Clause: Blinding wind and guest heat cause eyelid swelling and pain, excessive tearing with itching, redness, and swelling of the Baijing (sclera). This originates from lung heat attracting wind pathogen obstruction; Juhua Tongsheng San can achieve success.
Formula: Juhua Tongsheng San (See formula composition under "Eyelids Sticking Together" clause)
[Note] [1] Blinding wind and guest heat manifest as eyelid swelling and pain, excessive tearing, itching, redness, and bulging of the sclera.
[2] This condition originates from lung receiving pathogenic heat and external wind pathogen invasion.
[3] Initially, fumigation and washing should be used, followed by Juhua Tongsheng San to clear pathogenic heat internally and disperse wind pathogen externally.
%
Clause: Membranes entering the Shuilun (pupil/lens area) occur after eye sores heal; the scar remains, gradually forming a membrane that invades the Shuilun. This is caused by deficiency-heat in the lung and liver combined with dryness in the large intestine. If untreated later, it damages the Tongshen (pupil/vision).
Use Tuire Yinzi, containing Dahuang, Chongweizi, Heishen, Xixin, Fangfeng, Wuweizi, Jiegeng, Huangqin.
Formula: Tuire Yinzi
Dahuang 1 qian, Chongweizi 2 qian, Heishen 1 qian, Xixin 1 qian, Fangfeng 2 qian, Wuweizi 5 fen,
Jiegeng 2 qian, Huangqin 2 qian.
Grind into coarse powder, decoct with two cups of water until one cup remains, strain and take warm after meals.
[Note] [1] Membranes entering the Shuilun arise from sores on the black and white parts of the eye. After healing, the scar does not disappear, gradually forming a membrane invading the Shuilun. This is caused by accumulated heat in the liver channel, dryness and stagnation in the large intestine, and upward reversal of pathogenic heat.
[2] Tuire Yinzi should be used to clear and descend the heat.

Clause: Wind-induced tearing initially worsens in winter; if chronic, it occurs in both winter and summer with blurred vision. Liver deficiency causes cold tears without pain or redness; liver excess causes hot tears with swelling, redness, and pain.
For deficiency, use Bulgan San, containing Danggui, Baishao, Jili, Chuanxiong, Shudihuang, Mozey, Fangfeng. For excess, use Chuanxiong Chatiao San, containing Jingjie, Bohe, Gancao, Mozey, Fangfeng, Qianghuo, Shijueming, Juhua, Shigao, Chuanxiong.
Formula: Zhilei Bulgan San Formula
Danggui 2 qian, Baishao (stir-fried) 1 qian, Jili 1 qian, Chuanxiong 5 fen, Shudihuang 2 qian, Mozey
1 qian, Fangfeng 1 qian.
Grind into coarse powder, decoct with two cups of water until one cup remains, take warm after meals (well after eating), strain.
Chuanxiong Chatiao San Formula
Jingjie, Bohe, Gancao (honey-fried), Mozey, Fangfeng, Qianghuo, Shijueming (calcined), Juhua, Shigao, Chuanxiong each 1 liang.
Grind into fine powder and mix evenly. Take 3 qian per dose, mixed with tea water after meals.
[Note] [1] The syndrome of tearing upon exposure to wind manifests as tearing when exposed to wind. It initially worsens in winter and improves in summer; if chronic, it persists in both seasons. This is caused by deficiency-wind and heat pathogens affecting the liver storage.
[2] If tears are cold, non-red, and non-painful, it is deficiency; use Bulgan Tang. If tears are hot, swollen, red, and painful, it is excess; use Chuanxiong Chatiao San.
