It is stated in the treatise: The classics record that dysfunction of the six fu-organs leads to stagnation and condensation, resulting in carbuncles. This is because the Ying (Nutritive) and Wei (Defensive) qi of infants are obstructed and stagnant, failing to flow smoothly, reversing within the muscle tissues, causing swelling and nodularity of the muscles. The skin is thin and lustrous, which is the manifestation of a carbuncle. Since the carbuncle cannot be resolved internally, it suppurates, ruptures through the skin, and becomes an ulcer; thus, it is termed "carbuncle-ulcer" (Yong Chuang).
**Rhino Horn Decoction (Xijiao Tang)** for treating infantile carbuncle ulcers:
* Rhinoceros Horn Chips (Xijiao Jie)
* Anemarrhenae Rhizoma (Weirui)
* Cimicifugae Rhizoma (Shengma)
* Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao)
* Ophiopogonis Tuber (Mendong), heart removed and roasted
* Paeoniae Radix Rubra (Chishao)
* Capsellae Fructus (Ji)
* Scrophulariae Radix (Xuanshen)
*(Each 0.5 liang)*
The above eight herbs are coarsely pounded and sieved. For each dose, take one *qianbi* (approx. 3-5g), add half a *zhan* (approx. 100ml) of water, and decoct until three-quarters remains. Add one *yizi* (approx. 1-2g) of Natrii Sulfas (Xiaoshi) powder, continue boiling until melted, filter the dregs, and administer warm. Adjust dosage according to the child's age and size.
**Rhubarb Decoction (Dahuang Tang)** for treating infantile carbuncle ulcers with organ heat obstruction, mental restlessness, and difficulty in urination and defecation:
* Rheum Palmatum Rhizoma et Radix (Dahuang), sliced and stir-fried
* Cimicifugae Rhizoma (Shengma)
* Gardeniae Fructus (Zhizi Ren)
* Natrii Sulfas (Piaoxiao), ground separately
* Aurantii Fructus (Zhiqiao), pith removed and stir-fried with bran
* Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin), sliced *(Note: Text says 'Huang', context implies Huangqin or Huanglian, usually Huangqin in this formula context, but strictly translating character 'Huang' as generic yellow herb if ambiguous, however standard formula uses Huangqin. I will use Scutellariae Radix based on standard formula composition for this condition, or stick to literal 'Yellow Herb' if strict. Given 'Huang' alone often refers to Huangqin or Huanglian, and previous line had Huangqin, here likely Huangqin or Huanglian. Let's assume Huangqin/Scutellariae Radix or Huanglian/Coptidis Rhizoma. In Song texts, 'Huang' often abbreviates Huangqin. I will use Scutellariae Radix)*.
*(Each 0.5 liang)*
The above six herbs are coarsely pounded and sieved. For each dose, take one *qianbi*, add seven-tenths of a *zhan* of water, decoct until four-tenths remains, filter the dregs, and administer warm. Adjust dosage according to the child's age and size.

* Cimicifugae Rhizoma (Shengma)
* Rheum Palmatum Rhizoma et Radix (Dahuang), sliced and stir-fried
* Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin), sliced *(Note: Text lists 'Huang' again. Likely Scutellariae Radix)*
* Forsythiae Fructum (Lianqiao)
* Isatidis Folium (Lanye)
* Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancaomu)
* Costi Radix (Muxiang)
* Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma (Chuanxiong)
* Rhinoceros Horn Chips (Xijiao Jie)
