(Two discussions, ten formulas)
Discussion: All diseases of Ganshi (Childhood malnutrition with damp-heat/parasites) are caused by consuming rich, fatty, and greasy foods during the hot summer months and sleeping in cool places. The Book of Rites states: "In the height of summer, gentlemen should eat light flavors and avoid rich, fatty foods and boiled dough cakes, as these are detrimental to people at this time." Those who practice health preservation should beware of this deeply; otherwise, they will mostly suffer from Ganshi.
Wherever the lesions occur, whether in the mouth/throat, lower body Ganshi, or Yue Shi Chuang (Moon Eclipse Sores), there is no pain, so people do not notice them. Treatment involves using Toad (Chanhu), Jiaohao (Artemisia capillaris var.), Jiuyue Mu, and Hanshi Gandian collected on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. Choose any one of these, burn it to ash, mix with lard from the twelfth lunar month, and apply to the lesion for immediate cure. Strict dietary restrictions are necessary. All salt, soy sauce, vinegar, butter, and dates must be avoided. Only white rice, Dou Chi (Fermented Soybean), Alfalfa, Lettuce, and Turnip greens are permitted.
