[Formula Song] Phlegm-bao (Phlegm-packet) usually arises under the tongue, forming a swelling that is soft and cotton-like in texture, resembling a calabash. Pain and distension occur under the tongue, obstructing eating and speaking; this is formed by the accumulation of fire and the flow of phlegm-saliva.
[Note] This condition arises under the tongue, presenting as a swelling like a calabash, smooth and soft like cotton, causing blockage and distension under the tongue, interfering with diet and speech. The color is yellow with a numb pain sensation. It is caused by the accumulation of fire and the flow of phlegm-saliva. It is appropriate to use scissors to incise the lesion ("Dangbao" referring to the affected area), draining phlegm-saliva resembling egg white, which is thick and viscous. After wiping clean, apply Bingpeng San externally, and internally administer Jiawei Erchen Tang. Avoid fried foods and strong liquor.

[Formula Song] She-nü (Tongue bleeding) results from Heart Fire inflaming the Blood level; holes appear on the tongue like iron tips, or as large as chopstick heads, with a purple color. In severe cases, they turn black and rot, with blood gushing out like a spring.
[Note] This condition manifests as sudden holes appearing on the tongue, small ones like needle tips, large ones like chopstick heads. A purple color in the hole indicates severe heat; a black color indicates corruption and rotting, with blood gushing like a spring. This is caused by Heart Fire flaming upward, leading to reckless movement of blood due to blood-heat. It is appropriate to take Shengma Tang and simultaneously apply Bisheng San externally for excellent effect.
