The pulse at the right Guan position is weak and short, while the pulse at the left Guan position is slippery and large; this indicates Spleen deficiency and Liver excess. A tight pulse at the Cun position accompanied by belching belongs to Cold; when Cold is in the Upper Jiao, Qi stagnation in the chest leads to belching. A weak and slow pulse at the Cun position indicates insufficiency of Yang Qi.
A faint and choppy pulse at the Fu Yang position indicates that a faint pulse signifies deficient Stomach Qi, while a choppy pulse indicates injury to the Spleen. If purgatives are incorrectly used when Cold is present in the diaphragm, Cold accumulation will not dissipate, resulting in weak Stomach Qi and injured Spleen. The movement of Grain Qi ceases, leading to spontaneous belching after eating; obstruction of Stomach Qi results in a disease of blockage.
Shiwei Baohe Tang (Ten-Ingredient Harmony-Preserving Decoction): Treats belching caused by Qi stagnation due to Stomach Qi deficiency.
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix), Fu Ling (Poria), Chen Pi (Citrus Reticulatae Pericarpium), Ban Xia (Pinelliae Rhizoma processed with ginger), Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) (each 1 qian); Huo Xiang (Agastaches Herba), Xiang Fu (Cyperi Rhizoma), Sha Ren (Amomi Fructus) (each 6 fen); Mu Xiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Zhi Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma prepared with honey) (each 3 fen).

Splein Meridian Acupoint: As stated in the classics, "When the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian is disturbed, it causes abdominal distension and frequent belching; observe its excess or deficiency, heat or cold, and treat depressed pulses by selecting appropriate points." Zhongwan (CV12).
Foul pathogens entering through the mouth constitute retained food. Symptoms include headache, aversion to wind, fear of cold, epigastric and abdominal fullness, diarrhea, anorexia, acid regurgitation, belching of putrid food odors, or edema of the four limbs. If the Stomach is excess with stagnant hot food and the pulse is slippery and rapid, purgation is indicated. If the Spleen pulse is floating and large but choppy upon pressure, and the Chi pulse is also faint and choppy, warming and resolving methods are indicated.
(*Zazhuo*) uses Zhizhu Wan (Aurantii Fructus and Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma Pill) added with Ginger-fried Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Stir-fried Shao Yao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Chen Pi (Citrus Reticulatae Pericarpium), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Shi Gao (Gypsum Fibrosum), Sha Ren (Amomi Fructus), Mu Xiang (Aucklandiae Radix), and Chuan Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma).
