Heat ashes in a large vessel until warm, place them in a cloth bag, and gently apply it to the patient's heart region. Replace immediately when it cools. Once warmth returns to the heart, breathing becomes smooth, eyes can move, and the mouth opens, administer warm urine or thin gruel for the patient to swallow slowly, which will restore life. If one does not first warm the heart but instead uses fire to roast the body, cold qi will contend with fire heat, leading to immediate death.
Stimulate the patient's ear canal and nasal cavity with green onion stalks. Do not be alarmed if blood flows out; if no blood flows, the condition is difficult to treat. The presence of blood indicates that vitality remains. When the patient is about to revive, hold both hands firmly without releasing them. After a moment, the deceased's eyes will open, and their hands will make grasping motions toward people. Stop only when the patient cries out in pain. For males, stimulate the left side; for females, the right side. Insert to a depth of approximately seven cun. There will be no suffering, and efficacy will be immediate.
The symptoms of this syndrome manifest as sudden severe colic and stifling oppression in the heart and abdomen. Upon pulse diagnosis, a pulse that is tight, large, and floating indicates a fatal prognosis (death), whereas a pulse that is tight, fine, and weak indicates a favorable prognosis (survival). Treatment utilizes: Moschus (She Xiang) 1 fen, Lignum Aromaticum Pini (Qing Mu Xiang), and Cornu Rhinocerotis (Sheng Xi Jiao) each 2 fen. Grind the above ingredients into powder. Take one fang cun bi (a square-inch measure) with warm water on an empty stomach, twice daily. Efficacy will be immediate. If symptoms persist, continue administration. Simultaneously, moxa-apply to the area where hair gathers behind the nail of the big toe on both feet, fourteen moxa cones per site. Recovery will follow.
"Ke Wu" (Invasion by Alien Qi) refers to external pathogenic qi suddenly assaulting the spirit and mind. It often occurs on roads or outside doors. Symptoms include severe colic and distension in the heart and abdomen, qi rushing to the chest and heart, or sudden stifling oppression resulting in loss of consciousness and recognition. Treatment involves moxa-applying the Renzhong (GV26) point below the nose for thirty cones, after which self-healing occurs. Additionally, use the following prescription: Moschus (She Xiang) 1 qian, Poria Cum Radix (Fu Shen), Ginseng Radix (Ren Shen), Asparagi Radix (Tian Men Dong, dehearted), Typhonii Rhizoma (Gui Jiu), and Rhizoma Acori Tatarinowii (Chang Pu) in equal parts. Grind these into pills using honey, sized like paulownia seeds. Take ten pills per dose, three times daily.
"Cum Yan" (Sudden Nightmare/Sleep Paralysis) refers to being oppressed by demonic evil spirits during sleep. Do not illuminate with fire, otherwise it may cause death. Instead, bite forcefully at the heel and the edge of the big toenail, and spit frequently onto the face. The patient will awaken. Alternatively, blow powder from Fructus Gleditsiae Sinensis (Zao Jia) into both nostrils using a bamboo tube, and the patient will rise. For routine prevention, regularly take the following prescription: Ginseng Radix (Ren Shen), Poria Cum Radix (Fu Shen), Poria (Fu Ling), Radix Polygalae (Yuan Zhi, dehearted), Halloysit Rubra (Chi Shi Zhi), Os Draconis (Long Gu), Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Gan Jiang), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Dang Gui), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gan Cao, roasted), Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Bai Zhu), Paeoniae Radix Alba (Shao Yao), Jujubae Fructus (Da Zao, pitted), Cinnamomi Cortex (Gui Xin), Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fang Feng), and Asteris Radix (Zi Wan), each 2 liang. Decoct these in 12 sheng of water until reduced to 3.5 sheng. Divide into five doses. Take three times during the day and twice at night.
