Chi You Dan (Red Roaming Erysipelas) arises from heat-toxin in the womb or excessive warmth after birth, causing heat-toxin to manifest externally. The skin becomes red and swollen, resembling cinnabar paint, with a migratory nature that spreads over the entire body; hence it is called Chi You Dan. If the eruption occurs on the head, face, limbs, and moves inward toward the heart and abdomen, it is considered incurable. Internal treatment should primarily focus on clearing heat and detoxifying (Qing Re Jie Du). External treatment should utilize Bian Fa (Stone Needle Therapy). Bian Fa removes bad blood (stagnant blood), followed by applying slices of fresh lean pork to the affected area. For broken or ulcerated areas, apply an equal mixture of finely ground Ming Xiong Huang (Realgar) and Yin Zhu (Vermilion) as a powder dusting; this yields remarkable efficacy.
Note: This volume lists twenty-four syndromes. Although many disease manifestations are omitted, the treatments do not rely on decoctions because infants dislike taking medicine, making this approach most suitable for children. Various massage techniques are also clearly documented in the *Ling Shu* (Spiritual Pivot) and *Su Wen* (Basic Questions). City physicians fail to follow the classics, viewing these methods with superficial contempt, without reading ancient texts and instead engaging in baseless speculation. They mistake the phoenix for a chicken and the dragon for a snake. The deterioration of medical skills has not occurred overnight. However, I dare not claim that the collected methods are sufficient to be complete. I await the opportunity to compile a book on herbal decoction methods to supplement the deficiencies of this work, seeking correction from experts throughout the land to address my shortcomings. This sincere intent to compile and transmit knowledge cannot be suppressed. (Ti Li Zi)
