The Weiwang (Stomach Well) acupoint primarily treats Zhong'e (a critical condition caused by sudden exposure to noxious miasma). The *Jia Yi Jing* states: It is also named Taicang, and is the Mu-Alarm point of the Stomach. Located one cun below the Shangwan (Conception Vessel 13) acupoint, it lies at the midpoint between the xiphoid process and the umbilicus. It is where the Qi generated from the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian, Hand-Shaoyang Sanjiao Meridian, and Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian converge, and is an intersection with the Ren Mai (Conception Vessel). Moxibustion of three moxa cones is appropriate. Additionally, the *Qianjin Yi Fang* records that for treating Zhong'e leading to a desire to die and unconsciousness, one may moxa the transverse crease of the big toe, with the number of moxa cones corresponding to the patient's age, applied equally on both sides.
For sudden death due to Zhong'e, moxa the Jiazhong (Acupoint in the hair tuft near the nail of the big toe) on both big toes, seven cones; this is the method of Hua Tuo, though some sources suggest thirty-seven cones. Additionally, moxa the center of the umbilicus with one hundred cones.
If the patient exhibits sudden death with eyes open and tongue protruding, moxa the points behind the nails of both hands and feet, totaling fourteen cones.
If the patient exhibits sudden death with flaccid limbs unable to be controlled and incontinence of urine and feces, moxa one cun below the heart (Juequan, CV 14), three cun above the umbilicus (Jianli, CV 11), and four cun below the umbilicus (Guanyuan, CV 4), each with one hundred cones.
For those who die suddenly due to Ke Wu (sudden invasion by external pathogens or spiritual shock), moxa the Renzhong (Governing Vessel 26) acupoint three cones, also known as Guike Ting; this method also treats Shi Jue (corpse-like coma, said to be thirty cones in some texts). Furthermore, insert a bamboo tube horizontally into the mouth and break it, positioning the upper end against the area below the heart, and moxa the lower end five cones. One may also needle the Neiguan (Pericardium 6) or Jianshi (Pericardium 5) acupoint, retaining the needle for over one hundred breaths. Additionally, moxa the points under the nails of all ten fingers, three cones each. Other treatments are the same as the methods above (the *Beiji Fang* records this for treating sudden death with eyes open and body opisthotonos). One may also moxa the Jianjing (Gallbladder 21) acupoint one hundred cones, then moxa the Jianshi (Pericardium 5) acupoint seven cones, and finally moxa the Jueque (Conception Vessel 14) acupoint one hundred cones.
For patients with Shi Jue, moxa the Lidui (Stomach 45) acupoints bilaterally. The *Jia Yi Jing* states: These points are located at the distal ends of the second toes, approximately the width of a leek leaf away from the nail corner, where the Qi of the Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian emerges. Moxa three cones per point, with moxa cones sized like wheat grains. Additionally, moxa one cun below the scrotum, one hundred cones; for women, moxa the midpoint between the two breasts. Another method suggests scratching the Renzhong acupoint with fingernails, which is effective. One may also needle the Renzhong acupoint deeply until the teeth, causing immediate revival. Alternatively, measure the circumference of the arm/wrist with a rope (left for men, right for women), pass the rope from above the Dazhui (Governing Vessel 14) acupoint down along the spine, and moxa the ends of the rope fifty cones; this is a secret method of Bian Que. One may also needle the Baihui (Governing Vessel 20) acupoint, located five cun above the anterior hairline directly above the nose, inserting three fen and using the tonification method. One may also needle the fleshy side under the nail of the big toe, three fen from the nail edge. Additionally, moxa the Shanzhong (Conception Vessel 17) acupoint, fourteen cones.
For sudden Zhong'e causing Fei Shi Dun Zhu (a wandering pestilence or migratory pain), accompanied by fullness in the chest and hypochondrium, the Pangting acupoint is indicated. Located in the fourth intercostal space under the axilla, at the same level as the nipple, two cun posterior to the nipple in the depression, commonly known as Zhushi. Take the point with the axilla raised. Insert the needle five fen and moxa fifty cones. If caused by evil wind-pathogens leading to Dun Shi (pathogens lurking within), with blood stasis inside, the Jiuyu Zhongfu acupoint should be selected, located three cun below the Pangting and Zhushi points. Insert the needle five fen and moxa thirty cones.
