The classics state: Five Labors, Six Extremes, and Seven Injuries are all caused by disharmony of Ying and Wei (Defensive and Nutritive Qi), and deficiency and damage of Qi and Blood. These may result from excessive sexual activity, uncontrolled alcohol consumption, or improper regulation after recovery from severe illness, leading to transformed syndromes. The symptoms are numerous and cannot be exhaustively listed. Generally, they worsen in spring and summer and improve in autumn and winter.
