A small white blister suddenly appears on the tongue of an infant, known as "She Sun" (Tongue Bamboo Shoot). Infants suffering from this condition will inevitably refuse breastfeeding and cry incessantly; if untreated, it may lead to death. Immediately apply:
Fresh Rehmanniae Radix (Sheng Dihuang)
Extract juice by crushing, and apply to the affected area several times for spontaneous recovery. If fresh roots are unavailable, dried Rehmanniae Radix (Sheng Dihuang) can be soaked in cool well water until soft, then crushed to extract juice, which is also effective.

Mulberry White Bark Juice (Sang Bai Zhi)
Apply to the nipple and let the infant drink it. Alternatively, mix marrow from sheep tibia bones with Chinese Lead Powder (Hu Fen) and apply to the lesion; this is also effective.

Drink human milk or sheep milk, and the illness will heal. Alternatively, dissolve rock sugar in vinegar, hold the mixture fully in the mouth, which is also effective.

The infant's tongue often curls towards the corners of the mouth, a condition named "Snake Tongue" (She She). Take:
Root Bark or Leaves/Flowers of Hibiscus Mutabilis (Mu Fu Rong)
Pound until extremely pulpy, and mix evenly with two egg whites. Heat the mixture, allow it to cool, then apply to the chest (heart area) and umbilicus, securing tightly with cloth; this is highly effective. Alternatively, grind Realgar (Xiong Huang) into powder and apply to the tongue several times, which is also good.

Realgar (Xiong Huang) 1 qian, Verdigris (Tong Qing) 2 qian
Grind together into powder and apply after mixing. Or:
Chalcanthite (Dan Fan) 1 qian
Heat until red over a spoon, add a small amount of Moschus (She Xiang), grind uniformly, and apply to the teeth.

Gypsum Fibrosum (Shi Gao), Aloe (Lu Hui), Poria (Fu Ling), Fresh Rehmanniae Radix (Sheng Di), Trichosanthes Root (Tian Hua Fen) each 1 qian, Phellodendron Bark (Huang Bo) 5 fen, Ginseng (Ren Shen) 3 fen, Licorice Root (Zhi Gan Cao) 3 qian
Decoct in water and administer orally; symptoms will surely alleviate after several doses. For external use:
Human Tooth Fossil (Ren Zhong Bai, calcined) 1 qian, Copper Green (Tong Lv) 3 fen, Moschus (She Xiang) 1 fen, Earthworm (Qiu Yin) 2 pieces
First soak in juice of Allii Fistulosi Bulbus (Cong Bai), then calcine over fire, grind each into fine powder, and apply to the lesion for immediate cure.

Cimicifugae Rhizoma (Sheng Ma), Belamcanda Rhizoma (She Gan), Rheum Palmatum (Da Huang) each 1 liang
Decoct in 1 sheng 5 he of water until 8 he remains. For a one-year-old infant, divide into three doses. Apply the dregs to the swelling; reheat when cool before applying again. For older children, adjust dosage according to discretion.

Cinnamon Twig (Gui Xin), Apricot Seed (Xing Ren) each 0.5 liang
Grind these two ingredients into powder, wrap in cotton like a date pit, hold in the mouth, and swallow the juice.

Amaranthus tricolor (Chi Xian)
Crush to extract juice and wash the affected area; this is highly effective. Or:
Malva Verticillata Root (Kui Gen)
Burn to ash, mix with clarified butter (Su), and apply.

Mulberry Branch Juice (Sang Mu Zhi)
Apply to the area; the swelling will gradually subside.

Aconitum Carmichaelii Lateral Root (Prepared) (Sheng Fu Zi, skin and navel removed), Arisaema Cum Bile (Sheng Nan Xing) each 2 qian
Grind these two ingredients into powder, mix with Ginger Juice (Jiang Zhi) to form a cake, and apply to Tian Zhu Gu (the cervical spine/neck region); it will heal spontaneously.
