According to *Zhu Bing Yuan Hou Lun* (Treatise on the Pathogenesis and Symptoms of All Diseases), regarding chronic cough with pus and blood: The lungs are affected by cold pathogen. If mild, it results in coughing; if the coughing is extremely severe, it damages the meridians and collaterals, causing blood to stagnate and accumulate, thus leading to the expectoration of pus and blood. Since both qi and blood are injured, the condition lingers for a long time, and the expelled blood appears dark and瘀stasis-like, mixed with pus. (From Volume 14)
