[Nasal Qigong Methods]
Method 1: Sit facing east, hold the breath for three cycles (not exhaling), and pinch/nip both nostrils with fingers to treat nasal disorders. Cross-legged sitting can also treat nasal disorders, as well as carbuncles and sores on the feet; it removes nasal discharge and saliva, clears the nasal passages, and restores the ability to distinguish odors. Persistent practice leads to acute olfaction, perceiving scents from all directions.
Method 2: Assume a squatting posture, bring the knees together, spread the feet apart, and hold the breath for five cycles. This treats nasal ulcers.
Method 3: Sit upright with the spine straight, slowly inhale through the nose, and use the right hand to pinch/nip the nose. This eliminates dim vision and painful tearing. Then, slowly close the eyes and exhale. It also treats nasal polyps, deafness, and headache with aversion to cold caused by *Shanghan* (Cold Damage). All practices should be performed until sweating occurs, which serves as the limit.
Method 4: Sit facing east, hold the breath for three cycles, and use the hands to pinch/nip both nostrils to treat nasal polyps.
Summary:
This section proposes qigong methods for nasal health care, such as "pinching both nostrils with fingers," "pinching the nose with the right hand," and "holding the breath for three cycles." For detailed explanations, refer to "Chapter 14, Tonification Gate."
[Auricular Qigong Methods]
Method 1: Sit on the ground with legs crossed, insert both hands from between the bent knees, lower the head, and cross the hands behind the neck. This treats chronic coldness where the body cannot warm itself naturally, and deafness.
Method 2: Place the feet on the back of the neck, and hold the breath for twelve cycles. This will certainly cure severe coldness without sensation of warmth, chronic stubborn cold diseases, deafness, and vertigo. Persistent practice makes this method proficient; even at age fifty or sixty, the physical form remains unchanged (by cold pathogens).
Summary:
This chapter uses two qigong methods—"sitting on the ground with legs crossed, inserting hands from the knee bends, lowering the head, and crossing hands behind the neck" and "placing feet on the neck while holding the breath for twelve cycles"—to treat ear diseases. However, these methods are difficult, especially placing the feet on the neck, which is hard to practice. It can be combined with other methods such as "Ming Tian Gu" (Beating the Heavenly Drum).
