Xiao Banxia Tang plus Baibamimi (Minor Pinellia Decoction plus White Glutinous Rice)
Ye Tianshi said: The Chong Mai (Penetrating Vessel) belongs to Yangming. When Yangming is deficient, closure fails, and Jue Qi (Reversal Qi) rises uncontrollably. *Neijing* states: If treating the Liver is ineffective, treat Yangming to restrain its encroachment. Temporarily use unblocking and tonifying methods entering the Fu organs, utilizing the principle that "unblocking is tonification" for Fu organs.
Ye Tianshi Paste Prescription
Case record: I once treated Mr. Gu for internal Wind stirring violently due to voids in the Yin collaterals, causing Jue. I used salty substances entering Yin to harmonize Yang, and heavy/shell substances to anchor, achieving slight effect. However, the root of the disease is deep below; decoctions are light and floating, unable to fill the voids. Changing decoction to paste allows heavier medicinal power to fill and solidify. This is another method to stop Jue.
Xianbiejia (Fresh Trionycis Carapax), Guiban (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum), Zhujingsui (Porcine Medulla Spinalis), Yangjingsui (Ovis/Medis Medulla Spinalis), Shengdi (Rehmanniae Radix), Tiandong (Ophiopogonis Radix), Ejiao (Donkey-hide Gelatin), Dancai (Mytilus Edulis), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex). Simmer into paste. Take 7 qian in the morning, 4 qian at noon.
Wumei Wan (Mume Pill) (Formula seen in *Shanghan Lun*)
Comprehensively treats various Jueyin syndromes, alternating cold and heat, and long-standing diarrhea due to ascariasis Jue.
Ke Yunbo said: Among the Six Meridians, Jueyin is the most difficult to treat. Its root is Yin, its branch is Heat; its nature is Wind-Wood, its function is Ministerial Fire. *Neijing* says: "One must subdue what dominates, and first address the cause." Whether gathering or dispersing, opposing or following, act according to what is beneficial, regulate the Middle Qi, and bring it to peace. This is the method for treating Jueyin. Zhang Zhongjing's formulas generally use Acrid-Sweet and Sweet-Cool as sovereign drugs, avoiding Sour-Astringent agents. However, this formula uses them because Jueyin governs the Liver. *Hongfan* says: "Wood is flexible and straight; flexibility and straightness produce Sour." *Neijing* says: "Wood governs Sour; Sour enters the Liver." Using Wumei (Mume Fructus) as the sovereign drug for its great Sourness subdues what dominates. Paired with Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) to drain Heart Fire and remove stuffiness, assisted by Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex) to nourish Kidney Yin and relieve thirst, addressing the cause first. The Kidney is the Mother of the Liver; using Huajiao (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium) and Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata) to warm the Kidney allows Fire to have a return path, nourishing the Liver, thus consolidating the root. The Liver desires dispersion; using Xixin (Asari Radix) and Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma) for their Acrid dispersion fulfills its desire. The Liver stores Blood; using Guizhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus) and Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) for their Warmth and Moisture guides them back to their meridian. Because Cold and Hot are mixed, flavors and Qi do not harmonize, so Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) is added to regulate Middle Qi. Soaking Wumei in Kujiu (Bitter Vinegar) follows the principle of "same Qi seeking each other." Steaming under rice provides Grain Qi. Adding Honey harmonizes. Give small amounts and gradually increase, treating the root slowly. Zhang Zhongjing's formula was originally the method for Jueyin syndromes. Sun Simiao compiled it under the条目 of vomiting roundworms, making people unaware of the primary formula for Jueyin. Observing its medication matches various syndromes; how could it be limited to just vomiting roundworms?
