上三味，慢火煎地黄汁减半，纳牛酥更煎。良久，次下蜜搅匀，候稀稠得所，瓷器盛，

上二味，捣罗为末，炼蜜和丸如梧桐子大，空心临卧冷水下三十丸。

治肾久虚，精气耗惫，腰脚酸重，神色昏黯，耳鸣焦枯，阳道萎弱。此由精少，欲事过
度，益精。鹿茸散方
鹿茸（去毛酥炙）
上一味，捣罗为散，每服一钱匕，渐至二钱匕，空心，浓煎苁蓉酒七分一盏。放温，入
少盐调下，如欲为丸。即以

上三味，同为末，炼蜜和捣，丸如梧桐子大，每服二十丸至三十丸，温酒或盐汤下。
治精极，骨髓虚竭，补益。麋茸煎方
麋茸（五两去毛酥炙黄）
上一味，捣罗为末，以清酒二升，银石器中慢火熬成膏，瓷器盛。每服半匙，温水调下
，空心食前服。
治脾肾气虚，补骨髓，通利耳目。灵芝丸方
苍术（一斤米泔浸时换水）
上一味，用竹刀刮去皮并土，夏浸三日，冬七日。晒干，木臼内捣罗为末，枣肉丸如梧
桐子大，空心枣汤下三十丸至五十丸。
秋石方
凡世之炼秋石者，但得火炼一法而已，此药须兼用阴阳二石，方为至药，今具二法于后
。凡火炼秋石者，阳中之阴，故得火而凝。入水则释然消散，归于无体，盖质去但有味在。
此离中之虚也，水炼秋石，阴中之阳，故得水而凝，遇暴润千岁不变，味去而质留。此坎
中之实，二物皆出于心肾二脏，而流于小肠，水火腾蛇玄武正气，外假天地之水火，凝而为
体。服之还补太阳相火二脏，上为养命之本，具方如后。
阳炼法
小便不计多少，大约两桶为一担，先以清水 好皂荚浓汁，以布绞去滓。每小便一担桶
，入皂荚汁一盏，用竹篦急搅，令转百千匝乃止。值候小便澄清，白浊者皆淀底。乃徐徐辟
去清者不用，只取浊脚，并作一满桶。又用竹篦子搅百余匝，更候澄清，又辟去清者不用。
十数担不过取得浓脚一二斗，其小便须是先以布滤过，勿令有滓，取得浓汁。入净锅中熬，
刮下捣碎，再入锅以清汤煮令化，乃于筲箕内布筋纸两重，倾药入纸筲箕内淋过，取淋下清
汁，再入锅熬干，又用汤煮化，再根据前法淋，直候色如霜雪即止乃入固济沙合内歇口。火
成汁倾出，如药未成，更 一两遍，候莹白玉色即止。细研入沙合内固济，顶火四面养七昼
夜，（久养尤善）再研。每服二钱，空心温酒下，或用枣肉为丸，如梧桐子大。每服三十丸
亦得，空心服阳炼，日午服阴炼。各一服，一名还元丹，昔有人得瘦疾且嗽，万方不效，服
此辄愈。又有病颠眩腹鼓，久之渐加喘满垂困者，亦服此即瘥。此法极省力，只一小锅便可
炼，体如金石，永不暴润，与常法功力不侔，久疾人只数服便效。
阴炼法
小便三五石，夏月虽腐败亦堪用，分置大盆中，以新水一半以上相和，旋转搅数百匝，
放令澄清，辟去清者，留浊脚。又以新水同搅，水多为妙又澄去清者，直候无臭气，澄下秋
石如粉即止。曝干刮下，如腻粉光白，粲然可爱，都无臭气味为度。再研，以乳男儿乳和如
膏，烈日中曝干，如此九度，须拣好日色乃和，盖假太阳真气也。第九度即以枣肉丸之，如
梧桐子大，曝干，每服三十丸，温酒下。

不死，公能从我乎，倪再拜称幸，乃出炼丹砂法饵之。开元元年倪妻之弟，亦遇异人授以杏
丹法曰，吾闻王倪能炼丹砂，愿以此易之。倪以杏丹赐其子弁，而倪与授杏丹者后皆仙矣。
刺史李休光表闻，赐其第为道观，炼丹砂法。

【原文】秋石方 凡世之炼秋石者，但得火炼一法而已，此药须兼用阴阳二石，方为至药，今具二法于后 。凡火炼秋石者，阳中之阴，故得火而凝。入水则释然消散，归于无体，盖质去但有味在。此离中之虚也，水炼秋石，阴中之阳，故得水而凝，遇暴润千岁不变，味去而质留。此坎中之实，二物皆出于心肾二脏，而流于小肠，水火腾蛇玄武正气，外假天地之水火，凝而为体。服之还补太阳相火二脏，上为养命之本，具方如后。 阳炼法 小便不计多少，大约两桶为一担，先以清水 好皂荚浓汁，以布绞去滓。每小便一担桶，入皂荚汁一盏，用竹篦急搅，令转百千匝乃止。值候小便澄清，白浊者皆淀底。乃徐徐辟去清者不用，只取浊脚，并作一满桶。又用竹篦子搅百余匝，更候澄清，又辟去清者不用。十数担不过取得浓脚一二斗，其小便须是先以布滤过，勿令有滓，取得浓汁。入净锅中熬，刮下捣碎，再入锅以清汤煮令化，乃于筲箕内布筋纸两重，倾药入纸筲箕内淋过，取淋下清汁，再入锅熬干，又用汤煮化，再根据前法淋，直候色如霜雪即止乃入固济沙合内歇口。火成汁倾出，如药未成，更 一两遍，候莹白玉色即止。细研入沙合内固济，顶火四面养七昼夜，（久养尤善）再研。每服二钱，空心温酒下，或用枣肉为丸，如梧桐子大。每服三十丸亦得，空心服阳炼，日午服阴炼。各一服，一名还元丹，昔有人得瘦疾且嗽，万方不效，服此辄愈。又有病颠眩腹鼓，久之渐加喘满垂困者，亦服此即瘥。此法极省力，只一小锅便可炼，体如金石，永不暴润，与常法功力不侔，久疾人只数服便效。 阴炼法 小便三五石，夏月虽腐败亦堪用，分置大盆中，以新水一半以上相和，旋转搅数百匝，放令澄清，辟去清者，留浊脚。又以新水同搅，水多为妙又澄去清者，直候无臭气，澄下秋石如粉即止。曝干刮下，如腻粉光白，粲然可爱，都无臭气味为度。再研，以乳男儿乳和如膏，烈日中曝干，如此九度，须拣好日色乃和，盖假太阳真气也。第九度即以枣肉丸之，如梧桐子大，曝干，每服三十丸，温酒下。
【白话翻译】秋石方。世间炼制秋石的方法，通常只有火炼这一种，但这种药必须同时使用阴石和阳石两种方法炼制，才算是极好的药物。现在将这两种方法列在后面。所谓火炼秋石，属于阳中之阴，所以遇到火就会凝固。放入水中则会消散，归于无形，这是因为质地消失了只剩下味道。这是离卦中的虚象。水炼秋石，属于阴中之阳，所以遇到水就会凝固，即使遇到暴雨湿润千年也不改变，味道消失而质地留存。这是坎卦中的实象。这两种物质都来源于心和肾两脏，并流注于小肠，蕴含水火腾蛇玄武的正气，借助天地之间的水火之力，凝结而成形体。服用它可以回补太阳经和相火相关的两脏，向上成为养命的根本。具体方剂如下。
阳炼法：小便数量不限，大约两桶为一担。先用清水和好皂荚的浓汁，用布绞去渣滓。每一担桶的小便，加入一盏皂荚汁，用竹篦子快速搅拌，使其旋转几百上千圈才停止。等待小便澄清，白色的浑浊物都会沉淀到底部。然后慢慢撇去上层清澈的部分不用，只取底部的浑浊沉淀物，合并成一满桶。再次用竹篦子搅拌一百多圈，等待澄清后，再次撇去上层清澈部分不用。十几担小便不过能得到一两斗浓重的沉淀物。小便必须先经过布过滤，不要留有渣滓，取得浓汁。放入干净的锅中熬煮，刮下来捣碎，再放入锅中用清水煮化，然后在笊篱内铺两层筋纸，将药液倒入纸笊篱内淋滤，取淋下的清汁，再次放入锅中熬干，又用清水煮化，再根据前面的方法淋滤，直到颜色像霜雪一样洁白就停止。然后放入涂封好的沙盒内封口。用火加热使汁液析出，如果药没炼成，再重复一两遍，等到呈现晶莹白玉色就停止。细研后放入沙盒内涂封，顶部和四面用火养护七昼夜（长时间养护更好），再次研磨。每次服用二钱，空腹时用温酒送服，或者用枣肉制作成丸药，梧桐子大小。每次服用三十丸也可以。空腹服用阳炼法炼制的，中午服用阴炼法炼制的。各服用一次，这种药又名还元丹。过去有人得了消瘦且咳嗽的疾病，各种方法都不见效，服用此药随即痊愈。还有患眩晕腹胀，时间久了逐渐加重喘息胸闷濒临困境的人，服用此药也随即康复。这种方法非常省力，只需一个小锅就可以炼制，药体质地如同金石，永远不会突然变湿，与普通方法的效力不可同日而语，久病之人只需服用几次就见效。
阴炼法：小便三五石，夏季即使腐败也可以使用，分置在大盆中，加入一半以上的新水混合，旋转搅拌几百圈，放置让其澄清，撇去上层清澈部分，留下底部浑浊沉淀物。再次加入新水共同搅拌，水多为好。再次澄清撇去上层清澈部分，直到没有臭味，沉淀下来的秋石像粉末一样就停止。晒干刮下，像铅粉一样光洁雪白，灿烂可爱，完全没有臭味为标准。再次研磨，用吃母乳男婴的乳汁调和成膏状，在烈日下晒干，这样重复九次。必须挑选好天气才进行调和，这是借助太阳的真气。第九次时用枣肉制作成丸药，梧桐子大小，晒干。每次服用三十丸，用温酒送服。

[Text] Discussion: The *Huangdi Neijing* (Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon) states that the Kidney governs water and receives and stores the essence of the five zang organs and six fu organs. [Qiushi Formula] Generally, those refining Qiushi (Stone Urine) in the world only know the fire-refining method. This medicine requires both Yin and Stone methods to be perfect. Here are two methods. Fire-refined Qiushi is Yin within Yang, so it coagulates with fire. Dissolves in water, returning to formlessness, as substance is gone leaving only taste. This is the emptiness in Li (Fire trigram). Water-refined Qiushi is Yang within Yin, so it coagulates with water. Unchanged for a thousand years even in rain, taste is gone leaving substance. This is the solidity in Kan (Water trigram). Both originate from Heart and Kidney, flow to Small Intestine, containing Zheng Qi of Water/Fire, Snake/Tortoise. Borrowing Heaven/Earth water/fire to coagulate into body. Taking it replenishes Taiyang and Xianghuo viscera, serving as root of life. Specific formulas follow.
Yang Refining Method: Urine amount unlimited, approx. two buckets as one dan. First mix clear water with good Zaojia (Gleditsia Sinensis) thick juice, filter dregs with cloth. For every dan of urine, add 1 zhǎn of Zaojia juice. Stir rapidly with bamboo whisk for hundreds/thousands of turns. Wait for urine to clarify; white turbidity settles. Slowly discard clear part, keep only turbid sediment, combine into full bucket. Stir again with bamboo whisk for 100+ turns, wait for clarification, discard clear part. From dozens of dans, obtain 1-2 dou of thick sediment. Urine must be filtered through cloth first to avoid dregs, obtaining thick juice. Boil in clean pot, scrape down, crush, boil again in clear water to dissolve. Pour through double-layered筋纸 (fiber paper) in a sieve. Collect filtrate, boil dry again, dissolve in water, filter again. Stop when color is like frost/snow. Put into sealed sand box, seal mouth. Fire refine, pour out liquid. If not done, repeat 1-2 times. Stop when bright white jade color. Fine grind, put in sand box, seal. Nourish with fire on top and sides for 7 days/nights (longer is better), grind again. Take 2 qian on empty stomach with warm wine, or make pills with jujube flesh, size of Sophora seeds. Take thirty pills. Take Yang-refined on empty stomach, Yin-refined at noon. Each once, also called Huanyuan Dan. Previously someone had wasting disease with cough, all methods failed, took this and healed. Another with vertigo, abdominal distension, worsening to panting/danger, took this and recovered. This method is very labor-saving, small pot suffices. Body like metal/stone, never suddenly moist. Power far exceeds common methods. Chronic patients see effect after few doses.
Yin Refining Method: Urine 3-5 shi. Even if spoiled in summer, usable. Place in large basins, mix with >50% new water, rotate/stir hundreds of turns. Let settle, discard clear, keep turbid sediment. Add new water, stir again. More water is better. Clarify, discard clear. Stop when no foul odor, sediment like powder. Dry in sun, scrape. Like lead powder, bright white, lovely, no odor. Grind again. Mix with breast milk from nursing boy into paste. Dry in fierce sun. Repeat nine times. Must choose good sunny day to mix, borrowing solar true qi. On ninth time, make pills with jujube flesh, size of Sophora seeds. Dry. Take thirty pills with warm wine.
[Treatment] Treats five labors/seven injuries, essence/marrow deficiency. Lurong Wan (Deer Antler Pill) Formula: Lurong (Deer Antler Horn, remove hair, roast with butter); Shanzhuyu (Corni Fructus); Duzhong (Eucommiae Cortex, slice, stir-fry until fibers break); Gui (Cinnamomi Ramulus, remove rough bark); Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus, stir-fried, 3 fen each); Tusizi (Cuscutae Semen, soak in wine, steam, crush to powder, 1.5 liang); Rongzhrongu (Cistanche Deserticola, soak in wine, roast); Shanyu (Dioscoreae Rhizoma); Suanzaoren (Ziziphi Spinosae Semen, stir-fried, 1 liang each); Naqi (Sea Otter Penis, fine slice/grind 1 fen, soak in 2 sheng wine, filter fine, slow-fire boil into paste). The above ten ingredients: crush nine ingredients into powder. Use Naqi paste to pound and mix, form into pills size of Sophora seeds. Take thirty pills on empty stomach with warm wine.

Rongzhrong Wan (Cistanche Pill) Formula: Rongzhrongu (Cistanche Deserticola, soak in wine, remove wrinkled skin, slice, dry); Niuxi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix, soak in wine, slice, dry); Shu Dihuang (Prepared Rehmanniae Radix, dried); Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix, remove heart, dry); Shanzhuyu (Corni Fructus); Zhike (Aurantii Fructus, remove pulp, stir-fry with bran); Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus, 3 liang each); Yuanzhi (Polygalae Radix, remove heart, 1 liang); Shihu (Dendrobii Caulis, remove roots); Renshen (Panax Ginseng Radix, 2 liang each). The above ten ingredients are crushed, sifted into fine powder, mixed with refined honey into pills size of Sophora seeds. Take thirty pills with warm wine, twice daily, on empty stomach before meals.

Siwei Wan (Four Ingredients Pill) Formula: Shu Dihuang (Prepared Rehmanniae Radix, dried); Tiandong (Asparagi Radix, remove heart, dried); Baifuling (Poria, remove black skin); Yuanzhi (Polygalae Radix, remove heart, 3 liang each). The above four ingredients are crushed, sifted into powder, mixed with refined honey, formed into pills size of Sophora seeds. Take thirty pills with warm wine.
[Wang Ni Dan Sha] Treats everything, especially tonifies Heart, benefits essence/blood, heals diseases, strengthens sinews/bones, long-term use prevents death. Wang Ni was the 12th generation grandson of Chancellor Zun. He served as Magistrate of Wudi, Cangzhou for nine years. A physiognomist saw him and said, "You will die on Yi-Mao day next January. I have medicine to save you. Will you follow me?" Wang Ni bowed gratefully. The man gave him the Dan Sha refining method. In Kaiyuan Year 1, Wang Ni's brother-in-law met a strange man who taught him Xing Dan (Apricot Pill) method, saying, "I heard Wang Ni refines Dan Sha, wish to exchange." Wang Ni gave Xing Dan to his son Bian. Wang Ni and the teacher both became immortals. Prefect Li Xiugu reported this. Emperor granted his mansion as Daoist temple, teaching Dan Sha method.
Dan Sha (Cinnabaris, 28 liang); Gancao (Licorice Root); Yuanzhi (Polygalae Radix, remove heart); Binglang Ren (Arecae Semen); Helile Pi (Terminalia Chebulae Pericarpium, 1 liang each); Gui (Cinnamomi Ramulus, remove rough bark, 8 liang, crush). The above four herbs (Gancao etc.) are sliced. Use a large cauldron (2 dou capacity). Put Dan Sha in fine cloth bag, suspend in cauldron. Add water and herbs. Boil with charcoal fire. Day 1 + night: Yin fire, water ripples. Day 2 + night: Yang fire, fish-eye boil. Day 3 + night: Wood fire, flower foam boil. Day 4 + night: Fire fire, vigorous boil. Day 5 + night: Earth fire, slight boil. Day 6 + night: Metal fire, boil fluctuates. Day 7 + night: Water fire, gentle boil. Prepare two cauldrons in advance. One keeps warm water for topping up.
