This results in symptoms such as chest and epigastric fullness and stuffiness, shortness of breath, and an inability to lie flat. In severe cases, dizziness and vertigo occur, accompanied by frequent nausea and vomiting.

Formula for Costus Pills (Muxiang Wan) to treat phlegm-solidification in the diaphragm, with discomfort in the hypochondrium and diaphragm, dizziness and blurred vision, and loss of appetite:
Costus Root (Mu Xiang, *Aucklandiae Radix*, one fen), Morning Glory Seed (Qian Niu Zi, *Pharbitidis Semen*, stir-fried), Pinellia Ternata (Ban Xia, *Pinelliae Rhizoma*, washed seven times in hot water and dried), Alum (Bai Fan, *Alumen*, boiled until dry, one tael each), Green Tangerina Peel (Qing Pi, *Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride*, soaked in hot water, white pith removed, stir-fried with salt).

Chop the fifteen ingredients to the size of hemp or soybeans. Take five qianbi per dose, add three slices of fresh ginger, boil in one and a half sheng of water until reduced to eight fen. Strain and take warm.
