论曰肺之合皮也，其荣毛也而主气。其俞在背，若风冷伤之，皆令咳嗽，小儿血气肌肤
嫩弱，若襁褓解脱不时，风寒伤于皮毛，搏于肺气，则成咳嗽，其乳子未满百日，伤于背，
循俞而入者，则病难治。
治小儿一切咳嗽，解寒壅。杏仁汤方

上三味，捣罗为散，每服一字，至半钱匕，用生姜米饮调下，更量儿大小加减。
治小儿咳嗽汗出。杏仁汤方

郁金（一两入防风去叉皂荚各半两巴豆十四枚用河水两碗煮水尽不用三味只取郁金捣为

上三味，捣研为散。每服一字匕，煎蝉蜕乌梅汤调下。
治小儿哽气，咳嗽痰热。盆硝丸方
盆硝 马牙硝 甜硝 铅白霜 丹砂 续随子 青黛 白矾（烧汁尽） 腻粉（各一钱）
龙脑 麝香（各一字）
上一十一味，并细研为末。粳米饭为丸，三岁以上，如鸡头实大。二岁以下，如梧桐子
大，三两个月儿，如小豆大一丸，并用茶汤化下。
治小儿胃虚哕，咳逆，吐乳食。香枳散方
藿香（二十一叶） 枳壳（二片湿纸裹焙） 蚌粉（一块如枳壳大）
上三味，捣罗为散。每服半钱匕，米饮调下，更量儿大小加减。
治小儿咳嗽喘闷。贝母散方
贝母（去心麸炒半两） 甘草（炙一分）
上二味，捣罗为散。如二三岁儿。每服一钱匕，水七分，煎至四分。去滓入牛黄末少许
，食后温分二服，更量儿大小加减。
治小儿咳嗽。三灰散方
巴豆（去壳） 杏仁（去尖） 半夏（等分）
上三味，用瓷合盛。以赤石脂闭口，炭火 令透赤，取出放冷细研，二岁儿每服半钱匕
，淡生姜汤下，更量大小加减。
治小儿一切咳嗽。郁金散方
郁金（锉半两） 防风（去叉切） 半夏（切各一分） 巴豆（去壳二十一粒） 皂荚
（锉一挺）
上五味，以水一升，同于银石器内，煮令干，去巴豆皂荚不用。以温汤洗余三味，焙干
捣罗为末，每服半钱匕，生姜蜜熟水调下，更量儿大小加减。
治小儿感寒咳嗽，痰涎不利。贝母散方
贝母（去心） 皂荚子（炒焦色黄各半两） 葶苈子（隔纸炒一分） 甘草（炙锉半两）
上四味，捣罗为散，每服半钱匕，米饮调下，乳食后服。
治小儿痰嗽。半夏丸方
半夏（七枚圆大者汤洗七遍切生姜汁浸一宿焙） 定粉（研） 白矾（烧令汁尽各一钱）
上三味，捣罗为末。面糊丸如麻子大，浓煎白茅根汤下三丸五丸，量儿大小加减食后服。
治小儿咳嗽。杏仁煎丸方
杏仁（去皮尖双仁生研四十九枚） 皂荚（椎碎半挺） 栝蒌（大者一枚） 生百部（一

上一味，以快火烧为灰研细。每服一字匕，饭饮调下。
治小儿涎嗽不止。注唇散方
防风（肥实者三握去叉用半夏七枚郁金一枚并椎碎猪牙皂荚三条锉用水一碗同煮水尽为
度只取防风切焙为末） 滑石（碎） 白僵蚕（炒二味为末各一钱）
上三味，同研匀。每服一字匕，用蜜调涂在儿唇上，令儿KT 吃。
治小儿涎嗽。延胡索散方
延胡索（半两） 铅白霜（研一分）
上二味，捣研为散和匀，每服一字匕，涂乳上，令儿KT 之。
治小儿奶食冲脾，伤风咳嗽。坠涎葶苈子丸方
葶苈子（纸上炒一分） 牵牛子（炒） 防己 杏仁（去皮尖双仁炒研各一两）
上四味，捣研为末。煮枣肉丸如绿豆大，每服三丸至五丸。量儿大小加减。生姜汤下，
日再。
治小儿咳嗽。桃花散方
蛤蚧（酥炙一钱） 蛤粉（研二钱） 芎 （一分） 丹砂（研半钱）
上四味，捣研为散。每服半钱匕，温齑汁调下，量大小加减，乳食后服。
治婴儿未满百日、咳嗽。注唇膏方
白僵蚕（蜜炙十五枚） 雄黄（研半钱） 杏仁（汤浸去皮尖双仁炒研） 贝母（去心
各七枚） 龙脑（研一字）
上五味，捣研为末。生蜜和为膏，每用少许，注唇上，令儿咂之。
治小儿月内及百 。暴嗽吐乳，呕逆不得息。桔梗汤方

上四味，捣罗为散，每服半钱匕，煎黄蜡米饮调下。
治小儿咳嗽。贝母饮方

上五味，捣研为细末。面糊丸如绿豆大，每服五丸，量儿大小加减。薄荷汤下。
治小儿热嗽。硝矾散方
马牙硝 白矾（各半斤） 铅丹（一分）
上三味同研，入合子固济，火烧令红。复湿地一夜，加龙脑半钱匕同研，每服一字匕，
甘草汤下，更量大小加减。
治小儿呀呷不止方
猪肠（一截） 郁金末 蚌粉（各一两）
上三味，将二味纳肠中，系两头，火炙干。细罗为末，每服半钱匕，夜卧熟水调下，三
服顿服尽，永不发。
论述说：肺与皮毛相合，其荣华表现在毛发上，并主管气。肺的输注穴位在背部，如果风冷邪气侵袭，都会导致咳嗽。小儿气血和肌肤娇嫩柔弱，如果襁褓包裹不及时或解开不当，风寒邪气伤及皮毛，与肺气搏结，就会形成咳嗽。对于出生未满百日的婴儿，如果背部受寒，邪气沿着俞穴深入体内，则病情难以治愈。
治疗小儿各种咳嗽，解除寒邪壅滞。杏仁汤方

以上三味药，捣碎过罗制成散剂。每次服用一字至半钱匕，用生姜米饮调服，并根据患儿年龄大小酌情增减剂量。
治疗小儿咳嗽伴有汗出。杏仁汤方
杏仁（去皮尖，双仁，炒四十九枚） 皂荚（去皮，酥炙，一挺） 甘草（生用） 蛤粉（各一两） 牵牛子（炒，半分） 紫菀（去苗土，一分）
以上六味药，捣碎并筛粗末。每次服用半钱匕，用水半盏，加入少许醋汁，煎煮三五沸。滤去药渣，温服，并根据患儿年龄大小酌情增减剂量。
治疗小儿突发剧烈咳嗽。五味子汤方
五味子 桂枝（去粗皮） 干姜（炮制，以上等分）
以上三味药，捣碎并筛粗末。每次服用一钱匕，用水七分，煎至四分，滤去药渣，根据患儿年龄大小酌情增减后温服。
治疗小儿肺经受寒，声音嘶哑不出。人参汤方
人参 甘草（炙） 黄明胶（炙燥，各一分） 杏仁（热水浸泡，去皮尖，双仁，炒） 麻黄（去根节） 贝母（去心，各半两）
以上六味药，捣碎并筛粗末。每次服用一钱匕，用水七分，加入少许糯米。一同煎至四分，不限时间，滤去药渣，根据患儿年龄大小酌情增减后温服。
治疗小儿咳嗽。金黄散方
郁金（一两，入防风去叉、皂荚各半两、巴豆十四枚，用河水两碗煮至水尽，不用这三味，只取郁金捣为末） 甜硝（研细） 雌黄（研细，各半两）
以上三味药，捣碎研细制成散剂。每次服用一字匕，煎蝉蜕乌梅汤调服。
治疗小儿气逆哽塞，咳嗽痰热。盆硝丸方
盆硝 马牙硝 甜硝 铅白霜 丹砂 续随子 青黛 白矾（烧至汁尽） 腻粉（各一钱）
龙脑 麝香（各一字）
以上十一味药，一并细研为末。用粳米饭做丸剂，三岁以上儿童，如鸡头实大小；二岁以下儿童，如梧桐子大小；两三月的婴儿，如小豆大一丸，均用茶汤化开服用。
治疗小儿胃虚呃逆，咳逆，吐乳食。香枳散方
藿香（二十一叶） 枳壳（二片，湿纸包裹焙干） 蚌粉（一块，大小如枳壳）
以上三味药，捣碎过罗制成散剂。每次服用半钱匕，用米饮调服，并根据患儿年龄大小酌情增减剂量。
治疗小儿咳嗽气喘胸闷。贝母散方
贝母（去心，麸炒，半两） 甘草（炙，一分）
以上二味药，捣碎过罗制成散剂。如果是二三岁的儿童，每次服用一钱匕，用水七分，煎至四分。滤去药渣，加入少许牛黄末，饭后分两次温服，并根据患儿年龄大小酌情增减剂量。
治疗小儿咳嗽。三灰散方
巴豆（去壳） 杏仁（去尖） 半夏（以上等分）
以上三味药，用瓷盒盛装。以赤石脂封口，用炭火煨透至通红，取出放冷后细研。两岁儿童每次服用半钱匕，用淡生姜汤送服，并根据年龄大小酌情增减剂量。
治疗小儿各种咳嗽。郁金散方
郁金（锉碎，半两） 防风（去叉切） 半夏（切，各一分） 巴豆（去壳，二十一粒） 皂荚（锉碎，一挺）
以上五味药，用水一升，同在银石器内煮至干，去掉巴豆和皂荚不用。用温水清洗剩下的三味药，焙干后捣碎过罗成末。每次服用半钱匕，用生姜蜜熟水调服，并根据患儿年龄大小酌情增减剂量。
治疗小儿感寒咳嗽，痰涎不利。贝母散方
贝母（去心） 皂荚子（炒焦色黄，各半两） 葶苈子（隔纸炒，一分） 甘草（炙锉，半两）
以上四味药，捣碎过罗制成散剂。每次服用半钱匕，用米饮调服，在乳食后服用。
治疗小儿痰嗽。半夏丸方
半夏（七枚圆大者，热水洗七遍，切片，用生姜汁浸泡一夜，焙干） 定粉（研细） 白矾（烧至汁尽，各一钱）
以上三味药，捣碎过罗成末。用面糊做成如麻子大小的丸剂。浓煎白茅根汤，送服三至五丸，根据患儿年龄大小酌情增减，饭后服用。
治疗小儿咳嗽。杏仁煎丸方
杏仁（去皮尖，双仁，生研，四十九枚） 皂荚（捶碎，半挺） 栝蒌（大者一枚） 生百部（一两，以上四味并用水捣绞取浓汁，然后同入银石器内慢火熬成膏） 牵牛子（捣末，一两） 木香（半分）
以上六味药，后两味捣为末。加入前四味的膏中。和匀做成如绿豆大小的丸剂。每次服用三至五丸。用糯米饮送服，根据患儿年龄大小酌情增减。
治疗小儿咳嗽。蜂房灰散方
露蜂房（二两）
以上一味药，用猛火烧成灰，研细。每次服用一字匕，用饭饮调服。
治疗小儿流涎咳嗽不止。注唇散方
防风（肥实者，三握，去叉，用半夏七枚、郁金一枚并捶碎、猪牙皂荚三条锉碎，用水一碗同煮至水尽为度，只取防风切焙为末） 滑石（碎） 白僵蚕（炒，以上二味为末，各一钱）
以上三味药，同研均匀。每次服用一字匕，用蜂蜜调匀涂在患儿嘴唇上，令患儿舔食。
治疗小儿流涎咳嗽。延胡索散方
延胡索（半两） 铅白霜（研细，一分）
以上二味药，捣研为散并和匀。每次服用一字匕，涂在乳汁上，令患儿吮吸。
治疗小儿奶食冲犯脾胃，伤风咳嗽。坠涎葶苈子丸方
葶苈子（纸上炒，一分） 牵牛子（炒） 防己 杏仁（去皮尖，双仁，炒研，各一两）
以上四味药，捣研为末。煮枣肉做成如绿豆大小的丸剂。每次服用三至五丸。根据患儿年龄大小酌情增减。用生姜汤送服，每日两次。
治疗小儿咳嗽。桃花散方
蛤蚧（酥炙，一钱） 蛤粉（研，二钱） 川芎（一分） 丹砂（研，半钱）
以上四味药，捣研为散。每次服用半钱匕，用温醋汁调服，根据年龄大小酌情增减，在乳食后服用。
治疗未满百天的婴儿咳嗽。注唇膏方
白僵蚕（蜜炙，十五枚） 雄黄（研，半钱） 杏仁（热水浸泡，去皮尖，双仁，炒研） 贝母（去心，各七枚） 龙脑（研，一字）
以上五味药，捣研为末。用生蜜调和成膏。每次取少许，涂在患儿嘴唇上，令患儿吮吸。
治疗小儿月内及百日内的婴儿。突发咳嗽吐乳，呕逆呼吸困难。桔梗汤方
桔梗（炒） 紫菀（去苗土，各三分） 麦门冬（去心焙，一两三分） 甘草（炙锉，一分）
以上四味药，捣碎并筛粗末。每次服用一钱匕，用水七分，煎至四分，滤去药渣温服，根据患儿年龄大小酌情增减。
治疗小儿寒邪壅滞痰涎，咳嗽不止。润肺汤方
麻黄（去根节，煎掠去沫，焙干） 人参（各二两） 杏仁（热水浸泡，去皮尖，双仁，炒） 贝母（去心，各二两半） 甘草（炙，一两） 陈橘皮（去白焙，一分） 桔梗（炒） 阿胶（炒令干燥，各半两）
以上八味药，捣碎并筛粗末。每次服用一钱匕，用水七分，煎至四分，滤去药渣温服。不限时间，根据患儿年龄大小酌情增减。
治疗小儿寒邪壅滞不调，咳嗽痰涎。半夏丸方
半夏（热汤洗三七遍，去滑，焙干） 葶苈子（水净淘洗，另研为膏） 杏仁（热水浸泡，去皮尖，双仁，麸炒，另研为膏，各半两） 五灵脂（微炒） 丹砂（另研，各一两）
以上五味药，捣研为末。用生姜汁煮面糊，做成如黍米大小的丸剂。每次服用五至七丸。饭后用淡生姜汤送服。
治疗小儿咳嗽。白散子方
栝蒌根 知母（焙） 贝母（去心） 甘草（炙锉，以上等分）
以上四味药，捣碎过罗制成散剂。每次服用半钱匕，煎黄蜡米饮调服。
治疗小儿咳嗽。贝母饮方
贝母（去心，麸炒） 麻黄（去根节，煎掠去沫，焙干） 紫菀（去苗土） 甘草（炙，各一分） 杏仁（热水浸泡，去皮尖，双仁，炒，三分） 麦门冬（去心焙，半两）
以上六味药，捣碎并筛粗末。五六岁的儿童，每次服用一钱匕，用水七分，煎至四分，滤去药渣温服。
治疗小儿肺感风寒，呼吸有声的咳嗽。清膈丸方
半夏（热水浸泡七遍，去滑，焙干） 白矾（熬枯） 铅白霜 滑石 天竺黄（以上等分）
以上五味药，捣研为细末。用面糊做成如绿豆大小的丸剂。每次服用五丸，根据患儿年龄大小酌情增减。用薄荷汤送服。
治疗小儿热嗽。硝矾散方
马牙硝 白矾（各半斤） 铅丹（一分）
以上三味药同研，放入盒子中密封固济，火烧至红。再用湿地放置一夜，加入龙脑半钱匕同研。每次服用一字匕，用甘草汤送服，并根据年龄大小酌情增减。
治疗小儿呼吸急促不止方
猪肠（一截） 郁金末 蚌粉（各一两）
以上三味药，将后两味纳入肠中，系住两头，用火烤干。细罗成末。每次服用半钱匕，夜间睡觉时用熟水调服，三次服药顿服完，永不复发。
Commentary states: The Lung corresponds to the skin and its flourishing aspect is manifested in the hair, governing Qi. Its Shu points are located on the back. If Wind-Cold invades, it causes coughing. Infants have delicate Qi and blood and tender skin and muscles. If swaddling clothes are not adjusted timely or removed improperly, Wind-Cold damages the skin and hair, combusting with Lung Qi, resulting in coughing. For infants under one hundred days old, if the back is injured by cold, pathogenic factors enter along the Shu points, making the disease difficult to treat.
To treat all types of coughing in children and resolve Cold obstruction. Xingren Tang (Apricot Seed Decoction) prescription:
Xingren (Sheng Apricot Seed, peeled, tip removed, double kernel), Zhimu (Baked Anemarrhena Rhizome), Beimu (Peeled Fritillaria Bulb), Kuandonghua (Adenophora Flower), Xianlingshi (Epimedium Herba), Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba, root nodes removed), Gancao (Roasted Licorice Root), Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Chifuling (Red Poria with Black Skin Removed), Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix) (all in equal proportions).
The above ten herbs are coarsely crushed and sifted. Each dose consists of one qianbi (approx. 3-5g), boiled in seven parts water until four parts remain. Strain and take warm. For cough due to Shanghan (Cold Damage), add Congbai (Scallion White) and Yanchi (Salted Soybeans) for decoction; adjust dosage according to the child's age and size.
To treat coughing in children. Ziwan San (Aster Powder) prescription:
Ziwan (Peeled Aster Root), Beimu (Peeled Fritillaria Bulb, each half liang), Kuandonghua (Adenophora Flower, one fen).
The above three herbs are crushed, sieved into powder. Each dose is one zi (approx. 1-2g) to half a qianbi, taken with Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger) and Mi Yin (Rice Drink); adjust dosage according to the child's age and size.
To treat coughing with sweating in children. Xingren Tang (Apricot Seed Decoction) prescription:
Xingren (Peeled, tip removed, double kernel, fried, 49 kernels), Zaojiao (Gleditsia Sinensis Fruit, peeled, fried with Su oil, one stick), Gancao (Raw Licorice Root), Ge Fen (Concha Tridacnitis), Eshi (Folium Nitrariae, fried, half fen), Ziwan (Peeled Aster Root, one fen).
The above six herbs are coarsely crushed and sifted. Each dose is half a qianbi, boiled in half a zhan (approx. 100ml) water with a little Jizhi (Vinegar Juice) for three to five boils. Strain and take warm; adjust dosage according to the child's age and size.
To treat sudden severe coughing in children. Wuweizi Tang (Schisandra Decoction) prescription:
Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus), Gui (Cinnamomi Ramulus, bark removed), Jiangjiang (Dried Ginger Rhizome, processed) (all in equal proportions).
The above three herbs are coarsely crushed and sifted. Each dose is one qianbi, boiled in seven parts water until four parts remain. Strain, adjust dosage according to the child's age and size, and take warm.
To treat Lung channel Cold invasion causing hoarseness or inability to speak in children. Renshen Tang (Ginseng Decoction) prescription:
Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Gancao (Roasted Licorice Root), Huangmingjiao (Yellow Ming Glue, roasted dry, each one fen), Xingren (Soaked in hot water, peeled, tip removed, double kernel, fried), Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba, root nodes removed), Beimu (Peeled Fritillaria Bulb, each half liang).
The above six herbs are coarsely crushed and sifted. Each dose is one qianbi, boiled in seven parts water with a little Nuomi (Glutinous Rice) until four parts remain. Take at any time, strain, adjust dosage according to the child's age and size, and take warm.
To treat coughing in children. Jinhuang San (Golden Yellow Powder) prescription:
Yujin (Curcumae Radix, one liang, combined with Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, de-bristled, half liang), Zaojiao (Gleditsia Sinensis Fruit, half liang), Badou (Crotonis Semen, 14 kernels), boiled in two bowls of river water until water is exhausted; discard these four ingredients, retain only Yujin, crush into powder), Tianxiao (Sweet Niter, ground), Cihuang (Realgar, ground, each half liang).
The above three ingredients are crushed and ground into powder. Each dose is one zi bi, taken with Chan Tui (Cicada Slough) and Wumei (Mume Fructus) decoction.
To treat infantile Qi stagnation with choking, coughing with Phlegm-Heat. Penxiao Wan (Basin Niter Pill) prescription:
Penxiao (Basin Niter), Yayaxiao (Horse Tooth Niter), Tianxiao (Sweet Niter), Qianbaishuang (Lead White Frost), Dansha (Cinnabar), Xuisuizi (Spurges Semen), Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis), Bai Fan (Alumen, burned until juice is gone), Nin Fen (Calomelas, each one qian), Longnao (Borneol), Shexiang (Moschus) (each one zi).
The above eleven herbs are finely ground into powder. Form pills using Jingmi Fan (Japonica Rice Porridge). For children over three years old, size of Jitou Shi (Echinococcus fruit); for children under two years old, size of Wutongzi (Phellodendron seed); for infants two to three months old, size of Xiaodou (Small Bean) one pill. Dissolve in Tea Water.
To treat infantile Stomach deficiency with hiccups, retching cough, vomiting milk/food. Xiangzhi San (Agarwood and Aurantium Powder) prescription:
Huoxiang (Patchouli Herba, 21 leaves), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus, two slices wrapped in wet paper and baked), Bangfen (Concha Margaritiferae Aquatilis, one piece the size of Zhike).
The above three herbs are crushed and sieved into powder. Each dose is half a qianbi, taken with Mi Yin (Rice Drink); adjust dosage according to the child's age and size.
To treat coughing with wheezing and chest oppression in children. Beimu San (Fritillaria Powder) prescription:
Beimu (Peeled Fritillaria Bulb, bran-fried, half liang), Gancao (Roasted Licorice Root, one fen).
The above two herbs are crushed and sieved into powder. For children aged two or three, each dose is one qianbi, boiled in seven parts water until four parts remain. Strain, add a little Niuhuang (Bovis Calculus) powder, take warm in two divided doses after meals; adjust dosage according to the child's age and size.
To treat coughing in children. Sanhui San (Three Ashes Powder) prescription:
Badou (Crotonis Semen, shelled), Xingren (Apricot Seed, tip removed), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma) (equal proportions).
The above three herbs are placed in a porcelain container. Seal the mouth with Chishizhi (Red Halloysite), roast over charcoal fire until thoroughly red-hot. Remove, cool, and grind finely. For two-year-old children, each dose is half a qianbi, taken with Dan Shengjiang Tang (Light Fresh Ginger Decoction); adjust dosage according to age and size.
To treat all types of coughing in children. Yujin San (Curcuma Powder) prescription:
Yujin (Curcumae Radix, sliced, half liang), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, de-bristled and sliced), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, sliced, each one fen), Badou (Crotonis Semen, shelled, 21 kernels), Zaojiao (Gleditsia Sinensis Fruit, sliced, one stick).
The above five herbs are boiled in one sheng (approx. 200ml) water in a silver or earthenware vessel until dry. Discard Badou and Zaojiao. Wash the remaining three herbs with warm water, bake dry, crush and sieve into powder. Each dose is half a qianbi, taken with Shengjiang Mi Shui (Ginger Honey Water); adjust dosage according to the child's age and size.
To treat Cold-induced coughing with difficult expectoration of Phlegm-Saliva in children. Beimu San (Fritillaria Powder) prescription:
Beimu (Peeled Fritillaria Bulb), Zaojiazi (Gleditsia Sinensis Seed, fried until scorched yellow, each half liang), Tinglizi (Descurainiae Semen Lepidii Semen, fried between papers, one fen), Gancao (Roasted and sliced, half liang).
The above four herbs are crushed and sieved into powder. Each dose is half a qianbi, taken with Mi Yin (Rice Drink), after milk/food intake.
To treat Phlegm-cough in children. Banxia Wan (Pinellia Pill) prescription:
Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, seven large ones, washed seven times in hot water, sliced, soaked in Shengjiang Zhi (Fresh Ginger Juice) overnight, baked), Dingfen (Minium, ground), Bai Fan (Alumen, burned until juice is gone, each one qian).
The above three herbs are crushed and sieved into powder. Form pills with Mian Hu (Flour Paste) the size of Hemp Seeds. Take three to five pills with Nongjian Baimaogen Tang (Strongly Decocted Imperata Rhizome Decoction); adjust dosage according to the child's age and size, take after meals.
To treat coughing in children. Xingren Jian Wan (Apricot Seed Concentrate Pill) prescription:
Xingren (Apricot Seed, peeled, tip removed, double kernel, raw ground, 49 kernels), Zaojiao (Gleditsia Sinensis Fruit, crushed, half a stick), Gualou (Trichosanthis Fructus, one large one), Sheng Baibu (Stemonae Radix, one liang). The above four herbs are pounded with water to extract thick juice, then slowly simmered in an silver/earthenware vessel into a paste. Qianniuzi (Pharbitidis Semen, ground powder, one liang), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix, half fen).
The last two herbs are ground into powder. Mix into the previous four-herb paste. Form pills the size of Green Beans. Take three to five pills at a time. Take with Nuomi Yin (Glutinous Rice Drink); adjust dosage according to the child's age and size.
To treat coughing in children. Fengfang Hui San (Honeycomb Ash Powder) prescription:
Lufengfang (Honeycomb, two liang).
The above single herb is burned quickly to ash and ground finely. Each dose is one zi bi, taken with Fan Yin (Rice Drink).
To treat incessant Saliva-cough in children. Zhu Chun San (Apply to Lips Powder) prescription:
Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, plump, three handfuls, de-bristled, combined with Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, seven kernels), Yujin (Curcumae Radix, one kernel), both crushed, plus Zhuya Zaojiao (Tooth-shaped Gleditsia Fruit, three strips, sliced), boiled in one bowl of water until water is exhausted; retain only Fangfeng, slice, bake, and grind into powder), Huashi (Talcum, crushed), Bai Jiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus, fried, the latter two ground into powder, each one qian).
The above three ingredients are mixed and ground evenly. Each dose is one zi bi, mixed with Honey and applied to the child's lips for the child to lick.
To treat Saliva-cough in children. Yanhusuo San (Corydalis Powder) prescription:
Yanhusuo (Corydzidis Rhizoma, half liang), Qianbaishuang (Lead White Frost, ground, one fen).
The above two herbs are crushed, ground into powder, and mixed evenly. Each dose is one zi bi, applied to breast milk for the child to suck.
To treat Milk/Food damaging the Spleen and Wind-Cold cough in children. Zhuiyan Tinglizi Wan (Saliva-Descending Descurainia Pill) prescription:
Tinglizi (Descurainiae Semen Lepidii Semen, fried on paper, one fen), Qianniuzi (Pharbitidis Semen, fried), Fangji (Kochiae Radix), Xingren (Apricot Seed, peeled, tip removed, double kernel, fried and ground, each one liang).
The above four herbs are crushed and ground into powder. Form pills with Cooked Jujube Meat the size of Green Beans. Take three to five pills at a time. Adjust dosage according to the child's age and size. Take with Shengjiang Tang (Fresh Ginger Decoction), twice daily.
To treat coughing in children. Taohua San (Peach Blossom Powder) prescription:
Gejie (Gecko, fried with Su oil, one qian), Ge Fen (Concha Tridacnitis, ground, two qian), Xiong (Ligusticum Wallichii Rhizome, one fen), Dansha (Cinnabar, ground, half qian).
The above four herbs are crushed and ground into powder. Each dose is half a qianbi, taken with Wen Jizhi (Warm Vinegar Juice); adjust dosage according to age, take after milk/food.
To treat coughing in infants under one hundred days. Zhuchun Gao (Apply to Lips Ointment) prescription:
Bai Jiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus, honey-fried, fifteen kernels), Xionghuang (Realgar, ground, half qian), Xingren (Apricot Seed, soaked in hot water, peeled, tip removed, double kernel, fried and ground), Beimu (Peeled Fritillaria Bulb, each seven kernels), Longnao (Borneol, ground, one zi).
The above five herbs are crushed and ground into powder. Mix with Raw Honey to form an ointment. Apply a small amount to the lips for the child to suck.
To treat infants within one month and up to one hundred days. Sudden cough, vomiting milk, retching, difficulty breathing. Jiegeng Tang (Platycodon Decoction) prescription:
Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix, fried), Ziwan (Aster Root, peeled of soil, each three fen), Maimendong (Ophiopogonis Radix, heart removed, baked, one liang three fen), Gancao (Roasted and sliced, one fen).
The above four herbs are coarsely crushed and sifted. Each dose is one qianbi, boiled in seven parts water until four parts remain. Strain and take warm; adjust dosage according to the child's age and size.
To treat Cold obstruction with Phlegm-Saliva and incessant coughing in children. Runfei Tang (Moisten Lung Decoction) prescription:
Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba, root nodes removed, boiled to skim foam, baked), Renshen (Ginseng Radix, each two liang), Xingren (Apricot Seed, soaked in hot water, peeled, tip removed, double kernel, fried), Beimu (Peeled Fritillaria Bulb, each two liang half), Gancao (Roasted, one liang), Chenju Pi (Dried Tangerine Peel, pith removed, baked, one fen), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix, fried), Ejiao (Donkey-Hide Gelatin, fried until dry, each half liang).
The above eight herbs are coarsely crushed and sifted. Each dose is one qianbi, boiled in seven parts water until four parts remain. Strain and take warm. No specific timing; adjust dosage according to the child's age and size.
To treat Cold obstruction imbalance with coughing and Phlegm-Saliva in children. Banxia Wan (Pinellia Pill) prescription:
Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, washed seven times in hot water to remove slipperiness, baked), Tinglizi (Descurainiae Semen Lepidii Semen, washed clean, separately ground into paste), Xingren (Apricot Seed, soaked in hot water, peeled, tip removed, double kernel, bran-fried, separately ground into paste, each half liang), Wulingzhi (Trogopterori Faeces, lightly fried), Dansha (Cinnabar, separately ground, each one liang).
The above five herbs are crushed and ground into powder. Use Shengjiang Zhi (Fresh Ginger Juice) to cook Mian Hu (Flour Paste) to form pills the size of Millet Grains. Take five to seven pills at a time. Take after meals with Dan Shengjiang Tang (Light Fresh Ginger Decoction).
To treat coughing in children. Baisanzi Fang (White Powder Formula) prescription:
Gualougen (Trichosanthis Radix), Zhimu (Anemarrhena Rhizome, baked), Beimu (Peeled Fritillaria Bulb), Gancao (Roasted and sliced, equal proportions).
The above four herbs are crushed and sieved into powder. Each dose is half a qianbi, taken with Huang La Mi Yin (Yellow Wax Rice Drink).
To treat coughing in children. Beimu Yin (Fritillaria Drink) prescription:
Beimu (Peeled Fritillaria Bulb, bran-fried), Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba, root nodes removed, boiled to skim foam, baked), Ziwan (Aster Root, peeled of soil), Gancao (Roasted, each one fen), Xingren (Apricot Seed, soaked in hot water, peeled, tip removed, double kernel, fried, three fen), Maimendong (Ophiopogonis Radix, heart removed, baked, half liang).
The above six herbs are coarsely crushed and sifted. For children aged five or six, each dose is one qianbi, boiled in seven parts water until four parts remain. Strain and take warm.
To treat Wind-Cold invading the Lung causing wheezing cough in children. Qingge Wan (Clear Diaphragm Pill) prescription:
Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, soaked in hot water seven times to remove slipperiness, baked), Bai Fan (Alumen, roasted until charred), Qianbaishuang (Lead White Frost), Huashi (Talcum), Tianzhu Huang (Bambusae Caulis in Taenia, equal proportions).
The above five herbs are crushed and ground into fine powder. Form pills with Mian Hu (Flour Paste) the size of Green Beans. Take five pills at a time; adjust dosage according to the child's age and size. Take with Bohe Tang (Mint Decoction).
To treat Heat-cough in children. Xiao Fan San (Niter and Alum Powder) prescription:
Mayaxiao (Horse Tooth Niter), Bai Fan (Alumen, each half jin), Qiandan (Minium, one fen).
The above three herbs are ground together, sealed in a container, and fired until red. Then placed on damp ground overnight. Add Longnao (Borneol) half a qianbi and grind together. Each dose is one zi bi, taken with Gancao Tang (Licorice Decoction); adjust dosage according to age and size.
To treat incessant wheezing in children. Prescription:
Zhuchang (Pig Intestine, one segment), Yujin Mo (Curcuma Powder), Bangfen (Concha Margaritiferae Aquatilis, each one liang).
The above three ingredients: place the latter two inside the intestine, tie both ends, and roast dry over fire. Sieve finely into powder. Each dose is half a qianbi, taken with Shu Shui (Boiled Water) before sleep. Take all three doses at once; it will never recur.
