Discussion states: Heat located in the Upper Jiao (Upper Burner), due to coughing, develops into Lung Asthenia (Fei Wei). The pulse is rapid at the Cun Kou (Inch position of the radial artery). The symptoms include coughing with turbid saliva and frothy sputum in the mouth; in severe cases, dryness in the throat occurs. This is caused by pathogenic heat steaming the lungs, or it may result from the use of drastic purgatives causing diarrhea, which severely depletes body fluids (Jin Ye).
