One pair of owl pedal bones (roasted until crisp and ground into powder), 1 liang 5 qian of Kelp (Laminariae Thallus), 1 liang 5 qian of Sargassum (Sargassum Herba) (these two herbs must be washed to remove saltwater and dried). 1 liang each of Forsythia Fruit (Forsythiae Fructus), Scutellaria Root (Scutellariae Radix), Honeysuckle Flower (Lonicerae Japonicae Flos), Pangolin Scales (Manis Squama), Aurantium Fruit (Aurantii Fructus), Cyperus Rhizome (Cyperi Rhizoma), and 5 qian of Gleditsia Sinensis Fruit (Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus).
Grind all together into a fine powder. Form pills using Ophiopogon Tuber (Ophiopogonis Radix) juice as a binder, with the size of Toona seeds (or similar small seeds). Take 70–80 pills per dose, three times daily, administered with Ginger Juice (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens Sucus).
For Luoli (scrofula/cervical lymphadenitis), treatment is easy before ulceration. After ulceration, it is difficult to achieve healing. First, use:
A section of the root of Schizonepeta (Schizonepetae Spica radix portion).
Chop finely, decoct in water to make a soup, and wash the affected area warmly for a prolonged period. Observe if the ulcerated area has purple-black discoloration; puncture with a needle to drain blood, then wash 3–4 more times. Subsequently, apply:
3 qian each of Camphor (Camphora) and Alum (Alumen).
Mix with Sesame Oil (Sesami Oleum) for topical application. Wash and reapply the next day, continuing until healed. Strictly avoid alcohol and sexual activity.
For Shuluo (scrofula with sinus formation) that persists for a long time without healing, one may take wild wolf rats in any quantity, frequently preparing them as soup or porridge for consumption; this will surely be effective. Alternatively, use:
1 jin each of the ash from the feces of white horses, cattle, sheep, chickens, and pigs; 1 jin of Ephedra Root (Ephedrae Herba); 1 jin of Ligusticum Rhizome (Ligustici Rhizoma).
Burn these on a stone until they turn to ash, and grind extremely fine. Separately, boil 1 sheng 3 he of Pig Fat (Suifat) with 1 liang 5 qian of disordered human hair until boiling. Wait until the hair completely dissolves, then add the various medicinal ashes. Simmer over low heat for five or six boils. The ointment is now ready. First, remove the scabs from the wound. Clean the wound with new cotton dipped in saline solution. Wipe dry, then apply the ointment twice daily. Cover with silk cloth and bandage; this is highly effective.
Burn Snake Slough (Bombyx Batryticatus or Ophiophagus hankia slough, typically refers to snake skin shed) to ash, mix with pig fat collected in the twelfth lunar month, and apply as a sealant/poultice.
Use snake heads collected on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month and wild boar fat, mixed with "shuiyi" (likely referring to cicada slough or similar exuviae), to apply as a poultice.
Crush Mugwort Roots (Artemisiae Argyi Rhizoma et Radix) to extract juice, and drip into the orifice; immediate effect is expected.
Take honeycomb, burn to ash, mix with pig fat from the twelfth lunar month, and apply into the orifice.
Apply hot cow dung, changing frequently; it is expected that dung beetles (Scarabaeidae) will emerge.
Chicken Droppings (Galli Stercus) and Earthworm Droppings (Pheretima Excrementum)
In equal parts, grind into powder. Mix with the bone marrow from the lower jaw of a male pig and apply topically.
Sow Droppings (burned to ash), Pig Fat from the twelfth lunar month
Mix and apply topically; worms resembling sparrows are expected to emerge.
