This condition manifests with the entire throat covered in red, yellow, and white spots resembling plum blossoms, accompanied by excessive phlegm and saliva, a stiff tongue, flushed face, tidal fever, and thirst. It is a syndrome of extreme heat. Treatment should employ cooling, wind-dispersing, detoxifying, and membrane-removing herbs; internally, Yulong San (Jade Dragon Powder) should be insufflated into the throat.
This condition manifests on both sides of the throat, with the tongue turning black. This is transmitted from the Kidney Meridian (Kidney Channel) and is an incurable syndrome. Patients suffering from this condition must have experienced extreme cold or heat, due to excessive sexual activity leading to the exhaustion of Kidney Qi.
This condition may manifest in the throat or on the tongue, presenting with red fleshy growths. Patients will necessarily have a purple-black complexion, having suddenly contracted Wind-Heat pathogenic factors, causing qi obstruction within the throat and inability to swallow food. Treatment should first involve pricking to bleed, followed by administering Sheng Dihuang Tang (Rehmannia Root Decoction) combined with Jiedu Tang (Detoxification Decoction). This is a syndrome caused by ingesting toxic substances; if prolonged, it becomes difficult to treat.
This condition originates from extreme heat in the Heart Meridian (Heart Channel). The tongue is swollen, red, stiff, and hard, extending over one cun in thickness, rendering speech and eating impossible, with excessive phlegm and saliva. Huanglian Xiaodu San (Coptis Detoxification Powder) should be used, added with herbs that dispel wind, resolve phlegm, and eliminate saliva. If the tongue protrudes beyond the teeth and cannot retract, it is incurable.
This condition manifests beneath the tongue, where a supernumerary tongue grows. The original tongue is stiff, and the newly grown tongue is also hard. If the new tongue grows too large, it rolls up the original tongue, preventing the intake of food and drink. This is caused by heat-toxin emanating from the Heart Meridian. Treatment should utilize Huanglian Xiaodu San (Coptis Detoxification Powder), appropriately supplemented with detoxifying and blood-cooling herbs.
This condition develops slowly above and below the tongue, which becomes rough, hard, and stone-like. If nodules form and suppurate, it is treatable. If no nodules form, and the mouth and tongue gradually shrink, eventually disappearing after two to three years, even miraculous pills cannot cure it. This is a syndrome of internal injury to the Heart Meridian. If the ulcerated spots turn black, it is also incurable.
This condition manifests on the tongue, which becomes swollen, stiff, and curled inward at the tip, preventing speech and swallowing of food. This is toxin emanating from the Heart Meridian. The treatment method involves administering Xijiao Dihuang Tang (Rhinoceros Horn and Rehmannia Root Decoction), added with herbs that clear the Heart, resolve phlegm, and detoxify.
This condition manifests at the root and base of the tongue, forming painful nodules. It is a Yang syndrome (Excess Heat Syndrome) and requires seven days after suppuration for recovery. This syndrome originates from the Heart Meridian. Treatment should employ herbs that clear the Heart, raise yang, detoxify, and cool heat.
