Prescription for Women to Frequently Take for Disease Prevention:
Take one *jin* (approx. 500g) of Cyperi Rhizoma (*Xiangfu*), soaked thoroughly in the urine of a healthy young boy, washed with water, exposed to the air overnight, and dried in the sun. Repeat this process three times. Take twelve *liang* (approx. 375g) of Motherwort Herba (*Yimucao*), dry it by roasting or baking, and grind both the processed Cyperi Rhizoma and the dried Motherwort Herba into fine powder. Then, take four *liang* of Cyperi Rhizoma and one *liang* of Mugwort Folium (*Aiye*) to decoct in water to obtain the juice. Add more than half a bowl of vinegar to the juice. Use this liquid to bind the powder into pills the size of a Chinese quince seed (*Wuzi*). Take one hundred pills daily on an empty stomach.
This prescription can treat various diseases in women, and its efficacy regarding fertility is miraculous. It can be taken during pregnancy and postpartum, offering unparalleled divine effects and efficacy far exceeding ordinary remedies; it is truly a celestial prescription.
Diagnosis is made by observing the area above the nose bridge and between the eyes. A red color indicates Heart Heat (*Xin Re*); red veins appearing horizontally or vertically at the Shan Gen (root of the nose) also indicate Heart Heat. A purple color indicates severe Heart Heat accompanied by Lung Heat. A greenish-blue color indicates Liver Wind (*Gan Feng*); blue-green veins appearing horizontally or vertically at the Shan Gen indicate Liver Heat. Vertical appearance suggests wind pathogen moving upward, while horizontal appearance suggests wind pathogen moving downward. A black color indicates severe wind pathogen with Cold in the Lungs. A white color indicates Phlegm in the Lungs. A yellow color indicates Spleen-Stomach Deficiency leading to diarrhea. Observing these colors reveals the nature of the disease.
For adults, pulse diagnosis is performed at the Cun, Guan, and Chi positions. For children, however, one only needs to observe whether the pulse rate is rapid. An extremely rapid pulse indicates Heat (*Re*), while a less rapid pulse indicates Cold (*Han*). A rapid yet floating pulse indicates Wind (*Feng*). A deep pulse indicates Cold (*Han*). A slow pulse indicates Dampness (*Shi*). A choppy pulse indicates Pathogenic factors (*Xie*). A slippery pulse indicates Phlegm (*Tan*). A pulse with intermittent pauses indicates Pain (*Tong*). That is all; there is no need to discuss further.
Regarding the Three Passes (Wind, Qi, Life) on the tiger's mouth area of children: Purple color indicates Heat, Red indicates Cold, Greenish-blue indicates Convulsive Disorder due to Wind (*Jing Feng*), and White indicates Infantile Malnutrition (*Gan*). Involvement of the Wind Pass (first segment) indicates mild illness; the Qi Pass (second segment) indicates severe illness; if the discoloration extends to the Life Pass (third segment/fingertip), the condition is difficult to treat.
If blue-green veins appear vertically above the Shan Gen, it indicates Liver Heat. The formula is:
Bupleuri Radix (*Chaihu*, 3 fen), Paeoniae Radix Alba (*Baishao*, 1 qian), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (*Danggui*, 5 fen), Pinelliae Tuber (*Banxia*, 3 fen), Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (*Baizhu*, 5 fen), Poria (*Fuling*, 1 qian), Crataegi Fructus (*Shanzha*, 3 grains), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (*Gancao*, 1 fen).
Decoct in water and take orally.
If blue-green veins appear horizontally, it is also Liver Heat. However, vertical appearance indicates wind moving upward, and horizontal appearance indicates wind moving downward. Use the same formula as above, adding Bupleuri Radix (*Chaihu*, 5 fen), Hordeum Vulgare Fructus Germinatus (*Maiya*, 1 qian), and Zingiberis Rhizoma (*Ganjiang*, 1 fen). Decoct in water and take orally.
If red veins appear vertically, it indicates Heart Heat. Use the same formula as above, adding Coptidis Rhizoma (*Huanglian*, 1 fen), Hordeum Vulgare Fructus Germinatus (*Maiya*, 5 fen), remove Pinelliae Tuber (*Banxia*), and add Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae (*Sangbaipi* - Note: Text says Sangbaipi which usually refers to Morus Alba Cortex, but context implies clearing lung/heat, likely Ophiopogonis Radix or similar heat-clearing herb, sticking to text literal translation "Morus Alba Cortex" or standard "Sangbaipi"), and Trichosanthis Radix (*Tianhuafen*), each 2 fen. Decoct in water and take orally.
If red veins appear diagonally, it indicates Heart Heat. Use the same formula as above, adding Coptidis Rhizoma (*Huanglian*, 2 fen). If heat accumulates in the chest, Pinelliae Tuber (*Banxia*) should not be used; instead, use Morus Alba Cortex (*Sangbaipi*) and Trichosanthis Radix (*Huafen*).
If yellow veins appear at the Shan Gen, regardless of horizontal or vertical orientation, it always indicates a Spleen-Stomach disorder, manifesting as vomiting or diarrhea, abdominal pain, or loss of appetite. The formula is:
Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (*Baizhu*, 5 fen), Poria (*Fuling*, 5 fen), Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (*Chenpi*, 3 fen), Ginseng Radix (*Renshen*, 2 fen), Medicated Leaven (*Shenqu*, 1 fen), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (*Gancao*, 1 fen), Hordeum Vulgare Fructus Germinatus (*Maiya*, 2 fen), Lophatheri Herba (*Dan Zhuyexie*, 7 leaves).
Decoct in water and take orally.
If there is Phlegm, add Pinelliae Tuber (*Banxia*, 1 fen) and Brassicae Semen Album (*Baijiezi*, 3 fen). If there is thirst and Heat, add Ophiopogonis Radix (*Maidong*, 3 fen) and Scutellariae Radix (*Huangqin*, 1 fen). If there is Cold, add Zingiberis Rhizoma (*Ganjiang*, 1 fen). If there is vomiting, add Amomi Fructus Rotundus (*Baidoukou*, 1 grain). If there is diarrhea, add Polyporus (*Zhuling*, 5 fen). If there is abdominal pain that causes loud crying upon pressure, it is Food Retention (*Shi*), so add Rheii Radix et Rhizoma (*Dahuang*, 3 fen) and Aurantii Fructus Immaturus (*Zhishi*, 1 fen). If there is abdominal pain that does not cause crying upon pressure, it is Cold (*Han*), so add Zingiberis Rhizoma (*Ganjiang*, 3 fen). If the body has fever, do not use this formula.
