Tuo Chuang (Scalp Ringworm) is caused by wind-heat transforming into insect-toxins, characterized by unbearable itching without pain. White crusts the size of a coin appear within the hair on the scalp. Treatment should involve internal administration of Fangfeng Tongsheng San (Saposhnikovia Universal Relief Powder) and external application of an ointment for effective results.
[Note] This condition presents with white crusts growing on the head, small ones like bean grains and large ones like coins. It is commonly known as "Qian Xuan" (Coin Tinea), also called "Fei Chuang" (Greasy Scabies). It mostly occurs on the heads of children, causing severe itching but no pain. If left untreated for a long time, it spreads into patches, causing hair to become brittle and fall out, resulting in Tuo Chuang (Baldness), also known as "Lai Tou Chuang" (Leper Head Scabies). This disease arises from accumulated heat in the Stomach Meridian generating wind. It is suitable to use the ingredients of Fangfeng Tongsheng San (Saposhnikovia Universal Relief Powder), soaked in pure wine, baked until dry, and ground into fine powder. Take one or two qian per dose, adjusted according to the patient's strength. Mix with plain boiled water and take after meals; effectiveness is indicated by profuse sweating on the head. For initial Fei Chuang (Greasy Scabies), applying Fei You Gao (Grease Ointment) is recommended, showing good efficacy with prolonged use. For established Tuo Chuang (Baldness), first wash the crusts clean with a decoction of Ai Ye (Artemisia argyi Leaf) and Ge Fen (Dove Droppings); then wash with pork broth, followed by rubbing Zhi Zhu Hua You (Rhododendron Oil) to kill insects and disperse wind. When insects die, itching stops; when wind disperses, hair grows; when blood circulation flows, skin becomes moist. Long-term application yields excellent results.
