Prepared Rehmanniae Radix (Shu Di Huang, six taels, cut into pieces) Ziziphi Spinosae Semen (Suan Zao Ren, three taels, crushed, stir-fried until cooked) Angelicae Sinensis Radix Corpus (Dang Gui Shen, two taels, mixed with wine, sun-dried, stir-fried) Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Bai Zhu, four taels, mixed with human milk, sun-dried, stir-fried until yellow) Paeoniae Radix Alba (Bai Shao, one tael and five qian, mixed with honey and wine, sun-dried, stir-fried) Poria Cum Ramo Cedri et Pinus (Bai Fu Shen, two taels and four qian) Polygalae Radix (Yuan Zhi Rou, remove the heart, boiled thoroughly in Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, sun-dried, one tael and five qian) Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix (Huai Niu Xi, two taels, mixed with wine, sun-dried) Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus (Wu Wei Zi, one tael, crushed) Ophiopogonis Japonici Radix (Mai Men Dong, remove the heart, two taels, mixed with old rice, stir-fried until yellow) Cinnamomi Cortex (Rou Gui, remove all coarse bark before decoction, eight qian) First, use Jian Lotus Seeds (Jian Lian Zi), remove the heart and skin, two jin, add clear water to decoct to obtain the first and second decoctions. Remove the lotus seeds, add the aforementioned herbs, decoct to obtain the first and second decoctions, filter out the dregs, and slowly simmer into an extremely thick paste. Add the fine powder of the aforementioned herbs to form pills. This formula tonifies the Minister Fire (Jun Huo, Heart Fire) above to generate Yangming Stomach Earth, and tonifies the Minister Fire (Xiang Huo, Mingmen Fire) below to tonify Taiyin Spleen Earth. By tonifying fire to generate earth, and simultaneously tonifying water to nourish earth, the earth naturally acquires the function of transformation and generation. For if the earth is moist earth, it is useful; if it becomes dry and cracked earth, it is useless. In humans, this manifests as diseases such as dryness, obstruction, and dysphagia. Moreover, if Heart Qi descends, Kidney Yin will naturally ascend to communicate with the Heart. The Lung receives clear and descending qi to transmit downwards, generating Metal and Water without exhaustion. Once Liver Blood is abundant, Kidney Yin becomes even more sufficient. When Wood flourishes, Earth is not over-controlled. With organs and bowels generating each other, Spirit naturally grows. Once Dragon Fire (Minister Fire) is hidden below, Yin Essence can naturally offer itself upwards.
The mind is like wood or stone (devoid of emotional attachment), observing that the body formed by the temporary combination of the Four Elements (Earth, Water, Fire, Wind) is one [method]. When vexation arises, regard it as death, which is the second [method]. Often compare oneself with those inferior to oneself to cleverly comfort oneself, which is the third [method]. The Creator labors me with life; encountering illness brings leisure, so instead feel fortunate, which is the fourth [method]. When experiencing pain and discomfort, consider it unavoidable karmic retribution from past lives, and only accept it with joy, which is the fifth [method]. Maintain family harmony without words of mutual blame, which is the sixth [method]. All sentient beings have roots of disease; frequently observe and restrain/cure them, which is the seventh [method]. Strictly prevent wind and dew invasion, keep desires and cravings light, which is the eighth [method]. Regarding diet, moderation is better than excess; regarding daily routine, comfort is essential, do not force yourself, which is the ninth [method]. Engage in conversations with noble people and good friends about opening the heart and transcending worldly matters, which is the tenth [method].
