Treats all conditions caused by wind-toxicity attacking upwards, manifesting as discomfort in the chest and heart, dryness and astringency of the mouth and tongue, phlegm congestion due to wind-deficiency, and loss of appetite. It also treats wind-toxicity sinking downwards, leading to Spleen deficiency with yellowish complexion, Kidney exhaustion with weak bones. This formula disperses phlegm and benefits the diaphragm, treating paralysis and all other wind diseases, as well as pediatric convulsions (Xiao'er Jingfeng).
Herbs: Chuan Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma), Yizhi Zi (Alpiniae Oxyphyllae Fructus, peeled), Fuling (Poria), Fushen (Poria with Hostwood, peeled of wood), Manjing Zi (Vittariae Semen, flowers and leaves removed), Weilingxian (Clematidis Radix et Rhizoma, soil removed), Tianma (Gastrodiae Rhizoma), Qianlingpi (Astragali Complanati Semen, stems removed), Wu Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), Shanzhizi (Gardeniae Fructus, seven-ridged, small ones are superior, peeled, each 1 liang), Shexiang (Moschus, 1 fen, ground separately), Xi Mo (Fine Ink Stick, 1 fen, ground separately; in the Imperial Medical Bureau prescription, it is burnt and quenched in vinegar before grinding), Chuan Wutou (Aconiti Radix, 4 liang, used raw, skin and navel removed; in the Imperial Medical Bureau prescription, it is soaked in river water for half a month, changing the water every three days, sliced, dried by baking, then stir-fried with 1 liang of salt until yellow, and the salt removed).
All the above herbs are used raw, ground into powder, mixed with Shexiang and Xi Mo, kneaded with honey, pounded in a mortar ten thousand times, and formed into pills the size of paulownia seeds. Each dose consists of two pills, taken with warm wine mixed with Bohe juice (Menthae Haplocalycis Herba juice). In cases of sudden stroke, four pills are crushed and taken with warm water containing Zaojiao (Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus) and Bai Fan (Alumen), yielding immediate effects. For paralysis due to wind, take three to five pills daily; for maintenance, take one pill daily, which can be taken with tea or wine. For pediatric convulsions, add a small amount of Nifen (Calomelas), dissolve half a pill in Bohe juice, and administer. For scrofula (Luoli), take one pill with clear tea brewed with Congbai (Allii Fistulosi Bulbus); avoid foods that generate wind-toxicity.
This formula treats all wind diseases in adults and children; there is no case where this medicine fails to be effective.
Herbs: Ziran Tong (Pyritum, 8 liang), Jin Xing Fan Shi (Vitriolum Aureum), Yu Yuliang Shi (Haematitum), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum, each of the above 1 liang).
The above four substances are calcined over charcoal fire until red-hot, then quenched in strong vinegar. This process is repeated seventeen times. After drying, they are all ground and sifted into powder, placed in a porcelain basin, and washed twenty times with hot water. Once floating impurities are completely removed and the upper black liquid settles clearly, only the authentic medicinal substance at the bottom is collected. The water is slowly evaporated in a porcelain vessel, and the residue is finely ground. Then, the following herbs are added:
Manjing Zi (Vittariae Semen), Weilingxian (Clematidis Radix et Rhizoma), Fuling (Poria), Tianzhu Huang (Bambusae Concretio Silicea), Tianqian Teng (Uncariae Ramulus cum Uncis), Bai Jiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus), Qianbaishuang (Plumbi Subcarbonas), Xi (Gecko, toxic tips removed, stir-fried), Bai Jili (Tribuli Fructus), Xuanfu Hua (Inulae Flos), Mangcao (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex - *Note: Context suggests a specific herb often associated with wind, possibly Magnolia bark or similar, but literal translation is Mangcao*), Xijiao Cuo (Rhinocerotis Cornu, shaved), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, washed with water decoction, removing saliva seven times, stir-fried with flour until yellow), Huoxiang (Agastaches Herba, each of the above 1 fen), Sangpiaoxiao (Mantis Oötheca), Ji Wushe (Deinagkistrodon Acutus, soaked in wine, skin and bones removed, roasted until yellow, using only the meat, 1 liang), Zhen Hugu (Pantheris Os, 1 liang, soaked in wine, roasted until yellow), Bailongsha (White Dragon Sand - *prepared from white dog feces fed millet for three days, taking the third day's feces, washing out the millet, drying and using, 1 liang*).
The above ingredients are processed, ground, and sifted. Then, the following items are added:
Hao Zhusha (Cinnabaris, 1 liang, refined/flown), Niuhuang (Bovis Calculus), Longnao (Borneolum Syntheticum, each 1 liang), Shexiang (Moschus), Nifen (Calomelas), Ruxiang (Olibanum, each a small amount).
These six substances are ground to a dust-like fineness, mixed evenly with the previously prepared powder. A paste made from Huaijiao gum and wheat flour is used to bind the mixture appropriately. The mass is pounded thoroughly in an iron mortar and formed into pills the size of bullet shots. After drying, one pill is taken at a time, ground down with Doulinjiu (Soybean-leavened wine) and swallowed. This constitutes ten doses. After every five doses, switch to grinding the pill in Zaojiao water for administration. For children, adjust the dosage according to age and condition. When administered to children, grind the pill with Bohe and Yinjin (Lonicerae Japonicae Flos) decoction; the divine efficacy cannot be fully described.
