(Li Dongyuan)
Treats Benglou (metrorrhagia and metrostaxis) accompanied by fever, spontaneous sweating, shortness of breath, fatigue, and anorexia (these symptoms are caused by labor injury).
Use Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) (see Qi Gate), adding Baishao (Radix Paeoniae Alba) and Heizhizi (Fructus Gardeniae Praeparatus cum Cinere). Add three slices of Shengjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens) and three dates (Zao), decoct and take.
This is a formula for the Foot-Taiyin Spleen and Foot-Yangming Stomach meridians. Buzhong Yiqi Tang tonifies middle Qi, raises Yang, reduces fever, and stops sweating; adding Shaoyao (Radix Paeoniae) harmonizes blood and astringes Yin; Heizhizi clears heat and stops bleeding.
Furthermore, Li Dongyuan's Shengyang Jujing Tang (Raise Yang and Lift Menstruation Decoction) from *Lanshi Micang* (Secrets of the Blue Room): Huangqi (Radix Astragali), Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), Baizhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae) (each 3 qian); Qianghuo (Rhizoma et Radix Notopterygii), Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae), Bencao (Radix Ligustici Chuanxiong) (each 2 qian); Duhuo (Radix Angelicae Pubescentis), Fuzi (Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata with honey) (each 1.5 qian); Renshen (Radix Ginseng), Shudihuang (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata), Chuanxiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong) (each 1 qian); Xixin (Herba Asari); Taoren (Semen Persicae) (10 seeds, remove skin and tips, crush); Honghua (Flos Carthami); Rougui (Cortex Cinnamomi) (do not use in midsummer); Shaoyao (Radix Paeoniae) (each 0.5 qian). Take 3 qian per dose, gradually increasing to 5 qian.
Treats persistent menstrual bleeding (The original text states: If the Right Chi pulse is empty upon pressing, this indicates depletion of both Qi and Blood, a syndrome of severe Cold; if the pulse is rapid and hurried on light pressure, or wiry, tight, or choppy on heavy pressure, these are all signs of Yang collapse, with Yin Fire also exhausted, manifesting as heat sensations in the mouth, nose, and eyes, or thirst. These indicate Yin restlessness with Yang about to perish first; one should treat with warming, lifting, raising, and drying methods, greatly elevating the floating Qi).
Treats uncontrollable Benglou (Metrorrhagia and Metrostaxis) (Any non-menstrual bleeding that drips continuously is called Louxia [leaking down]; sudden massive bleeding, like a mountain collapse, is called Bengzhong [central collapse].)
Zonglv (Cortex Trachycarpi Carbonized), Wumei (Fructus Mume) (1 liang), Heijiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Praeparatum) (1.5 liang). Grind into powder. Take 2 qian per dose, washed down with Wumei Tang (Mume Decoction).
This is a formula for the Foot-Jueyin Liver meridian. The astringent property stops bleeding, hence Zonglv is used; the sour property converges, hence Wumei is used; the warm property maintains the Middle Jiao, hence Ganjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis) is used; the black color stops bleeding (as Water overcomes Fire), hence they are used together.
(From *Liangfang*)
Treats Xuexia (Blood Mass) (Xia refers to masses formed by congealed blood, lying hidden in obscure places, knotted and firmly fixed, difficult to resolve without attacking/draining methods.)
Danpi (Cortex Moutan), Guixin (Cortex Cinnamomi), Guiwei (Radix Angelicae Sinensis caulis), Yanhusuo (Rhizoma Corydalis), Niuxi (Radix Achyranthis Bidentata), Chishaoyao (Radix Paeoniae Rubra), Ezhu (Rhizoma Curcumae Zedoariae) (6 fen), Sanleng (Rhizoma Sparganii) (4 fen).
Decoct with half water and half wine.
This is a formula for the Foot-Jueyin Liver meridian. Guixin, Danpi, Chishaoyao, and Niuxi move blood; Sanleng, Ezhu, Guiwei, and Yanhusuo move Qi stagnation within blood and Blood stagnation within Qi, allowing Qi and Blood to circulate freely, thereby dispersing the accumulation.
