When the weather is hot, blood pressure needs to be lowered; when the weather is cold, blood pressure also needs to be lowered. The weather changes every day, so blood pressure must be lowered and controlled every day. Blood pressure data are measured under drug control. However, if medication is stopped, the condition worsens. Can such data serve as a standard for achieving health? Everyone can reflect on the compression and discomfort in the heart and chest caused by long-term use of antihypertensive drugs, the resulting cardiac weakness, and the further exacerbation of blood circulation obstacles. This leads to even more severe obstruction of Qi and blood circulation, causing various diseases such as heart disease, stroke (Zhong Feng), hemiplegia (Ban Shen Bu Sui), paralysis (Tan Huan), hemi-atrophy (Pian Ku), and renal lesions: due to renal weakness, cerebrovascular lesions (see *Bu Shen Zhuang Yang* chapter), brain tumors, and brain cancer arise.
When the weather is too hot, someone suffers a stroke; when the weather is too cold, someone else suffers a stroke. This is merely because certain individuals have weak constitutions and cannot adapt to weather changes, not because of high blood pressure. Even those with normal blood pressure readings still suffer strokes.
From the preceding discussion, we can understand that diseases such as stroke, hemiplegia, paralysis, or sudden collapse and coma (see *Gan Bing* chapter) are not problems of the brain, just as fever is not caused by the central nervous system of the brain (see *Fa Re* chapter). Today, focusing articles on brain issues is merely a way to empty patients' pockets. When will we allow hypertensive patients to see the light of day again? Is the Republic of China Hypertension Prevention Promotion Association preventing disease or promoting disease?
(V) Brain surgery adds frost to snow regarding the recovery of stroke patients' health
As stated previously, hemiplegia, paralysis, and unconscious collapse are not issues of high blood pressure, nor are they issues of cerebral embolism, cerebral hemorrhage, or rupture of the cerebral arachnoid membrane. Rather, they are caused by the inability of the Zang-Fu organs and meridians to operate the "Five Qi." Therefore, this is fundamentally not a disease of the brain; it is simply that labeling it as a brain issue makes it more "profitable."
Patients who fall into unconsciousness may automatically regain consciousness on the third, sixth, ninth, or twelfth day, or they may die on these days. Thus, patients destined to die cannot be saved by doctors.
We often see many hemiplegic patients whose limbs automatically recover movement after a period of time. This is because the body and the heart's meridians possess the innate function to self-resolve circulation obstacles and repair the body, similar to how knife wounds heal naturally.
We often hear that brain surgery was successful in saving lives, with many patients lying in bed for over ten years without dying. However, did not surviving without surgery also mean saving their lives?
Logically, the success of medical treatment should be the complete restoration of health, meaning the normalization of limb movement and speech, rather than the patient simply not dying on the operating table being considered a success.
Brain surgery was successful, and life was saved? But the limbs still cannot move, and the mouth still cannot speak. What is the medical significance of the surgery? Where is the success? What is the motive behind the surgery? Everyone knows clearly—it is for the patients' pockets.
Post-operative anti-inflammatory treatments cause more severe damage to the heart and kidneys, making them even less capable of resolving circulation obstacles. Therefore, for post-brain-surgery patients, recovering limb movement and normal speech is adding frost to snow. However, the public does not know the true crux of the matter—nor do we see any patient who has successfully undergone brain surgery and fully recovered health. This is because post-operative anti-inflammatories damage the heart and kidneys, preventing the recovery of physical strength and Yuan Qi (Primordial Qi).
(VI) Conclusion:
Blood pressure is an external stimulus triggering the body's exchange with air, manifested as diastolic and systolic pressure generated by the heart. Without air, the heart would not beat, and there would be no blood pressure. Without the beating of the heart, there is no vitality of life. Therefore, blood pressure represents the dynamic activity of Qi within the body.
When obstacles occur in Qi and blood circulation, the body generates an instinctive reaction to eliminate these obstacles by raising blood pressure. Thus, hypertension is a physiological mechanism where the body increases pressure to protect vital functions while eliminating circulation obstacles.
Therefore, upon discovering hypertension, one should identify and eliminate the causes. If the causes are removed, blood pressure will normalize naturally. Alternatively, one might need to increase blood pressure further—for example, through exercise—to assist the body in eliminating circulation obstacles. The goal is to remove the causes of circulation obstacles, not to lower or control blood pressure. Lowering and controlling blood pressure instead causes damage to the heart and blood vessels.
Many people died from taking antihypertensive drugs after their blood pressure suddenly rose to over 200 mmHg. This occurred because the patient had a weak heart and caught a cold. The doctor mistakenly measured the blood pressure and forcibly lowered it, damaging the heart. This allowed the wind pathogen from the cold to rapidly invade the heart, causing the heart to be compressed by wind-cold and unable to beat, leading to death.
Scientists invented the sphygmomanometer, measuring vascular diastolic and systolic pressures, thereby detecting Qi and blood circulation obstacles. However, whether these obstacles are caused by climatic factors (wind, summer-heat, cold, dampness, dryness, fire), dietary factors (sour, bitter, sweet, pungent, salty, fishy, scorched, fragrant, raw, putrid), or emotional factors (joy, anger, worry,思 [thought], sorrow, fear, fright—the Seven Emotions) cannot be distinguished by a sphygmomanometer. Nor can it distinguish between meridian and Zang-Fu issues. Yet, modern medicine deceives patients by treating based solely on cardiac and vascular pressures, causing various complications and side effects, and ranking highly in the top ten causes of death. Who is responsible for this?
The invention of the sphygmomanometer has not brought good news to human health but has caused great harm. Therefore, the sphygmomanometer is an instrument of health destruction, not a medical device. To prevent hypertension, everyone must recognize its true nature and discard the sphygmomanometer; otherwise, the disaster will be endless, and health will suffer.
We can understand that hypertension is not a disease. It is merely a physiological phenomenon discovered by the invention of the sphygmomanometer and subsequently marketed. It can only serve as a reference for diagnosing diseases. Since it is not a disease, it cannot be controlled or treated. Because it is not a disease, no patient can be cured by treating it as such. Yet, modern medicine treats it as a disease to be controlled and treated. What is the result? The harm caused by drugs and psychological trauma has resulted in countless losses of health and life. Should we continue to allow this instrument of harm to exist?
Understanding Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) meridian pathology and Zang-Fang theory allows for clear and easy identification of the origins of circulation obstacles, enabling accurate diagnosis and treatment for recovery.
II. Diabetes Mellitus—A Medical Scam That Cannot Cure Any Patient (Part 2)
(I) Preface
The diabetic patients we see or hear about falling into comas or facing danger are those whose blood sugar was lowered too much by insulin, causing the heart to lack glucose supply, leading to coma and life-threatening conditions. For comatose patients, drinking sugar water or placing sugar in their mouths provides the heart with glucose, allowing them to escape coma and danger.
We have never heard or seen cases where patients fell into coma or danger due to excessively high blood sugar or urine sugar test results. The danger and death of patients always occur because insulin injection causes hypoglycemic coma, and glucose is not supplied in time. Mr. Chiang Hsiao-wu is an example.
The diabetic patients we see or hear about suffering from visual impairment, toe or skin ulcers, or genital itching are those diagnosed with diabetes and treated with insulin for years or decades. Almost all such patients have a history of insulin treatment for years or decades.
We have never seen or heard of anyone undiagnosed with diabetes suddenly developing visual impairment, coma, skin ulcers, or genital itching and being diagnosed with diabetes. Nor have we seen patients who fall into coma or danger after eating sugar or rice.
Today's medical advertisements for diabetes prevention consciously or unconsciously intimidate the public, claiming diabetes causes uremia, retinal disorders, and gangrene. In reality, these are adverse outcomes—insulin poisoning—resulting from years or decades of insulin treatment following diagnosis.
After understanding the data above, when patients diagnosed with Western medicine diabetes seek my treatment, I first require them to drink a bowl of sugar water and insist they drink a large bowl daily and eat enough rice. The result: patients who follow these instructions and eat/drink adequately never experience problems. They become strong, healthy, and return to their former joy, free from the distress of diabetes.
For patients who dare not drink or refuse sugar water, I refuse to treat them. Without changing their concepts, no amount of medical theory can cure a single patient. How did today's tragic situation arise? This article will reveal the truth.
Mr. Li, 72 years old, from Zhongli, underwent a health checkup a year ago (Republic of China Year 72) based on hearsay. The doctor told him, "You have a little bit of diabetes!" Thereafter, he strictly followed the doctor's advice. A year later, he invited me to his home for diagnosis. His wife said he had been unable to get out of bed for half a year and unable to turn over for two months. I asked Mrs. Li to prepare sugar water for him. She said, "The doctor instructed that diabetics cannot eat sugar." I said, "Cook some pork congee for the patient." She replied, "The doctor instructed that meat cholesterol is too high, so no meat, and only one or two bites of rice." I asked, "What does he usually eat?" She answered, "Only vegetables and vermicelli."
Hearing this foolishness, I shook my head in sighs and could not help but curse: "Half a year unable to get out of bed, two months unable to turn over, yet you won't let him eat this or that. If he is going to die, let him die full, not starve to death as a hungry ghost." These words woke Mrs. Li up. She cooked pork congee. After eating, the patient said, "It tastes very good." I said, "If it tastes good, it means your body needs it." After three weeks of treatment involving sugar and rice intake, the patient could walk in the park.
Mr. Li made a momentary mistake by getting a health checkup based on hearsay, resulting in six months of bedridden illness. How many patients today are like Mr. Li? How many will be starved to death?
Mr. Liu, 48 years old, from Shilin, a taxi driver, was diagnosed with diabetes and injected with insulin. For health reasons, and strictly following the doctor's orders, he ate only half a bowl of rice, or sometimes none. Three months later, he was bedridden and unable to work. My diagnosis was that he dared not eat rice or sugar, starving himself until his hands and feet were weak. His family fed him cold rice with brown sugar, two bowls at a time. He got up after two days and returned to driving and working after one week.
Mr. Yu, Senior Specialist at the General Manager's Office of △Su Corporation, had high cholesterol during a health checkup. Following the doctor's orders, he ate vegetarian food, vermicelli, and vegetables. After three months, he was sent to the emergency room twice. He then sought my diagnosis. After taking his pulse, I said, "Go home and buy pig trotters stewed with peanuts to eat." Mr. Yu asked, "Why?" I smiled and said, "Go back and try it, and you will know." Two weeks later, Mr. Yu returned for a follow-up, and his illness was cured. I smiled and asked, "Do you still want health checkups in the future?"
Patients cured using my methods often tell me that other patients hospitalized with them say, "You are still eating rice, sugar, and meat. Aren't you afraid of going blind? Aren't you afraid of uremia? Do you dare believe TCM, which lacks scientific basis?" I can only smile and say, "Let's see who goes blind, who gets uremia, and who gets gangrene. Facts speak louder than words. Do not rely on verbal arguments; no need to discuss further!"
(II) TCM Xiao Ke Syndrome is Fundamentally Not Western Medicine's Diabetes
It is often said that Western medicine's diabetes corresponds to TCM's Xiao Ke (Wasting-Thirst) San Xiao (Three Excesses) syndrome. In fact, TCM's Xiao Ke San Xiao is fundamentally not Western medicine's diabetes. Western medicine's diabetes is merely built upon the invention of blood sugar and urine sugar tests, playing number games with sugar. Unable to explain the condition to patients, they arbitrarily associate it with TCM's Xiao Ke San Xiao to justify themselves, covering up medical flaws with a self-deceptive doctrine.
TCM's Xiao Ke syndrome has nothing to do with sugar or insulin. Western medicine's diabetes focuses on the role of sugar and insulin as its medical target.
Diabetes is characterized by the "Three Excesses": excessive eating, excessive drinking, and excessive urination. Ask yourself: among 100 patients diagnosed with diabetes today, how many exhibit these three symptoms? In fact, among patients diagnosed with "a little bit of diabetes," fewer than 1% have the Three Excesses symptoms.
Medical reports on diabetes never explain why patients drink excessively, eat excessively, or urinate excessively.
Let us expose this medical scam of diabetes through TCM!
The causes of San Xiao differ according to Lung Dryness, Stomach Heat, and Kidney Deficiency.
*Yi Zong Jin Jian*: Chapter on Xiao Ke.
Shang Xiao (Upper Excess): Belongs to the Lung. Excessive drinking with normal urination.
Zhong Xiao (Middle Excess): Belongs to the Stomach. Excessive drinking with scanty, dark red urine, and excessive eating.
Xia Xiao (Lower Excess): Belongs to the Kidney. Excessive drinking with turbid, voluminous urine.
All three excesses belong to Dryness and Heat diseases. However, observing elderly people who love drinking tea and urinate frequently at night shows that not all San Xiao are Dryness-Heat; some are Cold.
Today, many medical reports advise drinking plenty of boiled water, which is also a source of excessive drinking and urination in the elderly (see *Need to Drink Plenty of Boiled Water?* chapter). Drinking much with scanty, turbid, red urine indicates Heat (excessive Fire consuming Water).
Drinking little with abundant, clear urine indicates Cold (deficient Fire failing to consume Water).
*Neijing · Ling Shu · Chapter 46: Five Transformations*:
Yellow Emperor asked Shaoyu: "Those prone to Xiao Dan (Wasting-Thirst), who can eat and drink but become emaciated, how should they be diagnosed?" Shaoyu answered: "Weakness of all five Zang organs predisposes one to Xiao Dan." Yellow Emperor asked: "How do we know the five Zang are weak?" Shaoyu answered: "Weakness implies rigidity; rigidity leads to frequent anger, while weakness is easily injured." Yellow Emperor asked: "How to diagnose weakness versus rigidity?" Shaoyu answered: "Such persons have thin skin and deep, firm eyes. Their hearts are rigid, leading to frequent anger. Anger causes Qi to reverse upward, accumulating in the chest. Qi and blood stagnate, flesh swells, and blood vessels fail to flow, transforming into Heat. Heat consumes muscle and skin, thus causing Xiao Dan—this is a disease of emotional imbalance."
*Sù Wèn · Sheng Qi Tong Tian Lun*: "Great anger severs form and Qi, causing blood to stagnate above. Qi remains stagnant, flesh and skin swell, and blood vessels cannot flow. Steaming produces Heat, which consumes muscle and skin, forming Xiao Dan."
Gao Shizong commented:
According to the *Ping Mai Pian*, "Kidney Qi is faint, essence and blood are scarce, rushing Qi enters the chest and diaphragm." Since essence and blood are scarce, Qi reverses upward. Thus, "weakness implies rigidity" means the essence/quality of the five Zang is weak, but Qi is rigid. The weak becomes weaker, and the rigid becomes stronger, indicating disharmony between rigidity and softness.
Zhu Yongnian commented:
There is Xiao Dan of the five Zang and Xiao Dan of the muscles. Xiao Dan of the five Zang involves internal consumption of fluids leading to thirst. Xiao Dan of the muscles involves external consumption leading to emaciation. Internal issues affect the external, and external issues affect the internal. The body is the union of the five Zang internally and externally.
The cause of Xiao Ke lies in Dryness and Heat affecting a weak body. This Dryness-Heat comes from three sources:
1. Weather: Summer heat causes thirst; sun exposure causes thirst; heatstroke causes thirst.
2. Food: Fried, roasted, spicy foods cause thirst. Boiled peanuts do not cause thirst, but fried ones do. Boiled/steamed pork does not cause thirst, but fried pork does. Different cooking methods affect the body differently, causing thirst.
3. Emotions: Suppressed anger causes Qi and blood stagnation and reversal, transforming into Heat, causing thirst.
When the body is weak, Dryness-Heat consumes Water in the Upper Jiao (leading to excessive drinking), consumes Food in the Middle Jiao (leading to excessive eating), and consumes due to Kidney Deficiency in the Lower Jiao (leading to excessive urination).
Why is the body weak? How do Dryness-Heat enter the body?
4. Common Cold: Colds are categorized as Wind, Summer-heat, Cold, Dampness, Dryness, Fire. Anti-inflammatory drugs damage the Heart and Kidneys, causing deficiency. Wind-Cold invades internally. Eating dry foods (fried foods, roasted peanuts, biscuits, chili peppers) combines food Dryness with Wind-Cold, causing dry mouth and thirst.
5. Sexual Excess: Sexual activity damages the Kidneys. Wind-Cold enters the Heart and Kidneys due to deficiency. Thirst occurs, and eating cold foods leads to bland taste. Eating dry foods further damages Kidney Yin.
San Xiao results from body weakness: Wind-Cold and dry foods combine in the Upper Jiao (Shang Xiao), Middle Jiao (Zhong Xiao), or Lower Jiao due to sexual excess or anti-inflammatory kidney damage (Xia Xiao).
Although Xiao Ke is divided into Shang, Zhong, and Xia, and differs by Lung Dryness, Stomach Heat, and Kidney Deficiency, the symptoms often coexist, differing only in severity. One symptom may be prominent while others are mild. Therefore, treatment of Shang, Zhong, and Xia Xiao must be based on pattern differentiation (Bian Zheng).
