Method 24: On both sides of the spine directly opposite the umbilicus, at a distance of 1.5 cun from the midline, is the Shenshu (Kidney-Shu, BL23) acupoint. It primarily treats wind-deficiency syndromes of the Kidney region; moxibustion of one hundred units (zhuang) is applied to each side.
Method for treating involuntary seminal emission with urination:
Apply moxibustion of thirty units to both sides of the seventh thoracic vertebra.
Additionally, apply moxibustion of thirty units to both sides of the tenth thoracic vertebra.
Additionally, apply moxibustion to Yanglingquan (GB34) and Yinlingquan (SP9), with the number of units determined by the patient's age (sui nian zhuang).
Apply moxibustion of thirty units to both sides of the nineteenth thoracic vertebra.
For men or women who experience seminal emission during sexual dreams, or those prone to dreaming with emission, apply moxibustion of five units to Sanyinjiao (SP6); this method is highly effective.
For men experiencing seminal emission in dreams, turbid and difficult urination, apply moxibustion of one hundred units to Shenshu (BL23).
For men suffering from pain in the genitalia, hematuria, and seminal emission, apply moxibustion of fifty units to Lieque (LU7). For seminal emission accompanied by exhaustion of the Five Zang organs, apply moxibustion of fifty units to the end of the flexing bone (Qu Gu Duan), which is located in the center of the transverse bone above the penis, curved like an inverted moon; this point is also known as Henggu (KI12).
For men with seminal emission, retraction of the genitalia, and pain in the shaft of the penis, apply moxibustion of thirty units to Dahe (KI12), located three cun lateral to the end of the flexing bone.
For men with cold pain in the lower back and spine, and white turbid urine, apply moxibustion of one hundred units to the Mu-Alarm point of the Spleen (Pishu, SP18).
For men with seminal emission, cold and painful knees and shins, apply moxibustion of one hundred units to Ququan (LR8).
For men with seminal emission and retraction of the genitalia, apply moxibustion of fifty units to Zhongfeng (LR4).
The twenty-second thoracic vertebra primarily treats stiffness and immobility of the waist and back, spasmodic contraction and bi-syndrome of tendons and vessels, and obstruction due to deficient heat. Apply moxibustion according to the patient's age, on both sides 1.5 cun from the midline.
Xiaochangshu (BL27) primarily treats difficulty in urination, fullness and distension in the lower abdomen with deficiency and fatigue. Apply moxibustion according to the patient's age.
For cold pain in the bone marrow, apply moxibustion of seventy units to Shanglian (ST37), located three cun below Zusanli (ST36).
Method for treating lumbar pain:
For sudden acute lumbar pain, locate the point one cun above the coccyx (Changqiang, GV1) and apply seven units of moxibustion.
Shenshu (BL23) primarily treats deficiency and labor of the Five Zang organs, and tightness, urgency, distension, and heat in the lower abdomen. Apply fifty units of moxibustion, suitable for damage in the elderly and children. If the condition is deficient and cold, up to one hundred units may be applied, spaced transversely by three finger-widths. For patients unable to move due to lumbar pain, have the patient stand upright, use a bamboo staff to measure from the ground to the umbilicus, and then transfer this measurement to the dorsal spine. Apply moxibustion at the point indicated by the head of the staff, with the number of units determined by the patient's age; this is effective. After moxibustion, store the bamboo staff and do not let others obtain it. This treatment applies to men with hemorrhoidal bleeding, rectal prolapse, anorexia, and chronic diarrhea/dysentery, and to women with metrorrhagia, leukorrhea with dripping discharge, and mixed red and white vaginal discharges. Moxibustion should be applied to points located one cun lateral to the spine on both sides, spaced transversely by three finger-widths. For lumbar pain, apply ten units of moxibustion to the junction of white skin in the oblique crease above the heel.
Additionally, apply ten units of moxibustion to Juyang (a supplementary name for Xiaohai/SI8 or related posterior ankle points depending on context, here specified as below lateral malleolus).
Additionally, apply moxibustion to Yaomu (Waist Eye), located at the left and right sides of the transverse crease above the sacrum.
Additionally, apply moxibustion to the Baliao (Eight Liao) points and the middle of the transverse crease above the lateral malleolus.
