(From *San Yin Ji Yi Bing Zheng Fang Lun*)
Treats abdominal pain caused by worm bites, where the pain occurs and ceases at specific times. The term "geng qi lai wang" (referring to intermittent abdominal pain: pain arises when worms bite and ceases when they do not; reflecting the movement of Qi) is addressed with Dahuang (Stir-fried, 1.5 liang), Leshe (Stir-fried), Binglang, Hezi Pi, Wuyi (Stir-fried), Muxiang, Ganjiang (Stir-fried), and Fuzi (7 qian).
This prescription targets the Foot Yangming channel. Worms favor warmth, dislike sourness, and fear bitterness. Therefore, the heat of Ganjiang and Fuzi is used to warm them; the sourness of Wu Mei and Hezi Pi is used to subdue them; the bitterness of Dahuang, Binglang, Wuyi, and Leshe is used to kill them; and the acrid-warm nature of Muxiang is used to regulate Qi.
Treats abdominal and stomach pain characterized by dry pain occurring intermittently. "Dry pain" refers to pain without vomiting or diarrhea; "intermittent" means pain occurs when hungry after eating light food, but does not occur when full after eating rich food. This indicates a parasitic condition. Xionghuang, Binglang, and Baifan are mixed in equal proportions. Formed into pills using rice paste. Take 5 fen per dose, administered well after meals.
This prescription targets the Hand and Foot Yangming channels. The acrid toxicity of Xionghuang, the bitter descending nature of Binglang, and the astringent sourness of Baifan are all substances that kill parasites; thus, they are combined to treat this condition.
Treats various gastrointestinal parasitic infestations. (The stomach accommodates all manner of substances, which can give rise to parasites due to deficiency and decline of righteous Qi, ingestion of items containing parasite eggs, or steaming and stagnation of damp-heat. This follows the principle that an object must first rot before worms can grow within it.) Leshe, Hufen (Stir-fried), Kuligen (East-growing, ungerminated roots), Binglang (1 liang), Wuyi, Shijunzi (5 qian), and Kufan (2 liang) are used.
This prescription targets the Hand and Foot Yangming channels. These drugs are all agents for killing parasites. They can be effective even when used singly; however, gathering similar agents into a pill form ensures that parasites will inevitably die. (Wu Hegao stated: Ancient formulas for killing parasites commonly used substances such as Leiwuan, Guanzhong, Ganqi, Lafan, Baibu, and Qianhui. Some formulas add Fuzi and Ganjiang to strengthen righteous Qi; add Kushen and Huanglian because parasites are subdued by bitterness; add Wu Mei and Hezi because parasites are softened by sourness; add Lili and Gouti to expel parasites via vomiting; add Yuanhua and Heichou to expel parasites via purgation; use Xionghuang, Chuanjiao, Shechuangzi, Zhangnao, Shuiyin, and Binglang to treat parasites causing sores and scabies; use Hutonglei, Langdangzi, Jiuizi, and Chansu to treat parasites causing dental caries; use Chuanjinpi and Haitongpi to treat parasites causing wind-xuan; use Qingxiangzi and Fupenyè to treat parasites eroding the nine orifices; use Baiguxin, Taofuban, Hufen gu, Siren zhen, Tazhao, and Hegu to drive out parasites causing consumption/labor disease.)
