Yang Qi descends from the right, reaching the lower part to transform into turbid Yin. Yin Qi ascends from the left, reaching the upper part to transform into clear Yang. Yang is rooted in Yin, and Yin is rooted in Yang; this is the mutual rooting of Yin and Yang.
However, the authority governing their ascent and descent lies primarily in the Spleen and Stomach. On one hand, if Spleen Qi fails to ascend, essence and blood will scatter, leading to Yin Collapse (a critical syndrome of Yin fluid exhaustion). The *Classic* states: "Those with Yin Collapse go blind," which refers to this condition. On the other hand, if Stomach Qi fails to descend, Spirit Qi will fly upward, leading to Yang Collapse (a critical syndrome of Yang Qi loss). The *Classic* states: "Those with Yang Collapse see ghosts," which refers to this condition. In cases of Yin Collapse, Wu Gan Tang (Black Liver Decoction) is used as the primary treatment. In cases of Yang Collapse, Tu Sui Tang (Rabbit Marrow Decoction) is used as the primary treatment. In cases of deficiency diseases where Yuan Yang (Original Yang) is about to collapse, Shen Fu Tang (Ginseng and Aconite Decoction) is used as the primary treatment. In cases where Shaoyin (Lesser Yin) Qi is reversed and pulse Qi does not arrive, Di Huang Yin Zi (Rehmannia Drink) is used as the primary treatment.

Yin Deficiency leads to Night Sweats. Night sweats refer to frequent fever, sweating during sleep, and cessation of sweating upon waking. Yang Deficiency leads to Spontaneous Sweating. Spontaneous sweating refers to frequent aversion to cold, with sweating occurring both during movement and at rest. However, since Yin and Yang are mutually rooted, one must not be rigid. Night sweats can also belong to Yang Deficiency, and spontaneous sweating can also belong to Yin Deficiency. If sweating is accompanied by severe panting, faint pulse, body pain, sweat moistening the hair up to the vertex, sweat like oil, or sweat like pearls, these six conditions are all untreatable. If sweating belongs to Yin Deficiency, Ye's Formula is used as the primary treatment. If sweating belongs to Yang Deficiency, Shen Fu Tang (Ginseng and Aconite Decoction) is used as the primary treatment. If both Yin and Yang are deficient, Shao Yao Gan Cao Fu Zi Tang (Peony, Licorice, and Aconite Decoction) is used as the primary treatment. If Kidney Water floats upward and sweating continues incessantly, it is called Yang Collapse (Loss of Yang), and Zhen Wu Tang (True Warrior Decoction) is used as the primary treatment.
