Secret Medicine Cake (Miyao Bing) consists of six cakes, with a total weight of three qian. When needed, grind them into an extremely fine powder. For every two fen of this cake powder, add the following ingredients: Borneolum Syntheticum (Bingpian, four fen), Margarita (Zhenzhu, four fen), Bovis Calculus (Xi Huang/Niu Huang, two fen), Moschus (Shexiang, six fen), Calomelas (Qingfen, one li), Borax (Pengsha, two fen). Grind these medicines together into a fine powder, mix evenly, and store. Apply by insufflation (blowing into the lesion).

This passage is indeed difficult to understand. The so-called "seven flavors" actually lists only six, and the phrase "add just before use" implies that there may be other ingredients mentioned earlier that are not listed here.

The formula above contains: Xiongjing (Realgar), Cinnabaris (Zhusha), Sanguis Draconis (Xuejie), Myrrha (Moyao) (each two liang), and Moschus (Shexiang, four fen). Grind all these medicines into a fine powder.

Semen Cnidii Herba (Shechuangzi Cao, five liang) and Distilled Liquor (Shaojiu, five jin). First, heat the bottle of liquor in the sun, then immerse the Shechuangzi grass in it. Take an appropriate amount orally morning and evening, adjusted according to the patient's age and constitution. If the disease has not persisted for long, one year of administration will lead to complete recovery.

(Applicable to pediatric scalp sores and other conditions; treats all types of sores and scabies, but contraindicated for broken skin.)

Tobacco Resin (Yanjiao, two jin), Sophorae Radix (Kushen, two jin), Alum Crystallizatum (Mingshengfan, half jin), Zanthoxyli Fructus (Chuanjiao, stir-fried half jin), Shengyao Base (Shengyaodi, half jin), Sulfur (Huangshi, half jin), Borneolum Syntheticum (Zhangbing/Bingpian, four liang), Calcined Alum (Kufan, half jin), Realgar Rubrum (Hongpi, one liang), Semen Cnidii (Shechuangzi, stir-fried half jin), Semen Jatrophae (Dafengzirou, 800 seeds, approx. eight he), Semen Jatrophae.

(Specially treats oily pus-filled follicular sores.)

Sulfur (Huangshi, four liang), Alum Crystallizatum (Mingfan, two qian), Realgar Rubrum (Hongpi, five fen), Earth Vermilion (Tuzhu, one qian). Grind these medicines into a fine powder. Melt the mixture in a pot, pour it out to cool, and mold into锭剂 (stick-shaped preparations). For each use, apply the powdered medicine mixed with sesame oil using a brush onto the sore.

Soak these herbs in fifteen jin of Sesame Oil (Dama You) for seven days. Then boil in a pot until the herbal residues are dry. Filter out the dregs and continue boiling until a drop of the oil forms a bead when dropped into water. Finally, add six jin of calcined Lead Monoxide (Chao Huangdan) to consolidate the ointment.
