A pulse that is deep, faint, and not rapid is called Cold Jue (Cold Reversal Syndrome) [Han Jue (Cold Reversal)], which results from excessive sexual indulgence during autumn and winter, causing Yang Qi to be depleted internally, essence and Qi to leak downward, leading to Yang deficiency and the solitary dominance of Yin Qi.
A pulse that is deep and rapid is called Heat Jue (Heat Reversal Syndrome) [Re Jue (Heat Reversal)], which results from sexual intercourse after overeating and drinking, causing Yin Qi to be deficient, Yang Qi to enter internally, Kidney Qi to decline, and Yang to dominate exclusively.
For cases of Qi Deficiency [Qi Xu], Si Jun Zi Tang (Four Gentlemen Decoction) is the primary formula.
For cases of Blood Deficiency [Xue Xu], Si Wu Tang (Four Substance Decoction) is the primary formula.
For Heat syndromes, Cheng Qi Tang (Order the Qi Decoction) is used to purge downwards.
For Phlegm syndromes, Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma) and Zhu Li (Bamboo Sap) are used.
Due to Kidney Qi decline, Water fails to control Fire; Fire scorches Lung Metal, leading to Wei Syndrome (Flaccidity Syndrome) [Wei Zheng], characterized by inability to use the limbs. This is caused by excess sexual desire, and treatment should focus on purging fire and tonifying deficiency.
Qing Shu Yi Qi Tang (Clear Summerheat and Boost Qi Decoction) treats Wei Syndrome caused by the Lung being scorched by Fire.

For Damp-Phlegm, Er Chen Tang (Two Aged Decoction) is added with Si Jun Zi Tang (Four Gentlemen Decoction).
Bi Syndrome (Arthralgia) [Bi Zheng] is formed by the combination of Wind, Cold, and Dampness. When Cold Qi dominates, it is Painful Bi [Tong Bi]; Cold is Yin, so pain is severe at night. When Dampness dominates, it is Fixed Bi [Zhuo Bi]; the pathogen remains fixed in the muscles. When Wind dominates, it is Wandering Bi [Xing Bi]; Wind is Yang, so it travels through the meridians and symptoms worsen. A slow pulse indicates Cold, a rapid pulse indicates Heat, a floating pulse indicates Wind, a soggy pulse indicates Dampness, and a slippery pulse indicates Deficiency. Treatment methods should be chosen according to suitability.
