The above five formulas constitute the Five Elements' Leveling Qi Decoctions. When encountering years corresponding to the normal musical tones (Pingqi years), these formulas are not required, as detailed in the previous records of Yun (Five Movements). For example, the Wood movement in Taijiao years is called "Fasheng" (Generating), representing excess; Shaojiao years are called "Weihe" (Yielding Harmony), representing deficiency; only Zhengjiao years are called "Fuhe" (Spreading Harmony), representing balanced Qi. Whenever encountering years of excess or deficiency, one may consider adding or subtracting based on these five Leveling Qi Decoctions, which may certainly provide benefit.
Zhengyang Decoction (Correcting True Yang Decoction): Applicable when Shaoyin Sovereign Fire Qi governs the upper half of the year and Yangming Dryness Metal Qi governs the lower half, regardless of whether the Qi is excessive or deficient. It is appropriate to use this formula to correct the True Yang Fire. Since this Yang Fire refers to Sovereign Fire, it is named "Zhengyang" (Correcting True Yang).
