论曰人因风热痰饮，攻渍腑脏，阴阳不和，肝气蕴积，热毒之气，上冲于目，使目睛疼
痛，甚者突出，治宜先服寒药，以泻肝气，然后调治，勿求卒效，惟渐治之，仍须微针，引

治眼睛突起。桔梗汤方

麦冬茺蔚饮方：
麦门冬（去心焙干）、茺蔚子（各二两）、桔梗（切碎炒制）、防风（去除叉枝）、玄参、知母（焙干，各一两）、黄芩（去除黑心部分）、麦门冬（去心焙干，各一两半）。注：原文此处麦门冬重复列出且剂量有异，依原文记录为八味药。

治疗风毒冲击眼部引起红肿，眼球欲突出的洗眼黄连汤方：
黄连（去除须根）、秦皮（去除粗糙外皮）、黄柏（去除粗糙外皮，各一两）、蕤仁（三分）、干枣（十枚，去核）。
以上五味药。切碎如麻豆大小拌匀，每次取一两半，加水四盏，煎煮至二盏半，滤去药渣，稍加热后蘸取清洗眼部，冷则停止。
Discussion: When a person is affected by wind-heat, phlegm-fluids (Phlegm and Fluid Retention), these pathogens attack the fu-organs and zang-organs, causing an imbalance of Yin and Yang. Treatment for protruding eyes: Jiegeng Tang (Platycodon Decoction)
Jiegeng Radix (Crushed and stir-fried), Dahuang Radix et Rhizoma (Crushed and stir-fried), Xuanshen Radix, Shaoyao Radix, Fangfeng Radix (Devoid of forked roots), Huangqin Cortex (Devoid of black heart, each 1 liang), Chongweizi Fructus Viticis Negundo (2 liang).
The above seven ingredients are coarsely crushed and sifted. Take 5 qianbi per dose, add 1.5 sheng of water, decoct until 0.7 sheng remains, filter out the dregs, and add Banxia powder (Mangxiao Natrii Sulfas) half a qianbi. Take warm after meals and before bedtime. This treats redness and pain caused by wind-heat attacking the eyes, where the eyeballs desire to protrude.
Maidong Chongwei Yin (Ophiopogon and Viticis Decoction):
Maimendong Tuber (Heart removed, baked), Chongweizi Fructus Viticis Negundo (each 2 liang), Jiegeng Radix (Crushed and stir-fried), Fangfeng Radix (Devoid of forked roots), Xuanshen Radix, Zhimu Cortex (Baked, each 1 liang), Huangqin Cortex (Devoid of black heart), Maimendong Tuber (Heart removed, baked, each 1.5 liang). The above three ingredients are mixed and ground into powder. Mix with human milk and apply to the eyes. Three times daily. Another prescription uses half the amount of Ganjiang Rhizoma and Swallow Droppings. If Dansha Mineral is unavailable, it may be omitted.
Treatment for wind-toxicity rushing to the eyes causing redness and swelling, with eyeballs desiring to protrude: Xieyan Huanglian Tang (Eye-washing Coptis Decoction):
Huanglian Rhizoma (Devoid of mustache), Qinpi Cortex (Devoid of rough bark), Huangbai Cortex (Devoid of rough bark, each 1 liang), Ruiren Seed (3 fen), Ganzao Fructus Jujubae (10 pieces, pitted).
The above five ingredients are chopped like hemp or beans and mixed evenly. Take 1.5 liang per use, add 4 sheng of water, decoct until 2.5 sheng remains, filter out the dregs, and wash the eyes while slightly warm. Stop if it becomes cold.
Treatment for eyes suddenly protruding one or two cun: Lengshui Guan Fang (Cold Water Irrigation Method):
Immediately take cold water and irrigate the eyes, changing the water frequently. Within a short time, the eyeballs should retract naturally.
