Jingluo Yong (Meridian Abscess): The location of onset is the same as that of the chest and hypochondrium.
You Yong (Deep Abscess): Occurs seven cun above the umbilicus, shaped like a goose egg. Pain radiates to both diaphragms. During attacks, there is shivering and teeth grinding. Moxibustion should be applied to Zhubin (KI9) for fourteen moxa cones.
Xia Yong (Fright Abscess): Occurs four cun above the umbilicus, also known as Wei Ju (Stomach Gangrene). There is slight swelling without redness; the interior feels hard as stone. It presents with initial chills followed by fever. Pain wanders and radiates to the umbilicus. There is nausea with inability to vomit. In severe cases, coughing with purulent sputum occurs. If the pulse is floating and large and the face is red, it is incurable. Moxibustion should be applied to Quchi (LI11) for seven moxa cones. If the toxin leans to the left, moxibustion is applied to the right side; if it leans to the right, moxibustion is applied to the left side.
Chong Ju (Chong Artery Gangrene): Occurs two cun above the umbilicus. It arises from excessive heart fire flowing into the Kidney Meridian. It is suitable for strong tonification. If there is no improvement after treatment, it is incurable.
Qi Yong (Umbilical Abscess): Occurs at the umbilicus, swelling as large as a melon and protruding like a tumor. It belongs to the Ren Mai (Conception Vessel) and Stomach Meridian. This is caused by accumulated heat in the Heart Meridian flowing into the Large and Small Intestines. However, the umbilicus is Shenque (Shenmen), where acupuncture and moxibustion are strictly prohibited.

Huinong San (Hui Nong Powder) is suitable. For severe pain, add Ru Xiang (Boswelliae Resina). It is also advisable to take La Fan Wan (Wax and Alum Pill) in large amounts. Gangrene occurring in these areas is collectively called Xiao Fu Ju. It presents with transverse swelling, pain, and radiation to the back. It is formed by the stagnation and transformation of the Seven Emotions into fire. Moxibustion should be applied to Jimen (SP10) for seven moxa cones.
