痘本胎毒，俗名天疮。虽疠气之传染，实杀机之显彰，变迁莫测，酷恶难当。肌肉
溃脱兮，若蛇脱皮，龙脱骨。精神困顿兮，如蚓在灰，鳝在汤。疮有疏密兮，疏者轻而
密者重。毒有微甚兮，微则祥而甚则殃，笑彼拘于日数者，未达迟速之变，悲夫惑于鬼
神者，不求医药之良。
乾坤妙合，震巽分张，受气于父兮，得阳精而凝结。成形于母兮，赖阴血以培养，
民多嗜欲，气匪淳庞，淫火炽于衽席，食秽蓄于膏梁。精血禀其毒瓦斯兮，甚于射罔，形
体负其杀气兮，险于锋芒。
五运统于南北兮，有太有少。六气分于主客兮，曰阴曰阳，变化各正，胜负靡常。
得其序而气治兮，国无疵疠，失其序而气乱兮，民有疹疡。应至而不至兮，其气徐。贵
迎之以夺其势，未应至而至兮，其气暴，姑持之以避其强，不知此而妄作兮，违时者
败，能审此而慎动兮，顺天者昌。
春令温和而升生，夏令暑热而浮长，秋令清凉而降收，冬令寒冽而沉藏，是得四时
之正，不为万物之伤。冬反焕暖兮，勾萌早发，春反凛冽兮，蛰虫且藏，夏反清肃兮，
凉风袭肉。秋反蒸褥兮，暑汗沾裳，若此逆气兮，染之者即成疫疠。又有虚风兮，中之
者必致夭伤。受父母之秽毒兮，隐于黝僻。触天地之疠气兮，发其伏藏。自内而出兮，
布于四体。自外而散兮，根于五脏。可喜者苗而秀，秀而实，如鸟之脱距，所恶者枯而
陷，陷而伏，如虎之伏岗。
东赤南白，西黄北黑，各分布而有定。春生夏长，秋收冬藏，自流行而无疆。初出
血点兮，红鲜得生之气。次化生液兮，白莹渐长之状。脓成而色黄兮，欲收之候，痂结
而色黑兮，已藏之象，谓肾无症者，似去冬不能成岁，谓黑为逆者，如废白何以调阳。
方其发生兮，春夏为顺，秋冬非吉。及其收敛兮，秋冬为顺，而春夏不藏，应发生
而反收敛者，谓之陷伏，应收敛而反发生者，谓之烂疡。治不乖方兮，险变顺而春回
幽谷。药不对病兮，险变逆而火烈 岗。
病似顺而反逆兮，认之要确。病似逆而反顺兮，察之贵祥。似粟堆聚坚碍兮，孰若
磊落而稠密，如丹艳赤骄嫩兮，不如淡白而老苍。初出现而涵水，年起发而戴浆。脓未
成兮，干黑，囊未满而萎黄，早发先为兮，
如园林之花蕊暴长，遽消兮，似沟润之潦潢，是谓夺命之证，休夸折肱之良。
轻或变重兮，误服药而犯禁忌，重或变轻兮，得遇医而且善调养，蚊迹蚤斑兮，不
旋踵而告变，蛇皮蚕壳兮，惟束乎以待亡，夹斑疹者，斑疹消而足喜，顶平陷者，平陷
起而莫惶，病有标本兮，视缓急以立法。药有补泻兮，因虚实而立方。
嘻嘻兮，医无定法。迷乱兮，药无定方。大率贱攻而贵补，故多喜温而恶凉。设
若病遇虚寒兮，温补有效。假若证属实热兮，辛香敢尝，辛热下咽，阳之盛者必困。
苦寒入胃，阴之盛者乃戕，戒汗下于首尾兮，恶攻之说。补脾土以制肾水兮，喜补之
常，不识补者之短，奚论攻者之长。
形尖圆而光壮兮，气之充拓。色鲜明而润泽兮，血之涵养，可以勿药，是谓无恙。
灰白平陷兮，血气虚而补之以温。红艳鲜肿兮，气血热而泻之以凉。气至而血不足兮，
虽起发根窠不肥。血至而气不足兮，虽明润郛郭不长。泥章句以举一隅者，守株安可得
兔驰，辨说而执两端者，多岐必然亡羊。
脾为水谷之本，固不可以不补，肾为津液之源，尤不可以不将，土虽为水之防，水
能制火之亢，肾主骨髓兮，倒陷入于骨髓者莫救。肾司闭藏兮，变黑至于闭藏者可防，
是皆归肾之害，岂可谓肾之强。毒火燔灼兮，肾水且涸。营气败坏兮，脾土亦伤，故
补脾不如救肾，而养阴所以滋阳。
炅则气血淖泽而不敛，寒则气血凝涩而不彰。气血失养，痘疹受伤，或受于热兮，
为烦燥为赤为痛。或受于寒兮，为惊悸为白为痒。顺时令之寒暄。禁人畜之来往，勿动
溷厕之臭，勿烧檀麝之香，恐乘虚而易入，反助毒以为殃。痘虽吉而犯多凶，屡经怪
变，症虽恶而调则善，终见安康。
若夫疮疹之热兮，相似内外之伤，邪火 赫兮，玉石俱焚。真水静顺兮，波浪不
扬。喷嚏咳嗽兮，肺金流灼。项急顿闷兮，肝木被创。呵欠惊悸兮，心虽君主而不宁。
吐泻昏睡兮，脾则仓禀而不藏。各藏有症。惟肾无象，不受秽毒之火，独见耳 之凉，
热微兮毒少，热甚兮火旺，大热安静兮，毒随热出而无虑。小热烦燥兮，毒与热留而可
防。凶灾莫测兮，又热又渴。轻疏可许兮，乍热乍凉。吐泻勿止兮，使毒得越而无遏。
惊悸不定兮，恐毒深入而反藏。血妄泄于空窍兮，死期速于弹指。语妄涉于鬼神兮，变
候易于反掌。
形症定乎疏密，部位决其存亡。如痘纷布兮，且颗粒而其疏已定，如麻堆聚兮，更
模糊而其密堪伤，挨颊绕口兮，庚戊阳明之位，颧间额上兮，且壬丙太阳之乡。头为元
首之尊，最怕蒙头，项乃关津之要，还嫌锁项，鼻准初出兮。淫毒犯于天根，耳叶先现
兮，邪火侵乎玉堂。
渐次出兮吉兆，齐涌出兮凶状。痘将出而热减兮，药勿妄服，痘正出而热剧兮，医
宜早防。解其火毒兮，恐郁遏而干枯。养其气血兮，欲流行而疏畅。远寒热之犯兮，损
之益之，而必使和平。助春夏之令兮，达之发之，而必使长旺。治其未乱兮，彻桑土于
迨雨，知其防渐兮，诚坚冰于履霜。
出欲尽而不留，发欲透而齐长。苗渐成窠兮，气之所 。肉化脓兮，血之所养，
疏则毒少兮，头面不肿而休怕，密则毒多兮，气血不充而宜慌。时日既足兮，自翘翘
而杂起，表里无邪兮，勿汲汲以作汤，所谓良将用兵，善攻不如善藏。咽候急痛兮，勿
违时而早治。头面预肿兮，但引日以必亡。小便欲清兮，大便却欲其坚实，淡味可食
兮，浓味不可以啖。尝茹淡者，胃气不损，养浓者火邪益亢，或见黑 兮，点之以胭
脂，或遇干枯兮，浴之以水扬，瘙痒忽生兮，取茵陈以熏燎，爬搔不宁兮，虽扁鹊而
彷徨。
痘长满水，毒化成浆，爱其稠密兮，恶其清淡，取其满足兮，舍其虚痒。欲知透与
不透兮，于手足而细察。欲知足与不足兮，于辅颊以端祥，设四末之未透，取脾胃而服
药，如一方之未足，视经络以求方。
面颊最嫌破损，肩背尤怕。焦囊肿忽消兮气脱，语忽妄兮神亡，食谷则呕兮胃烂，
饮水则呛兮咽伤，切牙兮肝火炽而肾败，寒战兮阳气弱而阴强，脓反干兮倒陷，脓不成
兮伏藏，叫哭不止兮毒攻肠胃，闷乱不宁兮火烈鬲肓，仓禀不藏兮魂魄归冥漠，水泉不
止兮姻亲泣于北邙。
脓血已化，败靥相当。痂自唇吻兮，浆吐结如珠玉。靥自人中兮，部分界乎阴阳，
令行秋冬兮，根据先后而不乱。气应收藏兮，备上下而有常，颧上平干兮，虑乎倒靥，额
间先收兮，谓之不详。痂不着而壅肿兮由荣血之漫溢，疮尽裂而皱揭兮，此卫气之残
伤，当靥不靥，当藏不藏，便秘未通兮，里气热而凉导，便溏不实兮，中气虚而温养，
热伤皮毛兮，怪肺金不收余气，湿伤肌肉兮，责脾土不燥残浆，头疮堆脓不平兮，孤
阳似鳏而不生，足疮包水不干兮，纯阴如寡而不长，饮食减少兮，迤逦引日而毙，烦热
增剧兮，倏忽绝命而亡。
若间痂皮不脱，其间病气之相妨。痘若败坏兮，补空痘勿疑番次，疮如溃烂兮，成
溃疮莫厌脓浆，遍身浸淫兮，粘背席而最苦，正面肿灌兮，忌腥臭而再妨。利多水液
兮，此蓄水之病也，水去尽而自止。便多脓血兮，此倒靥之症也，脓去尽而可祥。瘢痕
四昌兮，陷者虚而突者实。痂皮嫩薄兮，里则困而外则疡。头面燥痛兮，百花膏沫。遍
身溃烂兮，败草铺床。
邪气尽而正复，痂皮脱而身康。苟幼躯之多病，定余毒之有藏，出或未尽兮，无空
痘，须防卒暴。发或未透兮，无溃脓，必发疽疡。不及时兮早收，毒火陷而可虑。或过
期兮不靥，邪气留而堪怅，身热审其虚羸，咽哑观乎呕呛。忽洒淅而肌热兮，知风寒之
外感。暴吐泻而腹痛兮，必饮食之内伤。病有苦而眩晕兮，凶多吉少之占。身无邪而昏
瞀兮，否去泰来之象。声音不出兮，求诸肺肾之经。斑疹复现兮，责其心脾之脏。疳蚀
出血者，难治。洞泻完谷者不祥。勿谓痘收而纵驰，勿谓毒去而迨遑，正气浸长而未
复，邪气方消而未央，特犯禁忌兮，今即生变，恣食肥甘兮，后必有殃。
疥癞腐溃兮，一面黥斑而似鬼。痈疽流注兮，四肢残废而如 。目肿赤痛兮，冷痘
入而成翳。齿宣黑烂兮，热毒浸而溃床。虽曰余毒之为害，抑皆调理之失常。形容顿改
兮，令人骇愕，疗治悔迟兮，空自惆怅，谓人不能胜天兮，何以立乎医药？谓医不如用
巫兮，安能格乎穹苍？
但逢出痘之岁，多求解毒之方，审岁气之灾祥兮，必解其郁，视殊气之勇怯兮，各
平其脏，欲避疠气传染兮，必先择地之善，欲仗药力调护兮，尤要识医之良。大抵医要
识症，药不执方，专行温补者，则宗乎文中。喜用凉泻者，则师乎仲阳。不解其书
兮，似瞽瞑行于溪径，未会其神兮，知矮仰望乎宫墙。

天地阴阳奇妙结合，震巽二气分化张开。胎儿禀受父亲之气，得到阳精而凝结；成形于母亲，依赖阴血来培养。世人多纵情嗜欲，导致气质不再淳厚朴实，淫火在床第间炽盛，污秽食物积蓄于膏粱厚味之中。精血禀受了毒瓦斯，比射罔（一种毒药）更厉害；形体背负着杀气，比锋利的刀刃更危险。
五运统辖南北，有太有少；六气分为主客，分为阴阳。变化各得其正，胜负无常。顺应了次序则气化正常，国家没有瘟疫疾病；失去了次序则气化紊乱，百姓出现疹疡等病。应至而未至的气，其势缓慢，应当迎前以夺取其势头；未应至而至的气，其势暴烈，姑且持守以避开其强势。不了解这些而妄动，违背时令就会失败；能审慎此理而谨慎行动，顺应天道就能昌盛。
春令温和利于升发生发，夏令暑热利于浮长，秋令清凉利于降收，冬令寒冽利于沉藏，这是符合四时的正道，不会伤害万物。如果冬天反而温暖，勾萌（植物嫩芽）过早发芽；春天反而凛冽，蛰虫依然潜伏；夏天反而清肃，凉风侵袭肌肤；秋天反而蒸热，暑汗沾湿衣裳。像这样的逆气，染上的人就会成为疫疠。又有虚风，中伤者必然导致夭折受伤。禀受父母的秽毒，隐伏在幽暗偏僻之处；触动天地的疠气，引发其伏藏之毒。从体内发出，布散于四肢；从体表消散，根源在于五脏。可喜的是苗秀、结实，如鸟脱距；可恶的是枯陷、伏匿，如虎伏岗。
东方赤色，南方白色，西方黄色，北方黑色，各自分布而有定规。春生夏长，秋收冬藏，自然流行而无边界。初出血点时，红鲜得生发之气；次化生液时，白莹呈渐长之状；脓成而色黄，是欲收敛的征候；痂结而色黑，是已闭藏的象。说肾无病症，就像冬天不能成岁；说黑色为逆证，就像废白何以调阳。
在其发生阶段，春夏为顺，秋冬非吉。到了收敛阶段，秋冬为顺，春夏若不藏则为逆。应发生而反收敛的，称为陷伏；应收敛而反发生的，称为烂疡。治疗不违背法度，险变转为顺境，如春回幽谷；药不对症，险变转为逆境，如火烈山岗。
病看似顺却反逆，认识要确切；病看似逆却反顺，观察要吉祥。像粟米堆聚坚碍，不如磊落而稠密好；如丹砂艳赤骄嫩，不如淡白而老苍好。初出现时含水滋润，年起发时戴浆饱满。脓未成而干黑，囊未满而萎黄，早发先为，如园林花蕊暴长；遽消，似沟润积水泛滥，这叫做夺命之证，不要夸耀折肱多年的良医。
轻症可能变重，因误服药而犯禁忌；重症可能变轻，因遇到好医生且善于调养。蚊迹蚤斑，转眼即告变局；蛇皮蚕壳，只束缚等待死亡。夹带斑疹者，斑疹消退而值得欢喜；顶平陷者，平陷突起而不必惊慌。病有标本，视缓急以确立治法；药有补泻，因虚实而制定方剂。
唉，医生没有固定的法则；迷乱中，药物没有固定的方子。大抵轻视攻伐而重视补益，所以大多喜欢温补而厌恶寒凉。假如病遇虚寒，温补有效；假若证属实热，辛香敢尝。辛热下咽，阳气盛者必受困；苦寒入胃，阴气盛者乃受戕害。戒除在首尾使用汗下法，厌恶攻伐之说；补脾土以制肾水，是喜欢补益的常理。不认识补法的短处，哪里谈论攻法的长处。

Smallpox originates from fetal toxin, commonly known as "Heavenly Sore" (Tian Chuang). Although it is contagious via pestilential qi (Li Qi), it is essentially the manifestation of a killing mechanism. Its changes are unpredictable, and its cruelty and severity are hard to bear. Muscles ulcerate and shed, like snakes shedding skin or dragons shedding bones; spirit and energy are exhausted, like earthworms in ash or eels in boiling water. The sores have sparse and dense distributions: sparse indicates mildness, while dense indicates severity. Toxins vary in degree: mild toxins bring auspiciousness, while severe toxins bring disaster. It is laughable to those who stick to the number of days, failing to understand the variations of speed; it is pitiable to those confused by ghosts and gods, who do not seek good medicine.
The wonderful union of Heaven and Earth, with Zhen and Xun energies expanding, receives qi from the father, condensing through yang essence. It takes form from the mother, relying on yin blood for nourishment. People indulge in desires, causing their qi to lose its purity and simplicity. Lustful fire blazes in the bedroom, and filth accumulates in rich foods. The essence and blood inherit toxic vapors, worse than She Wang (a type of poison); the body bears killing energy, more dangerous than sharp blades.
The Five Movements (Wu Yun) govern North and South, having Tai and Shao aspects. The Six Qi (Liu Qi) divide into Host and Guest, Yin and Yang. Changes each attain correctness, victory and defeat are constant. When order is maintained, qi is regulated, and there are no epidemics in the state; when order is lost, qi is chaotic, and people suffer from rashes and ulcers. Qi that should arrive but does not arrives slowly; one should anticipate and seize its momentum. Qi that should not arrive but does arrives violently; one should hold back to avoid its strength. Not knowing this and acting rashly leads to failure against time; understanding this and acting cautiously leads to prosperity following Heaven.
Spring is warm and promotes growth; Summer is hot and promotes floating and lengthening; Autumn is cool and promotes descending and gathering; Winter is cold and promotes sinking and storing. This follows the correct pattern of the four seasons and does not harm all things. If Winter is unexpectedly warm, buds sprout early; if Spring is unexpectedly cold, hibernating insects remain hidden; if Summer is unexpectedly crisp, cool winds strike the flesh; if Autumn is unexpectedly steaming, summer sweat wets clothes. Such contrary qi causes infection leading to epidemics. There is also empty wind; those struck by it inevitably suffer premature death or injury. Emitted from within, they spread to the four limbs; dissipated from outside, their root lies in the five zang organs. What is pleasant is budding and fruiting, like birds shedding spurs; what is loathsome is withering and collapsing, like tigers lying in wait.
East is red, South is white, West is yellow, North is black, each distributed with certainty. Spring generates, Summer lengthens, Autumn gathers, Winter stores, flowing naturally without boundaries. Initially appearing as blood spots, red and fresh, obtaining the qi of life. Next transforming into fluid, white and bright, showing the state of gradual growth. Pus forms and turns yellow, indicating the desire to gather; scabs form and turn black, indicating the image of closing storage. Saying the Kidney has no symptoms is like saying Winter cannot complete the year; saying black is adverse is like asking how waste-white can regulate Yang.
During its emergence, Spring and Summer are favorable, Autumn and Winter are not auspicious. During its convergence, Autumn and Winter are favorable, while Spring and Summer failing to store are adverse. Emergence turning to convergence is called "Sunken and Hidden"; Convergence turning to emergence is called "Rotting Ulcer". Treatment not deviating from the method turns danger into smoothness, like spring returning to a secluded valley; Medicine not matching the disease turns danger into adversity, like fire raging on a ridge.
Disease seeming smooth but actually adverse requires accurate recognition; Disease seeming adverse but actually smooth requires careful observation. Accumulating like millet piles and obstructing is inferior to being open and dense; Bright red like cinnabar and tender is inferior to pale white and aged. Initial appearance containing water, rising with浆 (plasma/serum). Pus not yet formed but dry and black, sac not full but withered yellow, emerging early like garden flower buds growing rapidly; suddenly disappearing like floodwater in ditches, this is called a "Life-Stealing Syndrome", do not boast of the skill of breaking an arm three times.
Mild cases may become severe due to taking wrong medicine and violating taboos; Severe cases may become mild due to meeting a good doctor and proper care. Mosquito bites and flea marks change instantly; Snake skins and silkworm shells only bind waiting for death. Accompanied by macules and papules, their disappearance is joyful; Flat or sunken tops, their rising is not alarming. Disease has root and branch, establishing methods based on urgency. Medicine has tonification and purgation, prescribing formulas based on deficiency and excess.
Alas, doctors have no fixed methods; In confusion, medicines have no fixed formulas. Generally, attacking is despised and tonifying is valued, so warmth is preferred and coolness is disliked. If the disease encounters deficiency-cold, warming and tonifying are effective. If the syndrome presents as excess-heat, pungent aromatics are dared to be tasted. Pungent-hot substances entering the throat will distress those with excessive Yang; Bitter-cold substances entering the stomach will injure those with excessive Yin. Avoid sweating and purging at the beginning and end, detesting the theory of attack; Tonify Spleen Earth to control Kidney Water, favoring the norm of tonification. Without knowing the shortcomings of tonification, how can one discuss the strengths of attack?
Sharp and round shapes with luster indicate abundant Qi; Bright and moist colors indicate nourished Blood. No medicine is needed, this is called "No Illness". Gray-white and flat/sunken indicate deficient Qi and Blood, treated with warmth; Red-bright and swollen indicate Heat in Qi and Blood, treated with cooling. Qi arriving but Blood insufficient results in unfat roots even after eruption; Blood arriving but Qi insufficient results in unexpanded borders even if bright and moist. Clinging to text to infer one corner, guarding the stump cannot catch the rabbit; Arguing while holding two extremes, many paths inevitably lose the sheep.
Spleen is the root of water and grain, certainly cannot be neglected for tonification; Kidney is the source of fluids, especially cannot be neglected for maintenance. Earth although prevents Water, Water can restrain Fire's hyperactivity. Kidney governs bone marrow, involution into bone marrow is incurable; Kidney governs closure and storage, turning black until closure can be prevented. These are harms attributed to the Kidney, how can one say the Kidney is strong? Toxic fire blazing, Kidney Water dries up; Ying Qi ruined, Spleen Earth also injured. Thus, tonifying Spleen is不如 saving Kidney, and nourishing Yin thus nourishes Yang.
Heat makes Qi and Blood slippery and unconvergent; Cold makes Qi and Blood stagnant and unmanifest. Qi and Blood losing nourishment,痘疹 (smallpox/rubella) injured. Or injured by heat, manifesting as irritability, redness, pain; Or injured by cold, manifesting as palpitations, whiteness, itching. Follow seasonal cold and warmth, prohibit human and animal movement, avoid latrine odors, avoid burning sandalwood and musk, fearing entry through deficiency, assisting toxin to cause disaster. Smallpox although auspicious, violating taboos brings much misfortune, experiencing strange changes; Syndrome although evil, regulating well brings goodness, finally seeing health.
Regarding the heat of sores and rashes, similar to internal and external injuries. Evil fire blazing, jade and stone burn together; True Water calm and smooth, waves do not rise. Sneezing and coughing, Lung Metal flows with burning; Neck stiffness and sudden oppression, Liver Wood is wounded; Yawning and palpitations, Heart although Monarch is unsettled; Vomiting, diarrhea, and drowsiness, Spleen granary does not store. Each organ has symptoms, only Kidney has no image, not receiving filth-toxin fire, uniquely showing cold ears. Mild heat means little toxin, severe heat means strong fire; Great heat with calmness means toxin exits with heat without worry; Mild heat with irritability means toxin stays with heat and can be prevented. Unpredictable disaster, both heat and thirst; Mild and loose allows, alternating heat and cool. Vomiting and diarrhea not stopping, allowing toxin to escape without obstruction; Palpitations unsettled, fearing toxin deepening and hiding. Blood leaking randomly from orifices, death faster than snapping fingers; Delirious speech involving ghosts, changes easier than flipping a hand.
Form and symptoms determined by density, location determines survival or death. Like smallpox spreading, particles sparse already determined; Like measles piling up, blurred dense is hurtful. Cheeks and mouth encircled, Geng-Wu Yangming position; Cheekbones and forehead, Ren-Bing Taiyang region. Head is the respected chief, most feared covering head; Neck is the key pass, still dislikes locking neck. Nose tip initially appears, lustful toxin attacks Tian Gen; Ear leaf first shows, evil fire invades Yu Tang.
Gradual emergence is auspicious, simultaneous surge is ominous. Smallpox about to emerge with reduced heat, do not take medicine rashly; Smallpox just emerging with intense heat, doctor should prevent early. Resolve fire toxin, fearing stagnation and drying; Nourish Qi and Blood, desiring flow and smoothness. Avoid cold and heat invasion, reduce or increase, must make peaceful; Assist Spring and Summer commands, reach and emit, must make flourishing. Treat before chaos, repair mulberry roots before rain; Know preventing gradual onset, truly solid ice on walking frost.
Emerge wanting completion without leaving, erupt wanting penetration and uniform growth. Buds gradually forming nests, where Qi arrives; Flesh turning to pus, where Blood nourishes. Sparse means less toxin, head and face not swollen, do not fear; Dense means more toxin, Qi and Blood not sufficient, should panic. Time sufficient, naturally rising mixed; Exterior and Interior free of evil, do not rush to make decoction. So-called good general using troops, good attack不如 good storage. Throat urgent pain, do not delay treating; Head and face pre-swollen, merely extending days leads to death. Urine wants clear, stool wants firm; Light taste edible, heavy taste cannot eat. Tasting light preserves Stomach Qi; Nourishing heavy increases Fire Evil. Or seeing black spots, dot with rouge; Or encountering dryness, bathe with water poplar. Itching suddenly arises, take Artemisia capillaris to fumigate; Scratching restless, even Bian Que hesitates.
Smallpox fills with water, toxin transforms to paste. Love dense, dislike light; Take satisfaction, discard false itch. Want to know penetration or not, examine hands and feet carefully; Want to know sufficiency or not, observe cheeks properly. If extremities not penetrated, take Spleen and Stomach to take medicine; If one area not sufficient, view meridians to seek formula.
Cheeks most dislike damage, shoulders and back especially fear. Scab suddenly disappears, Qi escapes; Speech suddenly delirious, Spirit perishes; Eating grains causes vomiting, Stomach rots; Drinking water causes choking, Pharynx injured. Grinding teeth, Liver Fire blazing and Kidney failing; Chills, Yang Qi weak and Yin strong. Pus reverses to dry, involution; Pus not forming, hidden storage. Crying non-stop, toxin attacks intestines and stomach; Confusion unrest, fire fierce in diaphragm and huang. Granary not storing, soul and魄 return to darkness; Water springs not stopping, relatives weep on Beimang.
Pus and blood transformed, failed scabs appropriate. Scab from lips, plasma exudes knotting like pearls and jade; Scab from Ren Zhong, parts divide Yin and Yang. Commands execute Autumn and Winter, follow sequence without disorder; Qi responds to storage, prepare upper and lower with regularity. Cheekbones flat and dry, worry about inverted scabs; Forehead receding first, called inauspicious. Scab not adhering and swelling, due to Ying Blood overflowing; Sores fully cracking and peeling, this Wei Qi residual injury. When scabbing not scabbing, when storing not storing. Constipation not passing, interior heat guided by cooling; Loose stool not solid, middle Qi deficient warmed and nourished. Heat injuring skin and hair, blame Lung Metal not collecting remaining Qi; Dampness injuring muscle, blame Spleen Earth not drying residual paste. Head sores piling pus uneven, solitary Yang like widower not generating; Foot sores wrapping water not drying, pure Yin like widow not growing. Diet decreasing, gradually leading to death; Irritability and heat increasing, suddenly ending life.
If intermittent scab skin not shedding, pathogenic qi interfering therein. Smallpox if ruined, tonify empty sores without doubting sequence; Sores if ulcerated, do not dislike pus of formed ulcers. Whole body oozing, sticking to bed mat most bitter; Frontal swelling pouring, avoid fishy smell hindering again. Frequent watery discharge, this is water-storage disease, water gone stops itself; Frequent pus and blood in stool, this is inverted scab syndrome, pus gone becomes auspicious. Scars flourishing everywhere, sunken is deficiency and protruding is excess; Scab skin tender and thin, inside distressed and outside ulcerated. Head and face dry and painful, hundred-flower ointment foam; Whole body ulcerated, rotten grass spreading bed.
Evil qi exhausted and Zheng returns, scab skin sheds and body healthy. If young body often ill, surely residual toxin has storage. Erupting or not complete, no empty sores, must prevent sudden violence; Erupting or not penetrated, no ulcerated pus, must develop carbuncles and ulcers. Not timely early gathering, toxic fire sinking worrying; Or overdue not scabbing, evil qi staying regrettable. Body heat examining deficiency and emaciation, hoarse voice observing vomiting and choking. Suddenly shivering and muscle heat, know Wind-Cold external contraction; Sudden vomiting/diarrhea and abdominal pain, surely Food-Stagnation internal injury. Disease suffering with dizziness, omen of much misfortune little luck; Body free of evil but dazed, bad departing good coming image. Voice not issuing, seek Lung and Kidney meridians; Macules/rashes reappearing, blame Heart and Spleen organs. Gan erosion bleeding, difficult to treat; Hole diarrhea undigested grain, inauspicious. Do not say smallpox gathered so relax, do not say toxin gone so delay. Zheng Qi gradually growing but not recovered, Evil Qi just dissipating but not ended. Specifically violating taboos, now immediately generates change; Indulging in rich/greasy food, later surely has disaster.
Scabies and leprosy rotting, one side tattooed spots like ghost; Carbuncle and abscess flowing, four limbs disabled like blind. Eye swelling red and painful, cold smallpox entering forming opacity; Teeth protruding black and rotten, heat toxin infiltrating destroying gums. Although said residual toxin causing harm, all are regulation abnormalities. Appearance suddenly changed, making people startled; Treatment regret late, vainly sighing. Say humans cannot conquer Heaven, how establish medicine? Say doctor不如 using witch, how reach Heaven?
But encountering years of smallpox, mostly seeking detoxifying formulas. Examine year qi disaster/auspiciousness, must resolve depression; View unique qi bravery/cowardice, each balance organs. Want to avoid pestilential contagion, must first select good land; Want to rely on medicine power protection, especially must recognize good doctor. Generally doctor must recognize syndrome, medicine not执方 (stick to formula). Specializing in warming/tonifying, follows Wenzhong; Preferring cooling/purging, models after Zhongyang. Not understanding books, like blind walking in creek paths; Not mastering spirit, know dwarf looking up at palace walls.
