This condition is mostly caused by damp-heat invading the Bladder (Bladder). The treatment prescription is as follows:
Pollen Typhae (Puhuang, 蒲黄) (1 liang)
Coptidis Rhizoma with Anemarrhenae Rhizoma (Hulian, 胡连) (1 liang)
Atractylodis Rhizoma (Cangzhu, 苍术) (1 liang)
Grind all ingredients into fine powder. Take a handful of Allii Fistulosi Bulbus (Congbai, 葱白), mash it thoroughly, mix in the medicine, and apply the paste to the affected area.
Another prescription:
Apply Dian Shi (Millennium Calcined Stone) mixed with good vinegar to the lesion; this is also effective.
Any small fleshy protrusion within the nine orifices of the human body is referred to as Hemorrhoids (Zhi, 痔). Hence, there are names such as Ear Hemorrhoids (Er Zhi, 耳痔), Nasal Hemorrhoids (Bi Zhi, 鼻痔), and Dental Hemorrhoids (Ya Zhi, 牙痔); it is not limited to the anus alone. There are many types of anal hemorrhoids, with diverse names and appearances, so they are sometimes categorized into twenty-four types. Those that have not ulcerated are called Hemorrhoids (Zhi, 痔), while those that have ulcerated and formed fistulas are called Fistulas (Lou, 漏). Broadly classified, they fall into the following categories:
When several sores appear around the anus, swelling and protruding, which dissipate after pus drains upon rupture, it is called "Pin Hemorrhoids" (Nv Zhi,
When fleshy balls protrude from the anus, shaped like rat's milk, and frequently discharge pus and blood, it is called "Mu Hemorrhoids" (Mu Zhi,
When granular protrusions at the anal opening cause pain and itching, with continuous dripping of blood, it is called "Mai Hemorrhoids" (Mai Zhi,
When nodules with blood appear inside the anus, accompanied by chills and fever, and rectal prolapse occurs with each bowel movement, it is called "Chang Hemorrhoids" (Chang Zhi,
When swelling, pain, and bleeding occur immediately after drinking alcohol, it is called "Jiu Hemorrhoids" (Jiu Zhi, 酒痔) (identical to Se Hemorrhoids).
When bleeding continues incessantly during every bowel movement, it is called "Xue Hemorrhoids" (Xue Zhi,
When the anus swells and hurts, triggered by anger and relieved when anger subsides, it is called "Qi Hemorrhoids" (Qi Zhi,
There are many varieties of hemorrhoids, generally falling within the above categories; others are merely variations. Although the types are numerous, the treatment methods do not differ significantly. Internally, Zhong Jiu Wan (Central Nine Pills) is taken to eliminate toxic heat in the Zang-Fu organs; sometimes Huai Jiao Wan (Sophora Fruit Pill) can be taken concurrently. Externally, Hua Rou Gao (Flesh-Dissolving Ointment) is applied to the nodule. Once the flesh turns black, the black layer is scraped off, and Hua Rou Gao is reapplied. After several such treatments, the nodule naturally necroses and falls off. Finally, wash with Xun Xi Tang (Fumigation and Washing Decoction) and sprinkle Jia Wei Tian Ran San (Modified Natural Powder) to complete the cure.
Treatment for Fistulas (Lou, 漏): Internally, take Zhong Jiu Wan (Central Nine Pills) to eliminate heat in the Zang-Fu organs, and concurrently take Huai Jiao Wan (Sophora Fruit Pill) to supplement the effect. Externally, insert San Ya Cao (Three-Leaf Herb) into the orifice to probe its depth or curvature. Then, insert medicinal threads three times, and externally apply Jie Du Gao (Detoxifying Ointment). After about six or seven days, when the scab falls off, use Jia Wei Tian Ran San (Modified Natural Powder) to promote tissue regeneration and flatten the wound. The therapies for various hemorrhoids are recorded below:
Huai Jiao Wan (Sophora Fruit Pill)
Sophorae Fructus matured after frost (Huai Jiao, 槐角) (5 qian)
Coptidis Rhizoma (Huanglian, 黄连) (1 liang)
Angelicae Dahuricae Radix tip (Baizhi Shao,
Saposhnikoviae Radix (Fangfeng, 防风)
Paeoniae Radix Rubra (Chishao,
Aurantii Fructus Immaturus (Zhiqiao,
Rehmanniae Radix Preparata (Shengdi, 生地) (each 1 liang)
Scutellariae Radix (Huangqin,
Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix (Qinjiao,
Phellodendri Cortex (Huangbai, 黄柏) (each 2 liang)
Rhei Radix et Rhizoma processed nine times (Jiu Zhi Dahuang, 九制大黄) (4 liang)
Grind all ingredients into fine powder, make pills with rice paste, sized like mung beans. Take on an empty stomach with plain boiled water. If blood is present in the stool, use Platycladi Semen (Cebai Ye, 侧柏叶) (2 liang), Ashed Palm Kernel (Chen Zong Hui, 陈棕灰) (1 liang), and Herbal Soot (Baicao Shuang, 百草霜) (5 qian) to make pills.
Medicinal Thread Preparation Method
Arsenic Trioxide (Sha, 砂) (1 liang)
Red Arsenic (Hong Pi, 红砒) (1 liang)
Wild Taro Root (Ye Yu, 野芋) (3 liang)
Arisaema Cum Bile (Nanxing, 南星) (5 liang)
Clematis Root (Lingxian, 灵仙) (5 liang)
First, grind Arsenic and Red Arsenic separately. Then, decoct the remaining herbs in water. Add the ground Arsenic and Red Arsenic to the decoction. Take one strand of spider silk from a river-crossing spider and one strand of silk thread, combine them into one line, and immerse it in the medicinal water. Boil for the time it takes to burn one incense stick. Remove, dry, and store for use. When using, insert San Ya Cao (Three-Leaf Herb) carrying the medicinal thread into the orifice, then guide it through the anus. Withdraw the San Ya Cao, pulling the thread out with it. Bind according to this method three times. Tie a copper coin to the end of the thread. Loosen and tighten once daily (called "Cu Xian" or Thread-Stimulating). The fistula will gradually split open, revealing internal flesh and blood. Sprinkle Tian Ran San (Natural Powder) accordingly. Tighten similarly every day. After about seven days, the thread will cut through ("Gua Qian"), and the copper coin will drop. Clean the area with Xun Xi Tang (Fumigation and Washing Decoction) to remove impurities, apply Jie Du Gao (Detoxifying Ointment) to promote healing and flatten the wound to conclude treatment.
