplementing Pill)] Generally speaking, treatments for anorexia using only Spleen-strengthening herbs often fail, and there is a reason for this. After birth, if one does not preserve health properly, excessive sexual activity leads to deficiency of True Yang. The Fire of Kan (Kidney Water/Fire) becomes cold and cannot steam upwards to warm Spleen Earth. The harmonious Qi fails to distribute, and the Middle Jiao loses its transport function, resulting in inability to eat, chest stuffiness, bloating without eating, or indigestion after eating, and loose stools. All these are caused by the deficiency of True Fire, which cannot steam and nourish Spleen Earth. The ancients said, "It is better to tonify the Spleen than to regulate the Middle." I argue that it is better to tonify the Kidney than the Spleen. If Kidney Qi is strong, the Fire of Dantian steams upwards to warm Spleen Earth. When Spleen Earth is warm, the Middle Jiao regulates itself, and appetite returns.
Huluba (Trigonellae Semen) (stir-fried), Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Root, peeled and de-navelled), Yangqishi (Leucogypsum Fibrosum) (calcined and quenced with vinegar), Chuanwu (Aconiti Radix) (prepared, peeled), Tusizi (Cuscutae Semen) (washed clean, steamed in wine), Chenxiang (Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum) (not roasted, separately ground), Roudoukou (Nutmeg, baked in flour), Rongshong (Cistanche Deserticolae Caulis) (soaked in wine, baked), Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus) (each 0.5 liang), Lurong (Cervi Cornu Pantotrichum) (de-hair, steamed in wine, baked), Chuanbaji (Morindae Officinalis Radix) (de-heart), Zhongrufen (Gypsi Fibrosum Pulvis) (each 1 liang).
The above are ground into fine powder. Use two pairs of Sheep Kidneys, prepare them as food, boil until soft with Scallion, Sichuan Pepper, and wine. Add a little wine, pound and mix to form pills the size of Sophora japonica seeds. Each dose... [Text truncated]
