According to the *Suwen* (Basic Questions), among the people of the Yellow Emperor's era, Qibo was his teacher. Qibo engaged in mutual questioning and answering with the Yellow Emperor, composing the *Neijing* (Inner Canon).
According to the preface of the *Neijing*, Qibo was a minister of the Yellow Emperor. The Emperor revered him as a teacher and asked him about medicine, resulting in the composition of the *Suwen* (Basic Questions) and *Lingshu* (Spiritual Pivot), collectively known as the eighteen volumes of the *Neijing*. Wang Bing, Grand Tutor of the Tang Dynasty, organized and annotated them, establishing them as the ancestral text for physicians. Topics such as pulse principles, disease mechanisms, treatment methods, acupuncture classics, and the Five Movements and Six Qi are all exhaustively detailed. This is truly the work of a sage born by heaven, intended to assist in the transformation and nurturing of life, and it is currently circulating in the world.
A minister of the Yellow Emperor, whose surname is unknown. He assisted the Emperor in discussing pulse classics, thoroughly investigating their principles, which were appended to the *Suwen*.
A minister of the Yellow Emperor, whose surname is unknown. He assisted the Emperor in elucidating the Five Elements, elaborately discussing pulse classics, and produced the *Nanjing* (Classic of Difficult Issues) in the form of questions and answers, exhausting the principles to serve as a guide for governance. From that time until now, people have relied upon it.
A minister of the Yellow Emperor, skilled in medical arts. In treating diseases, he did not use decoctions and fermented wines (Tangye Jaoli), Bian stone therapy and traction (Shijiao Yin), or hot compresses (Tangwu); instead, by merely adjusting [acupoints/meridians], he could observe the response of the disease, and based on the Shu points of the five Zang organs, he would cut the skin and separate the muscle, resolve meridians and untie sinews, wash out the intestines and stomach, rinse the five Zang organs, refine essence and transform the form, thereby eliminating hundred diseases.
A minister of the Yellow Emperor, younger brother of Yufu. His medical skills were largely similar to those of his elder brother.
According to the preface of the *Bencao* (Materia Medica), he was a minister of the Yellow Emperor. He compiled four volumes of *Yaoxing* (Drug Properties) and *Caiyao Lu* (Record of Herb Collection), recording the color, shape, and characteristics of flowers and leaves, discussing the Jun-Chen-Zuo-Shi (Monarch-Minister-Assistant-Courier) hierarchy, Xiangxu-Xiangfan (Mutual Enhancement/Mutual Opposition) relationships, and the appropriate formulations for treating cold and heat conditions. These teachings have been transmitted without fading to this day.
According to the *Suwen*, Leigong was a minister of the Yellow Emperor, surnamed Lei, named [missing character], and skilled in medicine. When the Yellow Emperor was sitting at leisure, he summoned Leigong and asked him: "You have received techniques and studied books. If you can browse diverse learning, distinguish differences and make analogies, and integrate and understand the principles, striving to clarify them, you can achieve perfection in ten cases. If you cannot know these, you will be resented by the world." He also said: "Do you understand the Way of Medicine? Reciting and somewhat understanding, understanding but not clarifying, clarifying but not manifesting. This is sufficient to treat officials, but insufficient to treat kings and nobles." Leigong stepped back from his seat and bowed twice, saying: "This subject is young, small, foolish, and ignorant, confused and having not heard [of these matters]. This subject has accepted studies and passed them on for teaching; please allow me to recite the upper and lower scrolls of the *Maijing* (Pulse Classic). Regarding distinguishing differences and making analogies, I am still unable to achieve perfection in ten cases, so how could I possibly explain them clearly?"
