[Upper Compilation External Treatment Methods - Limbs]
[1] The tibia refers to the bone of the lower leg located between the knee and the ankle, commonly known as the shinbone.
[2] There are two bones in the lower leg:
<1> The one located anteriorly is named Chenggu (Cheng Bone), also called Gan Gu (Long Bone), which is relatively thick in shape.
<2> The one located posteriorly is named Fugu (Auxiliary Bone), which is thinner in shape, and is commonly known as Laotang Bone.
[3] If injured by a fall or blow, causing the sharp end of the bone to protrude obliquely outward, with broken skin and unceasing bleeding, and the patient groaning softly due to pain while having reduced food intake, if the person is constitutionally deficient in Qi and Blood, it will inevitably lead to a critical condition or death.
[4] Manual therapy should be employed to massage the tendons and correct the bone alignment, restoring them to their proper position. Apply Wanling Ointment, wrap with a bamboo mat, and then bind with white cloth. First administer Zhenggu Zijin Dan (Bone-Setting Purple Gold Pill), followed by Jianbu Huqian Wan (Walking Tiger Hidden Dragon Pill).
Note on Formulas: [1] Wanling Ointment: See section on Fontanelle Injury.
[2] Zhenggu Zijin Dan: See section on Vertex Bone Injury.
[3] Jianbu Huqian Wan: See section on Hip Bone Injury.
[Upper Compilation External Treatment Methods - Classic Theory]
The *Ling Shu Jing* (Spiritual Pivot), Chapter "Pathogenic Factors, Zang-Fu Organs, and Disease Manifestations" states: "If one falls from a height, evil blood remains inside; if accompanied by great anger, Qi ascends instead of descending, accumulating under the hypochondrium, thereby injuring the Liver."
Note on Formulas: None.
Annotation: [1] When a person suffers a fall, blood already stagnates within. If further aggravated by great anger that injures the Liver, causing Qi to ascend without descending, the stagnant blood and rebellious Qi coagulate together, accumulating under the hypochondrium, thus damaging the Liver.
[2] The treatment method should first guide the dispersal of angry Qi to prevent accumulation in the Liver, so the Liver can remain uninjured. Then, administer diuretic or resolving medicines to break up the evil blood, ensuring no residual blood remains under the hypochondrium.
[Upper Compilation External Treatment Methods - Explanation of Manual Techniques]
[1] The technique of "lifting" (Ti) refers to elevating depressed bones back to their original position. This method varies:
<1> Using both hands to lift directly.
<2> Using ropes tied to a high point for traction lifting.
<3> Using supportive devices after lifting to prevent re-depression.
[2] One must assess the severity and depth of the injury before applying treatment. If a severe injury is treated with light lifting, the disease cannot be cured; if a mild injury is treated with heavy lifting, although the old injury may be resolved, new injuries will be added.
