Neiting (ST44, "Inner Court") is located in the depression lateral to the space between the great toe and the second toe. It belongs to the Foot-Yangming Stomach Channel. It can treat cold limbs (cold extremities), where the patient prefers quietness and dislikes hearing voices; it also treats urticaria (wind wheals), sore throat, frequent yawning, and toothache. For malaria, loss of appetite, and tinnitus, needling this point brings clarity and relief.
[Note] Neiting (ST44) is located in the depression between the great toe and the second toe, belonging to the Foot-Yangming Stomach Channel. Its indications include cold limbs (cold extremities), preference for quietness and aversion to hearing voices, unrelieved urticaria, swelling and pain of the throat, frequent yawning, gingival pain, malaria, anorexia, and cicada-like tinnitus. Needle 0.3 cun, retain for ten respiratory cycles, moxibustion three cones.
Quchi (LI11, "Crooked Pool") is located by arching the hands toward the chest and seeking the edge of the elbow bone while flexing the elbow. It is effective in treating pain in the elbow, hemiplegia with inability to grasp the hand, inability to extend the arm as if drawing a bow, paralysis of both arms making it impossible to raise them to comb hair; it also treats laryngismus (obstruction of the throat) with dyspnea approaching death, unremitting fever, generalized wind-xeroderma and leprosy-like skin lesions; after needling, the illness is cured immediately.
[Note] Quchi (LI11) is located in the depression at the end of the radial collateral process of the humerus when the elbow is flexed, found by arching the hands toward the chest. Its indications include pain in the elbow, hemiplegia due to wind-stroke, arm pain preventing extension for drawing a bow, paralysis of both arms preventing raising hands to comb hair, laryngismus with dyspnea approaching death, chills from Cold Damage, lingering residual heat, dry skin, and scabies/crusts. Insert 0.7 cun, retain for seven respiratory cycles, moxibustion three cones.
Hegu (LI4, "Joining Valley") is located in the tiger's mouth, in the depression between the divergent bones of the first and second metacarpals. It treats headache accompanied by facial swelling, malaria with alternating chills and fever, body heat with non-stop sweating, dim vision and blurred sight, dental caries pain and epistaxis (nosebleed), lockjaw with inability to speak; inserting the needle 0.3 cun deep can bring peace to the disease.
[Note] Hegu (LI4) is located in the depression between the divergent bones of the thumb and index finger. Its indications include unilateral or bilateral headache, edema of face and eyes, malaria with chills and fever, body heat with profuse sweating, visual obscurity due to corneal opacity, decay and rotting pain of teeth, continuous epistaxis, and lockjaw with inability to open the mouth.
