论曰目赤肿痛者，以心肺壅滞，积热不散，风邪毒瓦斯，干于足厥阴之经，风热交作，上
攻于目及两睑间，故其色赤肿痛，宜祛风邪，蠲热气，疏沦壅滞。
治肝脏风毒上冲，眼赤肿痛难开，头额偏疼。羚羊角饮方

上七味。捣罗为末，以鸡子清和如膏，贴眼上下睑，干易之，不计度数。
治目赤肿痛。地黄膏方
生地黄 粟米饭淀（极酸者）
上二味等分，烂研相和如膏，匀摊于薄纱绢上，方圆可二寸，用贴熨眼，干热即换。
治目赤肿痛。秦皮汤方

上三味锉碎，以水三升，煮取一升半，滤过微热淋洗，不计度数。
治目赤侵黑睛，热毒眼。生犀饮方

上五味。用水七合，银石器内，煎取二合，绵滤去滓，重汤内暖，令如人体，以铜箸点
眼中，夜卧再用。
治热毒攻眼，小 偏赤。黄芩汤方

上五味。锉如麻豆，每服五钱匕，水一盏半，煎至一盏，入地黄汁半合，芒硝一钱匕，
再煎取沸，去滓，食后良久，分温二服。
治积热不散，目赤肿痛，或生障翳。泻肝汤方

去滓食后温服，忌炙爆热面。
治眼暴赤，热上冲，疼痛赤肿生翳。仙灵脾丸
仙灵脾（一两） 甘菊花（一两） 黄芩（一两） 车前子（一两） 石膏（一两细研

上九味。捣罗为细末，炼蜜和捣三二百杵，丸如梧桐子大，食后温水下二十丸。
治眼赤肿痛。洗眼黄连散方

治眼热毒赤肿所攻眉骨，及头痛壮热不止。贴眼大黄饼子方
大黄（一两三分） 大麦面（半合） 鸡子（五枚去黄）
上三味。捣罗二味为末，以鸡子白和作饼子，敷肿上，干即易之。
治眼痛赤微肿， 烂多眵。洗眼三黄汤方
黄柏（去粗皮） 黄连（去须各一两半） 栀子仁（七枚）
上三味。 咀如麻豆大，以淡浆水二升，煎取六合，去滓微温，少少洗眼。
治目赤肿痛，烦热昏暗，并障翳等。黄连点眼方
黄连（宣州者去须一分捣末） 马牙硝（研一钱） 蜜（绵滤过半匙与上二味和匀）
上三味。取消梨一颗，割顶作盖，去核如瓮子，将诸药内于梨中，以盖子复之，冬月半
月，夏月一日，倾出以绵绞去滓，以汁点之。
明目凉脑。青莲膏
莲子草（七月七日拣锉捣绞取汁一斗煎取一升） 生麻油（一升） 胡桐泪（一两绵裹）
上三味。以水煎取一升二合，去胡桐泪瓷器盛，七日后用，每夜以铜箸点鼻中，每孔三
点，去枕仰头卧良久，如此一月，目日明，发生脑凉。
治目赤肿痛。点眼黄连散方
黄连（末半分） 鸡子（一枚去黄取白）
上二味。先将黄连末研极细，和鸡子白却内壳中，纸固塞勿令尘秽入，挂沟中浸二日，
不令没，时取点眼。
治热毒风攻眼赤痛，并睑浮肿。熨眼方
黑豆（拣择一升）
上一味，分作十处，将软绢帛各裹定，于沸汤内蘸过，乘热更互熨之，每一分三度入汤
用，豆尽当愈。
治积年风赤眼方
上取长明灯盏内油少许，以铜钱一文，于乳钵内，细细磨之，令油凝钵底，复却以艾烟
熏一夜，每以铜箸点之。
治目赤，堆眵肿痛。洗眼方
桑条（十二月者烧灰一斤） 童子小便（一斗）
上二味。取灰安瓷器中，用童子小便浸，候干汽尽可丸，即丸如钱大，捏为饼子。浓三
二分曝干，每用一饼子，热汤化，澄清洗眼，根据下项日辰洗之，正月二月初八日、三月四月
初六日、五月五日、六月初二日、七月七日、八月二十日、九月十月十二日、十一月初二日
、十二月晦日。
治赤目。栀子汤方
上取山栀子七枚，钻透入 灰火煨熟，以水一升半，煎至八合，去滓入大黄末三钱匕，
搅匀，食后旋旋温服。
治热毒赤眼方
炒盐令黄，入熔蜡捏作饼子，点眼上瘥。
治热毒乘肝，上冲于目，推眵赤肿，碜涩疼痛。黄连点眼方
黄连（去须捣末半两）
上一味，以生竹筒一个留节，可长六七寸，以水二大合，将黄连末用新绵裹，内竹筒中
，着古铜钱一文，盖筒口，于炊饭甑中密盖之，待下 即取出，以绵滤过，候冷内瓶中，每
以铜箸点少许，着目 头，日三度，不可过多，一两日瘥，若治眼暗，不过一七日瘥。
论述说：眼睛发红、肿胀、疼痛，是因为心和肺的气机壅滞，积热无法消散，风邪毒气侵犯足厥阴肝经，风热相互交作，向上攻冲至眼睛及上下眼睑之间，所以出现颜色红赤、肿胀疼痛的症状。适宜采用祛除风邪、清除热气、疏通化解壅滞的治疗方法。
治疗肝脏风毒上冲，导致眼睛红赤肿痛难以睁开，头额部偏侧疼痛的羚羊角饮方：
羚羊角（锉成屑一两）、细辛（去除苗叶一分）、甘菊花、葳蕤、川芎、人参（各三分）、赤芍药、黄芩（去除黑心部分）、栀子仁、防风（去除枝叉）、甘草（生用，各半两）。
以上十一味药。粗捣碎并筛过，每次服用三钱匕，用水一盏，煎煮至六分，滤去药渣，饭后温服。
治疗红眼，以及眼球红肿疼痛，无法入睡的祛毒散方：
射干、山栀子（去皮）、当归（去苗切段）、防己、龙胆草、黄芩（去除黑心部分）、川芎、黄连（去除须根）、石决明（各一两）。
以上九味药。捣碎过罗制成散剂，每次服用一钱匕，用温酒调服，饭后服用；用茶调服也可以。
治疗肝经邪热攻冲眼睛，导致眼睛红涩肿痛，畏光羞明的的大黄汤方：
大黄（锉碎炒制）、山栀子（去皮）、黄连（去除须根）、龙胆草、郁金、黄柏（各半两）、甘草（一两）。
以上七味药。粗捣碎并筛过，每次服用三钱匕，用水一盏，加入竹叶七片，共同煎煮至六分，滤去药渣放温，饭后服用。
治疗眼睛突然红赤肿痛的竹叶汤方：
柴胡（去苗）、蛇衔草（去根，各二两）、黄连（去须）、细辛（去苗叶，各一两）。
以上四味药。粗捣碎并筛过，每次服用五钱匕，用水一盏半，加入竹叶七片，煎取七分，滤去药渣投入芒硝“一字”量，饭后温服，如果腹泻则去掉芒硝。
治疗眼睛红肿疼痛的葳蕤汤方：
葳蕤（去皮）、桔梗（炒制）、羚羊角（锉屑）、木通（锉碎）、黄芩（去黑心）、黄芪（锉碎，各三分）、麦门冬（去心焙干一两）。
以上七味药。粗捣碎并筛过，每次服用五钱匕，用水一盏半，煎取七分，滤去药渣投入芒硝“一字”量，空腹时放温服用，饭后再服一次，如果大便通畅则去掉芒硝。
治疗眼睛红赤肿痛的的前胡汤方：
前胡（去芦头二两）、芍药、青葙子、决明子（微炒）、细辛（去苗叶）、车前子、栀子仁（各一两）。
以上七味药。粗捣碎并筛过，每次服用五钱匕，用水一盏半，加入竹叶七片，煎取八分，滤去药渣投入芒硝“一字”量，饭后放温，临睡前再服一次，以大便通畅为度，一旦通畅即去掉芒硝。
治疗眼睛红肿疼痛的半夏汤方：
半夏（用热水洗七遍去除滑腻感）、细辛（去苗叶，各一两）、枳壳（去瓤麸炒至黄色）、前胡（去芦头，各二两）、乌梅肉（细切半两）。
以上五味药。粗捣碎并筛过，每次服用五钱匕，用水一盏半，加入生姜一块枣大小拍碎，共同煎取七分，滤去药渣，饭后服用，临睡前再服一次。
治疗眼睛红赤肿痛的的车前子散方：
车前子、决明子（微炒）、菥蓂子、枳壳（去瓤麸炒，各一两）。
以上四味药。捣碎过罗制成散剂，每次服用二钱匕，用温水调服，饭后服用，临睡前再服一次。
治疗眼睛红痛，以及干涩肿胀的通隔荠汤方：
荠苨（四两）、石膏、地骨皮、甘草（微炙，各二两）、葛根（锉碎三两）、黄芩（去黑心一两）。
以上六味药。粗捣碎并筛过，每次服用三钱匕，用水一盏，加入竹叶七片，煎煮至六分，滤去药渣放温，饭后服用，临睡前再服一次。
治疗眼睛红赤肿痛的的大黄汤方：
大黄（锉碎炒至香）、细辛（去苗叶）、甘草（炙制）、黄芩（去黑心，各一两）、芍药（二两）。
以上五味药。粗捣碎并筛过，每次服用五钱匕，用水一盏半，煎取七分，滤去药渣，饭后服用，临睡前再服一次。
治疗眼睛红赤肿痛的甘草汤方：
甘草（炙制）、甘竹茹（细切，各一两）、芦根（锉碎二两）、新粟米（三合）。
以上四味药。粗捣碎并筛过，每次服用五钱匕，用水一盏半，煎取七分，滤去药渣，饭后服用，临睡前再服一次。
治疗风热导致面部红赤肿痛的的地肤子散方：
地肤子（二升焙干后捣末）、生地黄（十斤）。
以上两味药。捣碎地黄绞取汁液，混合地肤子末，在阳光下晒至干燥，再次捣碎过罗制成散剂，每次服用三钱匕，空腹时用酒调服，临睡前再服一次。
治疗眼睛肿胀红痛的防风丸方：
防风（去叉）、决明子、人参、车前子（各一两半）、黄连（去须）、菊花、槐实（炒制）、蓝实（各一两）。
以上八味药。捣碎过罗制成粉末，炼蜜和丸，如梧桐子大小，每次饭后服用，用温浆水送下二十丸，临睡前再服一次，逐渐增加至三十丸。
治疗眼睛肿胀红痛的石决明丸方：
石决明（刮削干净洗净）、地肤子、黄连（去须）、青葙子、大黄（锉碎炒制）、茺蔚子（各一两）、皂荚（去除黑皮涂酥炙烤）、人参、黄芩（去黑心）、甘草（炙制，各三分）。
以上十味药。捣碎过罗制成粉末，炼蜜为丸，如梧桐子大小，每次饭后服用，用淡浆水送下三十丸，临睡前再服一次。
治疗眼睛红赤热痛的秦皮汤方：
秦皮、蕤仁（各一两半）、甘草（炙制）、细辛（去苗叶，各一两）、栀子（七枚去皮）、苦竹叶（五十片）、青盐（一分）。
以上七味药。锉碎，用淡浆水四升，煎取二升，滤去药渣，每次取一合，微温后清洗眼睛，避风片刻。
治疗眼睛红赤肿痛，有翳膜遮挡视力，时常流出热泪的方剂：
杏仁（二十一枚去皮，在口中细细咀嚼）、乳香（一块皂子大小）、硼砂（一块皂子大小）、轻粉（炒制一钱匕）。
以上四味药。随时入口中细细咀嚼，等到满口生津，吐在瓷碗中，放在灰火中熬制，让四周都沸腾，然后用熟绢过滤到另一个碗中，加入生龙脑（冰片）一块皂子大小，细细研磨后再过滤，用小瓷瓶储存，遇到眼睛昏花红赤流泪干涩生翳时，频繁用银或铜筷蘸取点入眼中。
治疗眼睛红肿疼痛的大黄膏方：
大黄（三两）、玄参、芒硝、黄芩（去心）、白蔹、木香、射干（各二两）。
以上七味药。捣碎过罗制成粉末，用鸡蛋清调和如膏状，贴敷于眼睛上下眼睑，干了就更换，不限次数。
治疗眼睛红赤肿痛的地黄膏方：
生地黄、粟米饭淀（极酸的）。
以上两味药等分，烂研混合如膏状，均匀摊在薄纱绢上，方圆约二寸，用来贴敷熨烫眼睛，干了发热就更换。
治疗眼睛红赤肿痛的秦皮汤方：
秦皮（一两）、黄连（去须，半两）、苦竹叶（三握）。
以上三味药。锉碎，用水三升，煮取一升半，过滤后微热淋洗，不限次数。
治疗眼睛红赤侵入黑睛，热毒眼的生犀饮方：
犀角（镑片）、黄芩（去黑心）、葳蕤、防风（去叉）、地肤子、羚羊角（镑片）、甘草（炙制锉碎，各一两）、麦门冬（去心焙干）、黄连（去须，各一两半）。
以上九味药。锉如麻豆大小，每次服用三钱匕，用水一盏，煎取七分，滤去药渣加入马牙硝半钱匕，饭后温服。
治疗红眼干涩疼痛，难以忍受的点服方：
诃子核中仁（十粒用浆水研成粉）、蛇蜕皮（三寸许洗净细锉）、黄连（去须细锉）、淡竹叶（细锉，各一分）、青州枣（去核三枚）。
以上五味药。用水七合，在银石器内，煎取二合，用绵布过滤去渣，隔水加热，使其温度接近人体体温，用铜筷蘸取点入眼中，夜间睡觉时再用一次。
治疗热毒攻眼，小眦偏红的黄芩汤方：
黄芩（去黑心）、枳壳（去瓤麸炒，各一两）、葳蕤、木通、甘草（炙制，各一两半）。
以上五味药。锉如麻豆大小，每次服用五钱匕，用水一盏半，煎至一盏，加入地黄汁半合，芒硝一钱匕，再次煎至沸腾，滤去药渣，饭后良久，分两次温服。
治疗积热不散，眼睛红赤肿痛，或者生成障翳的泻肝汤方：
柴胡（去苗）、芍药、决明子（微炒）、青葙子、桂枝（去粗皮）、升麻（各二两）、栀子仁（一两）。
以上七味药。粗捣碎并筛过，每次服用五钱匕，用水一盏半，加入竹叶七片，煎取七分，滤去药渣加入芒硝半钱匕，放温饭后服用，以大便通畅为度。
治疗热毒攻眼，黑睛全部发红的黄汤方：
黄芪（锉碎）、芍药、知母、升麻、犀角（镑片，各一两半）、苦竹叶（五十片）。
以上六味药。锉如麻豆大小，每次服用五钱匕，用水一盏半，煎至一盏，加入芒硝一钱匕，再次煎至沸腾，滤去药渣饭后温服，忌食油炸烧烤面食。
治疗眼睛突然红赤，热气上冲，疼痛红赤肿胀生翳的仙灵脾丸：
仙灵脾（淫羊藿，一两）、甘菊花（一两）、黄芩（一两）、车前子（一两）、石膏（一两细研水飞）、玄参（一两）、决明子（一两）、蛇蜕皮（一分烧成灰）、羚羊角屑（一两）。
以上九味药。捣碎过罗成细末，炼蜜和捣三二百杵，丸如梧桐子大小，饭后温水送下二十丸。
治疗眼睛红赤肿痛的洗眼黄连散方：
黄连（一两去须）、蕤仁（一两去皮）、甘草（一两半）、细辛（一两）、栀子仁（一两）、苦竹叶（二握）、生干地黄（一两）、青盐（一分）。
以上八味药。捣碎过罗制成散剂，用水三升，煎取一升，滤去药渣稍热，细细清洗眼睛，不限时间次数，冷了就用热的方法暖一下再用。
治疗眼睛热毒红肿攻冲眉骨，以及头痛壮热不止的贴眼大黄饼子方：
大黄（一两三分）、大麦面（半合）、鸡蛋（五枚去黄）。
以上三味药。将大黄和大麦面捣碎过罗成末，用鸡蛋清调和做成饼子，敷在肿胀处，干了就更换。
治疗眼睛痛红微肿，眵多腐烂的洗眼三黄汤方：
黄柏（去粗皮）、黄连（去须，各一两半）、栀子仁（七枚）。
以上三味药。锉如麻豆大小，用淡浆水二升，煎取六合，滤去药渣微温，少量多次清洗眼睛。
治疗眼睛红赤肿痛，烦热昏暗，以及障翳等的黄连点眼方：
黄连（宣州产的去须一分捣末）、马牙硝（研一钱）、蜜（绵滤过半匙与上述两味混合均匀）。
以上三味药。取一颗梨，割开顶部做盖，去核如瓮状，将诸药放入梨中，盖上盖子，冬天半月，夏天一天，倒出后用绵布绞去药渣，用汁液点眼。
明目凉脑的青莲膏：
莲子草（七月七日拣选锉碎捣绞取汁一斗，煎取一升）、生麻油（一升）、胡桐泪（一两绵裹）。
以上三味药。用水煎取一升二合，去掉胡桐泪，用瓷器盛装，七日后使用，每晚用铜筷点入鼻中，每孔三点，去掉枕头仰头躺很久，如此坚持一个月，眼睛日渐明亮，头脑感觉清凉。
治疗眼睛红赤肿痛的点眼黄连散方：
黄连（末半分）、鸡蛋（一枚去黄取白）。
以上两味药。先将黄连末研极细，和鸡蛋清一起放回蛋壳中，用纸密封堵塞防止灰尘进入，挂在屋檐沟中浸泡两天，不要没入水中，不时取出点眼。
治疗热毒风攻眼红痛，以及眼睑浮肿的熨眼方：
黑豆（拣择一升）。
以上一味药，分成十份，用软绢帛分别包裹，在沸水中蘸过，趁热交替熨烫，每一份三次入汤使用，豆子用完病应当痊愈。
治疗多年风赤眼的方剂：
上面取长明灯盏内的油少许，用铜钱一文，在乳钵内细细磨之，让油凝结在钵底，然后再用艾烟熏一夜，每次用铜筷蘸取点眼。
治疗眼睛红，眵多肿痛的洗眼方：
桑条（十二月采集的烧灰一斤）、童子小便（一斗）。
以上两味药。取灰放在瓷器中，用童子小便浸泡，等到干汽尽可丸，就丸如铜钱大，捏成饼子。浓三分之二晒干，每次用一饼子，热汤化开，澄清后清洗眼睛，根据以下日期清洗：正月初二、二月初八、三四月月初六、五月初五、六月初二、七月初七、八月二十、九月十月十二、十一月初二、十二月晦日。
治疗红眼的栀子汤方：
上面取山栀子七枚，钻透放入灰火中煨熟，用水一升半，煎至八合，滤去药渣加入大黄末三钱匕，搅匀，饭后慢慢温服。
治疗热毒赤眼的方剂：
炒盐令其变黄，加入熔化的蜡捏成饼子，点眼上即可痊愈。
治疗热毒乘肝，上冲于目，推挤眵屎红肿，碜涩疼痛的黄连点眼方：
黄连（去须捣末半两）。
以上一味药，取一个生竹筒留节，长约六七寸，用水两大合，将黄连末用新绵包裹，放入竹筒中，放入古铜钱一文，盖住筒口，在蒸饭的甑中密闭蒸煮，待蒸汽冒出即取出，用绵布过滤，冷却后装入瓶中，每次用铜筷蘸取少许，点入眼角，每天三次，不可过多，一两天痊愈，如果是治疗眼睛昏暗，不超过七天痊愈。

Ingredients: Lingyangjiao (Antelope Horn) [1 liang, powdered], Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma) [1 qian, stems and leaves removed], Ganjuhua (Chrysanthemi Flos), Weirui (Polygonati Rhizoma), Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma) [each 3 qian], Chi Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix) [black heart removed], Zhizi Ren (Gardeniae Fructus), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix) [branches removed], Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, raw) [each 0.5 liang].
Preparation: Coarsely crush and sieve the above eleven ingredients. Take 3 qianbi per dose, decoct with one zhan of water until reduced to 0.6 zhan, remove dregs, and take warm after meals.
**Qudu San Powder** treats red eyes, as well as eyeball redness, swelling, and pain preventing sleep.
Ingredients: Shegan (Belamcandae Rhizoma), Shanzhizi (Gardeniae Fructus, peeled), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, stems removed and sliced), Fangji (Stephaniae Tetrandrae Radix), Longdan (Gentianae Radix), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, black heart removed), Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, whiskers removed), Shijueming (Haliotidis Concha) [each 1 liang].
Preparation: Crush and sieve the above nine ingredients into a powder. Take 1 qianbi per dose, mix with warm wine and ingest after meals; mixing with tea is also acceptable.
**Dahuang Tang Decoction** treats evil heat from the Liver Meridian attacking the eyes, causing redness, dryness, swelling, pain, photophobia, and aversion to light.
Ingredients: Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, crushed and stir-fried), Shanzhizi (Gardeniae Fructus, peeled), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, whiskers removed), Longdan (Gentianae Radix), Yujin (Curcumae Radix), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex) [each 0.5 liang], Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) [1 liang].
Preparation: Coarsely crush and sieve the above seven ingredients. Take 3 qianbi per dose, add seven slices of Zhu Ye (Bambusae Folium) to one zhan of water, decoct together until reduced to 0.6 zhan, remove dregs, let cool to warm, and take after meals.
**Zhuye Tang Decoction** treats sudden eye redness, swelling, and pain.
Ingredients: Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix, stems removed), She xian (Patriniae Herba, roots removed) [each 2 liang], Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, whiskers removed), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, stems and leaves removed) [each 1 liang].
Preparation: Coarsely crush and sieve the above four ingredients. Take 5 qianbi per dose, add seven slices of Zhu Ye (Bambusae Folium) to 1.5 zhan of water, decoct until 0.7 zhan remains, remove dregs, add Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas) "yi zi" amount, and take warm after meals. If diarrhea occurs, discontinue use of Mangxiao.
**Weirui Tang Decoction** treats eye redness, swelling, and pain.
Ingredients: Weirui (Polygonati Rhizoma, peeled), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix, stir-fried), Lingyangjiao (Antelope Horn, powdered), Mutong (Akebiae Caulis, crushed), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, black heart removed), Huangqi (Astragali Radix, crushed) [each 3 qian], Maimendong (Ophiopogonis Radix, hearts removed and dried) [1 liang].
Preparation: Coarsely crush and sieve the above seven ingredients. Take 5 qianbi per dose, decoct with 1.5 zhan of water until 0.7 zhan remains, remove dregs, add Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas) "yi zi" amount, take warm on an empty stomach, and take again after meals. Discontinue Mangxiao if bowel movement becomes loose.
**Qianhu Tang Decoction** treats eye redness, swelling, and pain.
Ingredients: Qianhu (Peucedani Radix, rhizome removed, 2 liang), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix), Qingxiangzi (Celosiae Semen), Juemingzi (Cassiae Semen, lightly stir-fried), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, stems and leaves removed), Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen), Zhizi Ren (Gardeniae Fructus) [each 1 liang].
Preparation: Coarsely crush and sieve the above seven ingredients. Take 5 qianbi per dose, add seven slices of Zhu Ye (Bambusae Folium) to 1.5 zhan of water, decoct until 0.8 zhan remains, remove dregs, add Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas) "yi zi" amount, take warm after meals, and take again before bed. Stop when bowel movement is achieved, and discontinue Mangxiao once achieved.
**Banxia Tang Decoction** treats eye redness, swelling, and pain.
Ingredients: Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, washed seven times in hot water to remove slipperiness), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, stems and leaves removed) [each 1 liang], Zhiqiao (Aurantii Fructus, pith removed and stir-fried with bran until yellow), Qianhu (Peucedani Radix, rhizome removed) [each 2 liang], Wumei Rou (Mume Fructus Flesh, finely cut) [0.5 liang].
Preparation: Coarsely crush and sieve the above five ingredients. Take 5 qianbi per dose, add ginger piece size of a jujube (crushed) to 1.5 zhan of water, decoct until 0.7 zhan remains, remove dregs, take after meals, and take again before bed.
**Cheqianzi San Powder** treats eye redness, swelling, and pain.
Ingredients: Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen), Juemingzi (Cassiae Semen, lightly stir-fried), Ximingzi (Lepidii Semen), Zhiqiao (Aurantii Fructus, pith removed and stir-fried with bran) [each 1 liang].
Preparation: Crush and sieve the above four ingredients into a powder. Take 2 qianbi per dose, mix with warm water and ingest after meals, and take again before bed.
**Tongge Qi Tang Decoction** treats eye redness, pain, dryness, and swelling.
Ingredients: Qini (Adenophorae Radix) [4 liang], Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum), Digupi (Lyceii Cortex), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, lightly roasted) [each 2 liang], Gegen (Puerariae Lobatae Radix, crushed) [3 liang], Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, black heart removed) [1 liang].

**Difuzi San Powder** treats wind-heat causing facial redness, swelling, and pain.
Ingredients: Difuzi (Kochiae Fructus, roasted for two sheng then powdered), Sheng Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix) [10 jin].
Preparation: Crush the Sheng Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix) to extract juice, mix with Difuzi (Kochiae Fructus) powder, sun-dry until dry, crush and sieve again. Take 3 qianbi per dose, mix with wine on an empty stomach, and take again before bed.
**Fangfeng Wan Pills** treat eye swelling, redness, and pain.
Ingredients: Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, branches removed), Juemingzi (Cassiae Semen), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen) [each 1.5 liang], Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, whiskers removed), Juhua (Chrysanthemi Flos), Huaishi (Sophorae Tonkinensis Fructus, stir-fried), Lanshi (Indigo Naturalis source fruit) [each 1 liang].
Preparation: Crush and sieve the above eight ingredients into powder, mix with refined honey to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 20 pills after meals with warm Jiangshui (fermented grain drink), and take again before bed, gradually increasing to 30 pills.
**Shijueming Wan Pills** treat eye swelling, redness, and pain.
Ingredients: Shijueming (Haliotidis Concha, scraped clean and washed), Difuzi (Kochiae Fructus), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, whiskers removed), Qingxiangzi (Celosiae Semen), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, crushed and stir-fried), Chongweizi (Leonuri Fructus) [each 1 liang], Zhaojia (Gleditsiae Sinensis Spina, black skin removed,酥-roasted), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, black heart removed), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, roasted) [each 3 qian].
Preparation: Crush and sieve the above ten ingredients into powder, mix with refined honey to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 30 pills after meals with light Jiangshui (fermented grain drink), and take again before bed.
**Qinpi Tang Decoction** treats eye redness, swelling, heat, and pain.
Ingredients: Qinpi (Fraxini Cortex), Ruiren (Pruni Armeniacae Semen) [each 1.5 liang], Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, roasted), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, stems and leaves removed) [each 1 liang], Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructus, peeled, 7 fruits), Ku Zhuye (Bambusae Folium, bitter) [50 leaves], Qingyan (Halitum) [1 qian].
Preparation: Crush the above seven ingredients, decoct with 4 sheng of light Jiangshui (fermented grain drink) until reduced to 2 sheng, remove dregs. Use 1 ge per application, warm slightly, and wash the eyes, avoiding wind for a short time.
**Formula for Eye Redness, Swelling, Pain, Membrane Obstruction, and Tears:**
Ingredients: Xingren (Armeniacae Semen Amarum, 21 fruits, peeled and chewed finely in mouth), Ruxiang (Olibanum, size of soap bean), Pengsha (Borax, size of soap bean), Qingfen (Calomelas, stir-fried 1 qianbi).
Preparation: Chew all four ingredients finely in the mouth until saliva is abundant, spit into a porcelain cup, boil over ash fire until bubbling on all sides. Filter through cooked silk into another cup, add Sheng Longnao (Camphora) size of a soap bean, grind finely, filter again, store in small porcelain bottle. For blurry, red, tearing, dry eyes with membrane obstruction, frequently apply with silver or copper chopsticks.
**Dahuang Gao Ointment** treats eye redness, swelling, and pain.
Ingredients: Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) [3 liang], Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix), Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, heart removed), Bailian (Polemonii Radix), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Shegan (Belamcandae Rhizoma) [each 2 liang].
Preparation: Crush and sieve the above seven ingredients into powder, mix with egg white (Jizi Qing) to form ointment. Apply to upper and lower eyelids, replace when dry, frequency unlimited.
**Dihuang Gao Ointment** treats eye redness, swelling, and pain.
Ingredients: Sheng Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix), Sumi Fan Dian (Starch from millet rice, very sour).
Preparation: Mix equal parts, mash thoroughly until like paste, spread evenly on thin gauze, square/circle approx. 2 cun. Apply to compress eyes, replace when dry/hot.
**Qinpi Tang Decoction** treats eye redness, swelling, and pain.
Ingredients: Qinpi (Fraxini Cortex) [1 liang], Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, whiskers removed, 0.5 liang), Ku Zhuye (Bambusae Folium, bitter, three handfuls).
Preparation: Crush the above three ingredients, decoct with 3 sheng of water until 1.5 sheng remains, filter, keep slightly hot, and wash/rinse eyes, frequency unlimited.
**Shengxi Yin Decoction** treats eye redness invading the cornea (Heijing), toxic heat eye.
Ingredients: Xijiao (Rhino CeratUs, shaved), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, black heart removed), Weirui (Polygonati Rhizoma), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, branches removed), Difuzi (Kochiae Fructus), Lingyangjiao (Antelope Horn, shaved), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, roasted and crushed) [each 1 liang], Maimendong (Ophiopogonis Radix, hearts removed and dried), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, whiskers removed) [each 1.5 liang].
Preparation: Crush like hemp beans. Take 3 qianbi per dose, decoct with one zhan of water until 0.7 zhan remains, remove dregs, add Mayaxiao (Natrii Sulfas) 0.5 qianbi, take warm after meals.
**Pointing and Ingesting Formula** treats red eye dryness and pain, unbearable.
Ingredients: Hezi Hexing Ren (Terminaliae Fructus Kernel, 10 grains, ground to powder with Jiangshui), Tuipipi (Boa Skin, approx. 3 cun, cleaned and finely crushed), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, whiskers removed, finely crushed), Dan Zhuye (Bambusae Folium, finely crushed) [each 1 qian], Qingzhou Zao (Ziziphus Jujuba, pit removed, 3 fruits).
Preparation: Decoct with 7 he of water in silver/porcelain vessel until 2 he remains, filter through cotton to remove dregs, warm in double boiler to body temperature, apply with copper chopsticks into eyes, repeat at night before sleep.
**Huangqin Tang Decoction** treats toxic heat attacking eyes, slight redness in canthus.
Ingredients: Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, black heart removed), Zhiqiao (Aurantii Fructus, pith removed and stir-fried with bran) [each 1 liang], Weirui (Polygonati Rhizoma), Mutong (Akebiae Caulis), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, roasted) [each 1.5 liang].
Preparation: Crush like hemp beans. Take 5 qianbi per dose, decoct with 1.5 zhan of water until 1 zhan remains, add Ban Dihuang Zhi (Rehmanniae Radix Juice) 0.5 he, Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas) 1 qianbi, boil again, remove dregs, divide into two warm doses, take long after meals.
**Xiegan Tang Decoction** treats accumulated heat not dissipating, eye redness, swelling, pain, or formation of opacity/membrane.

**Huang Tang Decoction** treats toxic heat attacking eyes, complete redness of cornea.
Ingredients: Huangqi (Astragali Radix, crushed), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix), Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Xijiao (Rhino CeratUs, shaved) [each 1.5 liang], Ku Zhuye (Bambusae Folium, bitter) [50 leaves].
Preparation: Crush like hemp beans. Take 5 qianbi per dose, decoct with 1.5 zhan of water until 1 zhan remains, add Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas) 1 qianbi, boil again, remove dregs, take warm after meals. Avoid fried/grilled wheat products.
**Xianlingpi Wan Pills** treat sudden eye redness, heat rushing upward, pain, redness, swelling, and membrane formation.
Ingredients: Xianlingpi (Epimedii Folium) [1 liang], Ganjuhua (Chrysanthemi Flos) [1 liang], Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix) [1 liang], Cheqianzi (Plantaginis Semen) [1 liang], Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum, finely ground and water-floted) [1 liang], Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix) [1 liang], Juemingzi (Cassiae Semen) [1 liang], Tuipipi (Boa Skin, burned to ash, 1 qian), Lingyangjiao Xie (Antelope Horn powder) [1 liang].
Preparation: Crush and sieve into fine powder, mix with refined honey and pound 300-200 times, form pills size of Sophora seeds. Take 20 pills after meals with warm water.
**Xian Yan Huanglian San Powder** treats eye redness, swelling, and pain.
Ingredients: Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, whiskers removed, 1 liang), Ruiren (Pruni Armeniacae Semen, peeled, 1 liang), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 1.5 liang), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, 1 liang), Zhizi Ren (Gardeniae Fructus, 1 liang), Ku Zhuye (Bambusae Folium, bitter, two handfuls), Sheng Gan Dihuang (Rehmanniae Radix, dried, 1 liang), Qingyan (Halitum, 1 qian).
Preparation: Crush and sieve into powder, decoct with 3 sheng of water until 1 sheng remains, remove dregs, keep slightly hot, wash eyes carefully, frequency unlimited. Warm if cold.
**Tie Yan Dahuang Bingzi Paste** treats eye toxic heat redness/swelling attacking brow bone, headache, high fever.
Ingredients: Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) [1 liang 3 fen], Damai Mian (Hordei Farinosus) [0.5 he], Jizi (Galli Ovum, yolks removed, 5 eggs).
Preparation: Pound Dahuang and Damai Mian into powder, mix with egg whites to form paste cakes, apply to swollen area, replace when dry.
**Xi Yan San Huang Tang Decoction** treats eye pain, redness, slight swelling, excessive discharge, erosion.
Ingredients: Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, coarse bark removed), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, whiskers removed) [each 1.5 liang], Zhizi Ren (Gardeniae Fructus, 7 fruits).
Preparation: Crush like hemp beans, decoct with 2 sheng of light Jiangshui (fermented grain drink) until 0.6 he remains, remove dregs, keep slightly warm, wash eyes sparingly.
**Huanglian Dian Yan Fang Pointing Eye Formula** treats eye redness, swelling, pain, irritability, heat, dimness, and opacity.
Ingredients: Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, Xuanzhou origin, whiskers removed, 1 fen, powdered), Mayaxiao (Natrii Sulfas, ground, 1 qian), Mi (Honey, filtered through cotton, half spoon, mixed with above two).
Preparation: Take one pear, cut top as lid, remove core like a pot. Put herbs inside pear, cover with lid. Winter: half month; Summer: one day. Pour out, filter through cotton to remove dregs, use juice to point/drop into eyes.
**Qinglian Gao Ointment** brightens eyes, cools brain.
Ingredients: Lianzicao (Commelinae Herba, selected July 7th, crushed, juice extracted 1 dou, decocted to 1 sheng), Sheng Mayou (Sesami Oleum, 1 sheng), Hutonglei (Tectonae Resina, wrapped in cotton, 1 liang).
Preparation: Decoct with water until 1.2 he remains, remove Hutonglei, store in porcelain. Use after 7 days. Every night, apply with copper chopsticks into nose, 3 drops per nostril. Remove pillow, lie on back for a long time. Do this for one month, eyes will become clearer, brain feels cool.
**Dian Yan Huanglian San Powder** treats eye redness, swelling, and pain.
Ingredients: Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, powdered, 0.5 fen), Jizi (Galli Ovum, yolk removed, white kept, 1 egg).
Preparation: Grind Huanglian powder extremely fine, mix with egg white, put back into eggshell, seal with paper to prevent dust, hang in eaves gutter to soak for two days (do not submerge). Take occasionally to drop into eyes.
**Yan Yan Fang Compressing Eye Formula** treats toxic heat/wind attacking eyes causing redness/pain, eyelid edema.
Ingredients: Heidou (Sojae Semen Nigrum, selected, 1 sheng).
Preparation: Divide into ten portions, wrap each in soft silk. Dip in boiling water, use hot to alternate compressing. Each portion used three times in water. When beans are exhausted, disease should heal.
**Formula for Chronic Wind-Red Eye:**

Use one cake per time, dissolve in hot water, clarify, wash eyes. Wash on specific dates: Jan 2, Feb 8, Mar/Apr 6, May 5, Jun 2, Jul 7, Aug 20, Sep/Oct 12, Nov 2, Dec 30.
**Zhizi Tang Decoction** treats red eyes.
Take 7 Shanzhizi (Gardeniae Fructus), pierce them, roast in ash fire until cooked. Decoct with 1.5 sheng of water until 0.8 he remains, remove dregs, add 3 qianbi of Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) powder, mix well, take warm slowly after meals.

Steam in rice steamer until steam escapes, then remove. Filter through cotton, cool, store in bottle. Apply small amount with copper chopsticks to eye corner, 3 times daily, do not overdose. Heal in 1-2 days. For blurry vision, heal within 7 days.
