Around half a month postpartum, alternating chills and fever occur with regular timing, resembling malaria syndrome. This is caused by exhaustion of both qi and blood; yang deficiency leads to cold, while yin deficiency leads to heat. By regulating qi and tonifying blood, the chills and fever will naturally resolve. Do not use Bupleuri Radix (Chaihu) to release the exterior, nor Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin), Coptidis Rhizoma (Huanglian), Gardeniae Fructus (Zhizi), or Phellodendri Cortex (Huangbai) to reduce fever, as this often leads to critical conditions that are incurable. Instead, administer Renyang Yangwei Tang (Ginseng Stomach-Nourishing Decoction) and Shenzhu Gao (Ginseng and Atractylodes Macrocephala Paste) during day and night.

The Heart stores Shen (Spirit); the Liver stores Hun (Ethereal Soul). When the Heart has blood, Shen resides; when the Liver receives blood, vision functions. Postpartum, qi and blood suddenly become deficient, leaving Shen and Hun without foundation or support. This results in incoherent speech and visual hallucinations. Do not mistakenly attribute these symptoms to demonic possession or rely on talismanic waters for treatment, as this often proves fatal. If abdominal masses/pain persist, first administer Anshen Tang (Calming Spirit Decoction). Once the mass pain resolves, urgently administer Buyuan Tang (Tonify Origin Decoction) to cultivate qi and blood, which will ensure complete recovery. This is a fixed protocol.
