正白下之，以脂面，令耐寒白悦光明，致神女下。
《范汪方》治面无色，令人曼泽肥白方∶

《灵奇方》云∶练质术∶

以苦酒渍三日，牛髓一斤，煎黄色，绞去滓，以装面，令白悦，去黑子。（今按∶《范汪
方》云∶黑丑人，更鲜好也。）
《僧深方》治面令白方∶
白瓜子（五两，一方五分） 杨白皮（三两，一方三分） 桃花（四两，一方四分）
上三物，下筛，服方寸匕，食已，日三，欲白加瓜子；欲赤加桃花。服药十日，面白；
五十日，手足举体鲜洁也。
《千金方》治虚羸（伦为反）瘦病，令人肥白方∶
白蜜（二升） 猪肪（一升） 胡麻油（半升） 干地黄（一升）
四味，合煎之可丸，酒服如梧子日三丸，日三。
悦泽颜色方∶
酒渍桃花，服之好颜色，除百病，三月三日收。
又方∶白蜜和白茯苓涂，七日愈。
又方∶美酒渍鸡子三枚，密封四七日成，涂面净好无比。
《葛氏方》治人面体黎黑，肤色粗陋，面血浊皮浓。容状丑恶方∶
末 米，酒和涂面浓粉上，勿令见风，三日即白。（今按∶《范汪方》云∶捣筛，食后服
方寸匕。）
又方∶白松脂十分，干地黄九分，干漆五分，附子一分，桂心二分。捣末，密和，如梧
子，未食服十枚，日三，诸虫悉出，渐举肥白。
《隋炀帝后宫诸香药方》记载：令身体和面部都白皙的方子：

悦面术：杏仁一升，胡麻（芝麻）去皮后捣成粉末五升，混合制成膏状，煎煮，滤去渣滓，加入半升麻仁再煎。制成如大弹丸大小的药丸，色正白为度，配合油脂敷面，能使皮肤耐寒、白皙、光泽悦目，仿佛神女降临。
《范汪方》治疗面色无华，使人肌肤润泽肥白的方子：
紫菀（三分，另一版本为五分） 白术（五分） 细辛（五分）
共三味药，研成散剂，用酒送服一方寸匕的量，十个月见效。
令人面目肥白方：
干麦门冬（一升，去心） 杏仁（八百枚，去皮生用）
共两味药，制成丸剂，饭前服用，每次用酒送服相当于两枚杏仁大小的丸药，每天三次，十天见效。
令人妩媚白好方：
蜂子（三升），妇人乳汁（三升）
将这两味药放入竹筒中，煮熟后混合，埋在阴凉墙根下，二十天后取出，用来敷面，一百天后皮肤就会像素绢一样洁白。
又记载：令人洁白的方子：

共五味药，研细过筛，用蜂蜜调和，制成梧桐子大小的丸药，用酒送服五丸，每天三次，三十天见效，一百天后皮肤变白。
令人面部及全身都洁白的方子：
七月七日采集乌鸡血涂抹面部即可变白，反复涂抹多次。这是宫廷御用方，全身都可以涂抹。
令人容貌美好，年老保持年轻神态的方子：
天门冬（二分） 小麦种（一分） 车前子（一分） 瓜瓣（二分） 白石脂（一分） 细辛（一分）
共六味药，分别研磨过筛，等待天气晴朗无云时混合搅拌，每次取三指撮的药量，饭后服用，不要间断。十天身体轻盈，三十天皱纹舒展，一百天白发变黑，落齿再生，老人恢复强壮，年轻人不会衰老。东海小童服用此方后传给卢王夫人，她三百岁高龄，依然像少女一样美丽，十分神秘。
《灵奇方》记载：练质术：
乌贼鱼骨 细辛 栝蒌 干姜 蜀椒 （等分）
用醋浸泡三天，加入一斤牛髓，煎至黄色，绞去渣滓，用来敷面，使皮肤白皙悦目，去除黑斑。（按语：《范汪方》说：肤色黝黑的人使用，会变得更加鲜亮美好。）
《僧深方》治疗面部使其变白的方子：
白瓜子（五两，另一版本为五分） 杨白皮（三两，另一版本为三分） 桃花（四两，另一版本为四分）
以上三味药，研细过筛，服用一方寸匕的量，饭后服用，每天三次，想要更白就增加瓜子用量；想要红润就增加桃花用量。服药十天，面色变白；五十天，手足全身肌肤鲜洁。
《千金方》治疗虚损消瘦病，使人肥白的方子：
白蜜（二升） 猪脂肪（一升） 胡麻油（半升） 干地黄（一升）
这四味药，合煎制成丸剂，用酒送服，每次如梧桐子大小，每天三次。
悦泽颜色方：
用酒浸泡桃花，服用它能使容颜美好，祛除百病，需在三月三日采收。
又一方：用美酒浸泡鸡蛋三枚，密封四十一天制成，涂抹面部，洁净美好无与伦比。
《葛氏方》治疗人脸体色黎黑，肤色粗糙，面部血液浑浊皮肤厚腻，容貌丑陋的方子：
米粉，用酒调和涂在浓粉之上，不要让风吹到，三天后变白。（按语：《范汪方》说：捣碎过筛，饭后服用一方寸匕。）
又一方：白松脂十分，干地黄九分，干漆五分，附子一分，桂心二分。捣成粉末，紧密调和，制成梧桐子大小的丸药，饭前服用十枚，每天三次，各种寄生虫都会排出，逐渐变得肥白。
The *Xiangyao Fang of the Back Palace of Emperor Yang of Sui* states: A prescription for making the body and face fair:
Citrus reticulata Pericarpium (Chenpi, dried tangerine peel) (3 fen), Cucumis melo Semen Album (Baiguazi, white melon seeds), Prunus persica Flos (Taohua, peach blossoms).
These three substances are pounded, sifted, and taken after meals with wine, one fangcun bi (a measure equivalent to a square inch spoonful) per dose, three times daily. Effect is seen in thirty days.
The *Ruyi Fang* states: The art of obtaining a beautiful complexion and slender waist:
Take peach blossoms from three trees, dry them in the shade, and sift them finely. Take before meals, three times daily, one fangcun bi per dose. (Note: The *Seng Shen Fang* advises taking it with wine.)
A facial beautification method:
Prunus armeniaca Semen (Xingren, apricot seeds) one sheng, Sesamum indicum (Huma, sesame) peeled and pounded into powder five sheng. Mix and make into an ointment, decoct, strain off the dregs, add half a sheng of Sesamum indicum Semen (Maziren, sesame seeds) and decoct again. Form into pills the size of large marbles, pure white in color. Apply with animal fat to the face; this makes the skin resistant to cold, fair, lustrous, and radiant, as if descended by goddesses.
The *Fan Wang Fang* treats lackluster complexion, making the person plump and fair:
Astera tatarica Radix (Ziwan, tartar aster root) (3 fen, another version says 5 fen), Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Baizhu, macrocephala atractylodes rhizome) (5 fen), Asari Radix et Rhizoma (Xixin, asarum root and rhizome) (5 fen).
These three substances are made into a powder, taken with wine, one fangcun bi per dose. Effect is seen in ten months.
A prescription for making the face and eyes plump and fair:
Ophiopogon japonicus Tuber (Gan Maidong, dried Ophiopogon tuber) (one sheng, heart removed), Prunus armeniaca Semen (Xingren, apricot seeds) (800 pieces, peeled and used raw).
These two substances are made into pills. Take before meals, with wine, the amount equivalent to two apricot seed-sized pills, three times daily. Effect is seen in ten days.
A prescription for making one charming, fair, and beautiful:
Apis Mellifera Larva (Fengzi, bee larvae) (three sheng), Humanis Lac Mulieris (Funren Ruji, woman's milk).
Place these two substances in a bamboo tube, cook thoroughly, mix, and bury under a shady wall. After twenty days, take out and apply to the face. In one hundred days, the skin will be as white as unbleached silk.
It also states: A prescription for making one fair-skinned:
Cucumis melo Semen Album (Guaban, white melon seeds) (4 fen), Prunus persica Flos (Taohua, peach blossoms) (4 fen), Citrus reticulata Pericarpium (Chenpi, dried tangerine peel) (1 fen), Angelicae Dahuricae Radix (Baizhi, dahuria angelica root), Panicum miliaceum (Nimi, proso millet) (2 fen).
These five substances are sifted finely, mixed with honey to form pills the size of Chinese quince seeds. Take five pills with wine, three times daily. Effect is seen in thirty days; in one hundred days, the skin becomes white.
A prescription for making the face and entire body completely fair:
On the seventh day of the seventh lunar month, take blood from a black chicken and apply it to the face; it will become white immediately. Repeat application several times. This is an imperial palace prescription; it can be applied to the entire body.
A prescription for making one exquisite and beautiful, retaining a youthful appearance in old age:
Asparagi Radix (Tianmendong, asparagus root) (2 fen), Tritici aestivi semen (Xiaomai zhong, wheat seeds), Plantaginis Semen (Cheqianzi, plantago seeds) (1 fen), Cucumis melo Semen Album (Guaban, white melon seeds) (2 fen), Kaolinitum (Baishizhi, kaolin) (1 fen), Asari Radix et Rhizoma (Xixin, asarum root and rhizome) (1 fen).
These six substances are separately ground and sifted. When the weather is clear and cloudless, mix and stir well. Take an amount held between three fingers after meals, do not stop. In ten days, the body feels light; in thirty days, wrinkles smooth out; in one hundred days, white hair turns black, lost teeth regrow, the elderly regain strength, and the young do not age. A youth from the East Sea passed this on to Lady Lu Wang; she was three hundred years old yet always looked like a young girl. It is mysterious.
The *Lingqi Fang* states: The art of refining the constitution:
Sepiae Endoconcha (Wuzheyu gu, cuttlefish bone), Asari Radix et Rhizoma (Xixin, asarum root and rhizome), Trichosanthis Fructus (Gualou, trichosanthes fruit), Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Shengjiang, fresh ginger - note: text says Gan Jiang, dried ginger), Zanthoxyli Fructus (Shujiao, Sichuan pepper) (equal parts).
Soak in vinegar for three days. Add one jin (500g) of Bos taurus Medulla (Niuisui, ox marrow), decoct until yellow, strain off the dregs, and use to apply to the face, making it fair and lustrous, removing dark spots. (Note: The *Fan Wang Fang* says: For people with dark complexions, it makes them fresher and better.)
The *Seng Shen Fang* treats the face to make it white:
Cucumis melo Semen Album (Baiguazi, white melon seeds) (5 liang, another version says 5 fen), Populus alba Cortex (Yang Baipi, white poplar bark), Prunus persica Flos (Taohua, peach blossoms) (4 liang, another version says 4 fen).
These three substances are sifted finely. Take one fangcun bi, after meals, three times daily. To increase whiteness, add more melon seeds; to increase redness/rosiness, add more peach blossoms. After ten days of taking the medicine, the face becomes white; after fifty days, the hands, feet, and whole body become fresh and clean.
The *Qianjin Fang* treats deficiency emaciation (Lun fan), making one plump and fair:
Mel (Baimi, white honey) (2 sheng), Porcine Adipose Tissue (Zhufang, pig fat), Sesamum indicum Oleum (Huma You, sesame oil), Rehmanniae Radix Preparata (Gan Dihuang, prepared rehmannia root).
These four ingredients are combined and decocted to make pills. Take with wine, the size of Chinese quince seeds, three pills, three times daily.
A prescription for beautifying the complexion:
Soak peach blossoms in wine and take them. This improves the complexion and removes all diseases. Harvest on the third day of the third lunar month.
Another prescription: Mix white honey with Poria Cocos (Baifuling, poria sclerotium) powder and apply. Heals in seven days.
Another prescription: Soak three eggs in fine wine, seal tightly for forty-one days. Apply to the face; it becomes exceptionally clean and beautiful.
The *Ge Shi Fang* treats people with dark faces and bodies, rough skin texture, turbid facial blood, and thick skin, resulting in an ugly appearance:
Oriza sativa Farina (Mi, rice flour), mix with wine and apply thickly over face powder. Do not let it be exposed to wind. It becomes white in three days. (Note: The *Fan Wang Fang* says: Pound and sift, take one fangcun bi after meals.)
Another prescription: Pinus Massoniana Resin (Baisongzhi, masson pine resin) 10 parts, Rehmanniae Radix Preparata (Gan Dihuang, prepared rehmannia root) 9 parts, Xanthii Fructus Processed (Gan Qi, processed xanthium fruit) 5 parts, Aconiti Lateralis Radix Preparata (Fuzi, prepared lateral root of aconite) 1 part, Cinnamomi Ramulus (Guixin, cinnamon twig) 2 parts. Pound into powder, mix tightly, form into pills the size of Chinese quince seeds. Take ten pills before meals, three times daily. All parasites will be expelled, and gradually the body becomes plump and fair.
